Somerset 26 Middlesboro 18
#1
Final from Middlesboro. Somerset moves to 7-2 on the season, 3-0 in the district. Middlesboro drops to 3-6, and 0-3.
#2
Somerset sacks Middlesboro with about 10 seconds left. Middlesboro had no timeouts so the clock ran out. However, the officials put 1.7 seconds back on the clocks and let them run another play. But Somerset tackles the Middlesboro player at the 30 to end the game.

Good close game jackets. Couldn't pull it out but that's okay. Good win jumpers.

It sounded like the offensive line didn't show up tonight. Until Lange broke the long run at the end the Jumpers got nothing on the ground. The offense did nothing at all until Castle Hatcher came into the game. He was able to lead the offense to a couple of scores but had to run for his life to do it. Huge kick return by Will Lange to open the second half. Ugly win. Somerset turns it over 4 times and is flagged about 18 times but gets out of there with the win.

A win is a win...but it was ugly. Middlesboro came out and played a heck of a game in the first half and it sounded like they pretty much man handled the Jumpers early.

2 years in a row Somerset has struggled with the Jackets. Good Luck Middlesboro in the playoffs!!
#6
Closer than I expected. Middlesboro has played well at the end of the year. Very tough district. You could be pretty good and go 0-3.
#7
Playoffs.. lol.. Don't you have to be good to be in the playoffs? We suck in football..

I hope its as evident to the coaches as it is to the fans

wow very surprising here... Congrats to somerset on the win... Middlesboro seems to be really turning it around.. the future is looking bright for the jackets coach frazier is doing a good job

Very ugly game but, a win is a win. I am not really sure what Coach Lucas was thinking in the beginning of the 2nd Half but, if this game did not prove that Castle Hatcher needs to be the starting QB from this point on, then nothing will!! Glad the Briar Jumpers were able to pull this one out!

I'm not sure how healthy Somerset is going into the Perry Central game. I heard Tevin Slaughter was getting a hand bandaged and he wasn't running the ball. Also I think Cam Cheuvront was playing with mono tonight.

Good to see Tyson Williams involved in the passing game again. I haven't gotten to see that last couple of games so I'm just going by the radio accounts but it seems like he and Hatcher have a nice rapport. He's a huge matchup problem for any 2A team with his hands, height and leaping ability. He forces the defense to keep a safety home and that keeps teams from bracketing a (healthy) Cheuvront.

I am completely GOBSMACKED by the CONSISTENT lack of decision making for the qb position. I am the first to say that #6 is a great kid But he's just doing the job as it needs done. If #18 brings Williams into play I'm all for it because that kid is GREAt and we're yet to see what he can do. Not a lot of schools have anyone who can defend a kid of that build so i am shocked at why we haven't used his athleticism more. Thank god for some of our offense and defense when we needed them! Hatchet, Lange, and Jones need a big thank you! Lange for the consistent positive effort and power in offense. hatcher for the sparks and obvious chemistry. And jones for being the bull that he his. And way for the defense to stop them Several times in the red zone! Way to win jumpers! We're with
You until The end!!

congrats to the briar jumpers

Heard SHS had a lot of penalties in this one.

Go back and read the update thread--it was crazy. It was around 18-20. Plus they changed the call on two fumbles--both of them went against Somerset, they respotted the ball on a 3rd and one that caused Somerset to come up short and on the last series allowed Middlesboro to run two plays in the last 10 seconds when they got sacked and had no timeouts remaining.

I'll just say it, the Officals were terrible. I don't know how they can lay down and sleep after treating a bunch of High School Kids that way. They really tryed to take the Game, even to the point of not counting an extra point, to keep the game where a field goal would win for Middlesboro. Glad to see Tyson get involved in the scoring, he can make those catches all night long. Castle played a wonderful game, except the pick and he threw into tripple coverage once. He manages a good game. Will and Bryson ran hard. We need to get everyone back to 100% by playoff time and that is now. Good Win Jumpers a Smaller Group would have folded.

Not trying to make anyone mad here, but if Danville and Somerset let this Middlesboro team lead them late and have a chance to win then that is not saying much about Danville and Somerset to me. Looks like 2A is severely weak to me this year and maybe for Danville and Somerset thats a good thing cause Middlesboro is extremely young and not very good at all. Thats not putting the kids down that is just a fact. Anyway congrats on the win

The playoff system in Ky football is broken I dont care if Middlesboro is playing better they are winless in district and won 3 games all year, will beat an inferior Lynn Camp team to finish 4-6 and make the playoffs:biglmao: The top 2 teams in every district should make it, makes no sense to me at all but whatever, i guess its the old, well every kid will get a trophy whether they deserve one or not.

It's starting to show where losing Will Hinton and Jacobi has hurt our defense. It is still really good, but not spectacular like it was going to be. That said, we played much of the game without Tevin slaughter (finger), bridge smith (hamstring) and then you have will and Jacobi gone. Definitely had an impact.

Our O is a whole nother story. If Castle isn't starting next week, we've got issues. We can't keep leaving our best qb as the cleanup man to come in and save us everytime we start getting beat, or we will get beat. If we go 2 quarters without him during playoffs we aren't going to keep pulling it out last minute. The excuses for why he cant start (still rolls out wrong, freshman) are ridiculous at this point. he is the only qb our team can even score with in the last 2 games. Repeating what others have said, but it is SO obvious.

Proud of our boys for never giving up. Love my jumpers, I just wish they were being given their best chances to win!!

Also, THE REFS SUCKED

Good to see the Jumpers battle adversity last night and still come away with a win

I was standing right on top of play, and saw with my own eyes. Knew at the time it was a terrible call, like so many others Friday night.

Wow.. was it that bad? I felt good that we played the jumpers a good game, but now I feel awful that we couldn't even win and the refs cheated for us.. lol

Do you have a picture of just before the knee hit the ground? It doesnt look like he is grasping the ball in this photo. The only place I see the ball touching the somerset player is on the forearm. Was the the ball secured right before the players knee hit the ground? Just saying? Maybe you are correct maybe it was a bad call. But the ref doesnt have the benefit of viewing still photographs.
