Whitley County @ Somerset 9/28

[quote=Do-double-gg]Ok, well all I know is Bell County is good and are the kings of the mountains until someone takes em out and I don't think Breathitt and Bell has had a game in a long time either. Yes I do think Whitley could beat Breathitt but we will never know for sure because they don't play and Whitley is in 5a. I think you should worry more about getting the job done with Belfry before you even think about Bell or Whitley because you did not get it done last year.[/QUOTE

Just don't comment on this thread anymore and we'll all act like you didn't just embarrass yourself, deal?:please:

And what proof do you hve to support that?
What possibly mkes you think Breathitt is better thn Whitley or Bell? Is it because WYMT told you so?

Cellking Wrote:Somerset Vs, Whitley will be a Great High School Football Game, I have friends that Coach at Whitley Co. and wish them the Best. Whitley Won the Game last year and Somerset did Just fine the next game beating Danville. I know Coach Lucas could give a tinkers damn about the Whitley Game other than he wants to play well and come out Healthy. I'm sure Coach Black feels the same. If Somerset was 100% healthy they would win this game but Healthy we are not. I think Somerset will show up and play hard and this will be a close game no matter who wins. Beat Danville!!!!!

Let's not make excuses 4 days before the game.
Every team is going to have injuries, its a part of the game.
Lucas wants to win this game, you can bet you butt on that.

Buffalo Bildos Wrote:What did Whitley lose from last year as far as offensive production?

Absolutly Nothing.
We actually gained a Senior who hadnt played last year, along with one of the best Frosh in the state. Bryant, Ysidro, and Nichols all return in the backfield as well. Everyone should be healthy Friday.

With it being at Somerset i think they'll hang around for a while, and may even keep it close to the very end. But this Whitley team is strong, maybe the most physical team Somerset will play this year, and it will show Friday.

BriarCreekBrave Wrote:This will be a good game regardless of which teams wins. I never believe any reports on injuries on here...especially if it comes from a displaced Raider fan. I mean seriously, you gonna believe a former McCreary County fan who only is a Somerset fan becuase of a single transfer and the fact that he cannot displace a politically connected AD at his former school? LOL REALLY?!?!?!!?

Bottom line if Whitley can stop the pass better than last year they will be fine, thier run defense has improved thoughout the season, and gotten better every game. Injuries have in a weird way helped the Colonels this season as they have developed depth from giving kids reps due to those injuries, and now kids are starting to return.

Not displaced, and I'm sure you would watch your School, if relative was playing just up the Road. Oh well I could care less what you believe. Friday will come and go, One will win and one will get beat. Either way the Sun will come up Sat. Morning and we will have UK Football to keep us amused. LOL

Somerset is king in pulaski county. Injuries or not Somerset is da bomb. from what I understand they are completely healthy. look out colonels

I'm sure Lucas wants to win, if he don't he needs to find a different Job. I'm Saying Somerset is playing for the playoffs and if you ask him or Coach Black which game they wanted to win most, Somerset----Danville or Whitley County-----Harlan County. You and I both know the answer. I was just posting the facts about injuries, not making excuses. There is a difference.

I shouldn't put coal in the fire, but I can't help it.

I read this entire post, and already the refs from last year, 5 hurt starters, and blah! blah! blah! excuses and the game hasn't even started. I also read one poster who they said they didn't care if they won or not. That is BS. I hope everyone stays healthy for both teams, but I hope they play the best they can and the best TEAM wins. If every game doesn't matter, therein may lie the problem. I am not going to comment after I am attacked for saying all this but come on--if you didn't care about it you wouldn't be fussing before the game even starts.

Theres not doubt that district games are important, but a win could also help in a 3 way tie breaker.

