All everything aside. This is a very interesting game. Somerset could very well be in BG and Whitley has a chance to make a run a region title.
Keys to game: Whitley, ball controll, no turnovers. Somerset, get offense on track and don't let Whitley control clock. If both teams play well then this game will be decided by a special teams play or plays. Good luck to both teams.

I know 2A is weak as a class but how can you pick against a potential state champion?
Somerset 17
Whitley 14
Somerset 17
Whitley 14

Is Bryant playing offense this week?:please:

I always try and pick the best game in the area to attend - well this is my third time to watch Somerset. Already watched Hazard and Breathitt against them. Watched a great game last week between Knox and Harlan Co. Another great game this week against Whitley. You can say one thing about Somerset they know how to put a good cometitive schedule together! IMO Somerset speed will be too much for Whitley Co. Somerset has four or five players faster than anyone on Whitley. Whitley could not stop Russell County's speed and Chevraunt and Lange for Somerset are both faster than anyone on Russell County team and Russell put up alot of points against Whitley. I attended this game last year and Whitley and Somerset fans may remember Somerset's Will Lange as the Rb who had three TD's called back by holding calls and that was what made Somerset fans mad! Somerset offense getting better and their defense is the bomb! Somerset 21 to 10.

if you think this comes down to special teams, the edge goes to somerset. Cam Cheuvront at kick and punt returner, I dont know if there is anyone as dangerous as him back there.

Zach Mills even though a Froshmen is very dangerous himself. Has had many TD returns called back this season already. Its going to be a great one. :devilflam

I agree Miller is very impressive. I saw him aganist Rockcastle, Quick Kid. Lang will not play he had a Concussion last week. Cam Cheuvron is a blur, Very Dangerous. Somerset's Team Speed will be difference in this Game.

2 good teams but Somerset has had trouble on offense this year. The troubles continue this week and Whitley wins 26-7.

I think the Briar Jumpers could be too much. Somerset wins 21-7.

Jumpers gave up 24 pts to Breathitt co., a top 5 team in classes 1-3 IMO with a VERY explosive offense full of weapons and they give up 26 to Whitley? 26 points would be the greatest offensive output any team has had against the Jumpers all season, and that would also make Whitley only the SECOND team to break into double digits scoring on the jumpers (east jess 6 pts, SWHS 2 pts, Hazard 9 pts, Breathitt 24, Glasgow 0). On another note lets examine SHS's offense... Yes it is true that Lange will not be on the field on Friday, but there are still plenty of weapons to be successful. Somerset held the football for 36 minutes of clock time on Friday against Glasgow... They may not be putting up as many points as they have in the past, but it is a different type of philosophy offensively this year because of the make-up of the team. Somerset is one half of football away from being undefeated against a VERY challenging schedule, the second half of the Breathitt co. game was flat, but other than that they have done what they had to do to beat quality competition. I don't know who will win Friday, but I can say with confidence that Whitley will not put huge numbers up on Somersets score board. This will be a good ball game regardless.

From everything I hear, the Jumpers are just too banged up to compete this week. Numerous starters will miss this game, and several others will be less than 100 percent.
Coupled with the distractions of homecoming, I'd have to consider Whitley County a three-TD favorite, at least.

For Sale: Large Bridge in Brooklyn, cheap!!! Also have some ocean front property in Arizona.
Prespective buyers only need to believe that Somerset is as banged up as people are saying.....Honestly Homecoming is never a true distraction, unless it is at Perry where the kids are in a parade with the girls going to the field ONE HOUR before the game!!!!
I look for a great game. I did see some stuff from last year on youtube which raised my eye brow some. I know that Somerset feels like they got some bad calls but there were bad calls that went both ways and also alot of no calls that favored the Jumpers. I just hope it is fairly called game, win or loose. Some of the posters think that Whitley had coaches calling the game, not true....just call it fair and let the chips fall where they may.

To be honest, if Somerset has all of these "injuries" then this wont even be a ball game.
Whitley is finally at full strength and will be better this week then theyve been all year.

So does that mean Bryant is healthy?

If that is true that Lange is not playing that will hurt Somerset. He is getting close to 200 yards per game on the ground and recieving - not counting his return game where he is very dangerous. Chevraunt and Lange together are probably the most dangerous tandem of kick and punt returners in the mountains.

Looking forward to watching this game on Friday.

A couple posters have said that Whitley will Score 26 + pts. Well let's look at what they have scored in Games this season
28 aganist Rock, 35 aganist Clay Co. 49 aganist Lynn Camp, 14 aganist Bell and 20 aganist Russell Co, an avg. of 20.9 points per game. and 4 of the above mentioned are not even close to Somerset on Defensive side of the Ball. Good Luck is scoring 26+ points friday night,

Sounds like Rock, Bell, Lynn Camp, and Clay need to shore up the defensive side of the ball. Hey guys, Joker may be of some help if you would contact him!!!:lmao:

I agree that Cam is the Man. But wasn't you on here the other day talking about kicking camp and the kids not being dedicated to special teams? Now they have that edge. Not attacking, just wondering what happened in a week??

He was just referring to the technical aspects of the kicking, punting and snapping. Very good athletes that could only benefit froM refinement. The returners are and have been on point.

At least that's what I thought correct me if I'm wrong.
Really looking forward to this game. I'm surprised how many people think Whitley is that much better than Somerset considering we are both better than last year. I stand by the opinion that Somerset was the better team last year but they did not win the game, be it for boneheads holding/blocks in the back on crucial plays or stupid calls. I don't think anyone wanted to make excuses but it does suck having so many injuries. You are lying if you say Somerset wouldn't love to beat them!

Sick of hijacking Hazard threads so you decided to broaden your horizons? Williamsburg wants no part of either of these teams, and probably none of Hazard either.

Unless he gets hurt during practice tomorrow, he should be ready to go.
All bias aside, Im not sure ive seen a kid as big as Bryant take a footbal and look like a running back, but even more scary is when you see him at the LB position running down hill toward your RB.
