Since Wednesday, I've heard 7 names as a possible new head coaches......



I was hoping somebody 'in the loop' would be able to either confirm or deny certain names.

Lets hope that the UK A.D now understands the type of coach that the UK football program must have. #1 The head football coach at UK must be a top notch X & O coach who understands situational football. A coach that knows when to gamble and when to play things close to the vest. How many bad play calls have when seen Joker make? #2 To Be a successful Coach at UK a Coach must run a system that will work in the SEC. The triple option is out and 3 yards and a cloud of dust is too. #3 A successful Football Coach at UK must be a great teacher and develope players. Short of Jimmy Johnson or a famous coach like him, no coach at UK is going to be able to land 4 and 5 star players left and right like a Bama does. IMO for UK to be a solid SEC program they must build Offensive Lines that are at the Top of the SEC and this takes a coach that can spot the body types that can add muscle and weight, plus the right mental make-up. #4 To win in the SEC it takes a great recruiter! It starts with the in-state talent. Keeping the top in-state players is a good place to start. If a coachs recruits and signs only SEC leftovers then he should expect to be a SEC left over. I think the #2 recrutiing state must be OHIO.

I'm 99.9.% sure that he was suspended for a few games and that's it.
The Colts were going to uphold his suspension after he originally took the job as a consultant with them.

It was a 2 game suspension, 250k fine, and a 5 year show-cause.

A lot of programs don't want to deal with coaches with a show-cause because of the burden that comes with it and the extra penalties that could come if there is another slip-up.

I didn't know he got hit with the show-cause.

People keep saying the wishful thinking thing. It was wishful thinking that enabled South Carolina to get Lou Holtz and then Steve Spurrier. I'm all for having wishful thinking and then taking the necessary actions to make wishful thinking become reality. Spend the damn money and show the commitment it takes to get a wishful thinking coach.

that's why schools won't come near Tressell, he's had serious violations at Youngstown State and then Ohio State, meaning it's a good bet that he'll do it again. even one small screw up could put the school in a world of hurt.

Instead of Tressell, UK should go after one of his former assistants, Luke Fickell. He managed to get OSU to a bowl game with what he had, he'd be a good fit for UK. He's got huge recruiting ties in Ohio, which is where UK needs to be recruiting

If Kentucky could keep Tressell on a tight leash it could work...

In all honesty, I think Tressell on a show-cause might be something that could send him to a school like Kentucky. I doubt it would happen, but if UK can't land a legitimate coach they need to just ride out the Joker storm lol

I really don't see John Gruden coaching at UK as rumors are currently swirling in Knoxville that Gruden may be the new head coach at Tennessee. Petrino is the only one on the list that makes sense but, does the A.D. really want to bring that kind of negative attention to the University? I seriously doubt it!

Same here! They need to hire someone with a proven record! I was completely opposed to the idea of Joker Phillips being the coach in waiting when it was announced during Rich Brooks tenure! I knew it was a bad idea and once Joker Phillips is gone, I hope they have learned their lesson with that scheme.

Geez, that would be terrible.He's won a ton of state titles and has had great success at the high school level but come on! I would lose a lot of respect for MB and the university if they go this route.