Do-double-gg Wrote:I think Breathitt has a very good team this year but untill you prove it on the field it is all talk at this point. It is easy to say you can beat a team that you know the odds are good that you will never play in the post season because Bell will probably play Louisville Central before any of you. Bell is still the king of the mountains,Central is the king of 3a and Belfry is the kings over Breathitt until you go out and prove otherwise.Confusederved:

All I can say is I hope Breathitt and Lawrence meet in the second round of the playoffs because it will be a running clock in the second half and the bobcats will be well rested for the Belfry matchup.

To the topic at hand, Somerset wins 21-14. Good luck Briar Jumpers.

As a fan this game means a lot to me. So did last weeks and so will next weeks. I don't know who will win, Whitley surprised me by playing so close to Bell Co, but so did Wayne Co. (Maybe Bell is down a little). Somerset has had so many issues scoring I'm not sure they could at the Chicken Ranch.

This WILL be a hard hitting game. I think this game will turn on big mistakes by either team either self inflicted or forced.

Whitley County fans do seem to take this game more seriously than Somerset fans do for whatever reason. I just hope the Somerset faithful turn out to support the Jumpers on Friday.

Go Jumpers!!!

Is it true Coach Lucas changed this to Homecoming game?????

footballfever Wrote:Is it true Coach Lucas changed this to Homecoming game?????

I think homecoming is set by the administration. They also won't allow homecoming on either end of fall break so that probably ruled out LCA. They don't like to have it too early so this is probably the only game that fit. Last season it was Glasgow. The administration doesn't really look at the opponent.

I am a Black Bear fan through and through but I am a BIG believer in this Whitley team....Whitley by 14 or more.

I care about this game and I definitely hope we win, but not at the expense of losing to Danville. If everyone is ready to go on Friday then great. If not though, save them for the Ads.

Most people wouldn't know a good called game if somebody showed them one on film.

Should be a good game. If Somerset is full strength I give them the slight edge.

I'm not really convinced that Somerset is King in Pulaski County. I think a Somerset /Pulaski Game would be a pretty good game. But we will never know this year.

I wouldn't say Bell is down this year because Wayne played them well. Go watch Wayne Co. play. They are pretty good.

If Somersets injury report is true then I will pick Whitley by a touchdown 14-7. For the record, I hope I am wrong.

It will be a game with two quality football teams. Good luck to both teams and I hope both teams emerge healthy.

I'm sure you wouldn't. You are too busy complaining about having to pay for the concession stand food to call a good game. With all the D-2 and D-3 refs called up to call the NFL games we can all see that you are calling high school instead of moving up. Hey, let me know and I'll pay for your pizza next time at a JV game so you'll quit crying about your alma mater not feeding you while they pay you to work a game. If you don't want to call a game for what you are paid then quit. You won't be missed.
#83
Not wanting to pick a fight but:
#1 you shouldn't have to buy a ref Pizza, the concession stand should provide it.

#2 Trust me , i mean Trust me, If you seen some of the younger refs thats up and comming, you would miss him. Trust me
#84
Norm's post explains it all. He has no clue what he is talking about or who. Fans just like to shoot off their mouth and it don't matter if they are right because they think they are. I'm sorry that you have to pay for your food Norm!

In a time out here, I will take Whitley in the best game of the week regardless of the injury situation. If this many people are playing off the game as less important than next week's for somerset then the players are probably picking up this feeling also. Can't believe this is ever a good way to approach a game. Whitley 20-somerset 14

Buffalo Bildos Wrote:I believe Somerset's going to take this one. Their linebacker core is MUCH bigger than they were last year so that will help to stop Bryant which we couldn't consistently seem to do last year. Gonna be glad to hear that song "Another one bites the dust" after the game (returning the favor). I also think Coach Lucas will have his team ready to play after being very dissapointed about last years loss to Whitley. Somerset will continue on with a 2 game winning streak! Just hope we can stay healthy as we have some jumpers banged up right now.

At Whitley county You have to worry about two fleet backs that is where you will have big time problems Mills, and Ysidro the quarterback, they7 have made good linebackers bit the dust and are getting better each game, you might be chewing a little dust if they are on their game.:blabbermo:thanks:
