They would spend it in Huntington or other part of WV on recruiting trips. Does the KHSAA care? No. However if it was a program like highlands they'd be all over it. Not sure if I should Laugh more at the KHSAA or mcpeek. Who compared his "new" running back to anyone he ever played with at Marshall. Who keep in mind included Ahmad Bradshaw.
They live in Ashland and Westwood. What's the problem???!

Funny how it is ok for kids to transfer in to just play sports at Fairview and they had some of the most vocal opinions on how Rose Hill was cheating for doing the very same thing. Well, that is until they had several transfer from Rose Hill to come to Westwood the last few years. Nothing like changing one's tune when it fits their own needs, lol.

Raceland has more transfers than anybody in the area.

We know, you've made that abundantly clear in more than one post. I guess those kids that have transferred in from Russell to Raceland are the reason for the recent Russell nose dive?

...nose dive?, ...nose dive? I think its more like a CRASH and BURN !! over the last few years.

2010 region finals
2011 lost in round two of playoffs

I'm one of these Ram faithful. Beating the tomcats's and the devils is only area bragging rights. Winning the district and then the regional is what its all about. I for one wouldn't mind giving back all the wins to the tomcats and devils for a couple regional championship. It's great to beat them. And I cherish everyone of them. But to do what Russell did in 2010 is what its all about. I want my kids playing for the regional and state championships.. Nothing less will make me totally happy. I do believe this team has a chance to go deep in the playoffs. And the next few years are looking awesome for the RAMs.
The devils should feel good about what they accomplished in those two years. Those were even down years. Nobody thought the devils would go that far. ... Except maybe the players and coaches!!

It had an effect. You've got 4 or 5 kids in the starting lineup that some would say should be at Russell. Some had valid reasons for transferring some did not IMO. That's not for me to judge.
But it has had an effect in those two classes. It helped the Ams and it hurt Russsell. I don't think anybody will deny that.
My only point is Raceland has more transfers than anybody so why do the Raceland fans complain when Fairview gets them.

If you are just going to be reasonable your going to kill the argument.

At least those kids are in state, sad when a school has to go across state lines to grab players. But that is the norm in the wood I guess.
09-20-2012, 06:01 PM
They are still transfers.
09-20-2012, 07:42 PM
The nose dive statement was in regards to Russell's recent performance against Raceland and not the program as a whole.
09-20-2012, 07:46 PM
That has sucked.

Might be, but I would dare to say that their transfer to Raceland is a lot more legit and certainly more ethical than what is and has been going on at Fairview for several years now, and it goes beyond some students just coming there to play sports, getting special treatment away from school goes on more often than not there as well.

The appearance of impropriety is definitely lingering over Westwood.

Ive said it before and i'll say it again, Fairview will always play horribly weak schedules and dominate and feel good about themselves like tear down goal posts after beating 1-9 teams. Thats all fine and dandy but then lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs again and again, simply because Mcpeeks team is not prepared to face tough teams and prepared to face adversity when it strikes because they do not face it during the season. I guess hes content with that though

Everybody wants to talk trash. It isn't our fault nobody will play us. Everybody whines and cries saying were recruiting. Investigation was done, no wrong doing was found. So get over it. But when Ashland, Raceland does it, it just fine. It wasent too long ago fairview was a doormat, coach Mcpeek turned It around. And the comment about losing in 2nd round of playoffs, fairview has been the only team still playing for a regional championship. Not Raceland Ashland Russell nobody.

I would really like to see this list of teams who "won't" play Fairview.

I think that list would be VERY short especially with regard to real football programs. I am sure the Eagles would be welcome at Belfry, Johnson Central, Ashland, Prestonsburg, Harlan County, Breathitt County and many others just in eastern ky. But I dont see that happening. It is like the old say "Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt", i guess it is better to keep acting like they are a real program than to play some of the Big Dogs and be exposed as a pretender.
Does anyone with real insight know if they have contacted any of these types of teams to play or do they just like to say "nobody will play us"?

I had a fan of the program tell me that McPeek had tried to schedule Ashland, Ironton and Russell. They wouldn't play Ashland because Ashland wanted both games to be played at Putnam, I can understand why, Fairview's field couldn't handle the capacity. I don't know what the deal with Ironton and Russell was, but he tried to make it sound like both programs feared the Wood. I think I mad him mad with I laughed at that.
Take it for what it's worth.
09-22-2012, 04:30 PM
Russell and Fairview couldn't work it because of the dates. I guess it depends which side you listen too as to who wouldn't. I know both sides tried but they just couldn't find a way to fit it in.
Maybe in the future.

Russell is willing to play Fairview, but not Raceland. I can understand Ashland not going Fairview to play, is Fairview not willing to play at Ashland and make some money. The Raceland guys make it sound like the paydays to play at Putnam are pretty good, surely they would get more money from playing at Ashland than playing Casey County and the like.
They should try scheduling some teams a little further south on US 23

Ashland reported fairview for recruiting that's why coach Mcpeek won't play them. Boyd co won't play, west carter probley wont either I seriously doubt Greenup will re new contract, other than Russell you said playing a single a team don't benefit them, who else is there around here??
09-22-2012, 08:05 PM
Ashland has nothing to gain by playing Fairview. It would be like FTH playing Bishop Brossart.
09-22-2012, 08:08 PM
I know that Raceland is actually Raceland-Worthington High School since the district is made up of Raceland and Worthington. I heard today that Fairview is actually Fariview-Cabell. Is that right?

The Russell/Raceland thing is complicated. It boils down to recruiting too. Right or wrong that is the reason.
Fairview just needs to find somebody. Their schedule does suck.

I guess instead of consolidating Raceland, Russell, and Greenup. Just should call Raceland, North Greenup co cause all they're players come from Russell and Greenup co

Sorry Harry but that's a horrible comparison. With Everbody Eligible Fairview is better than Ashland at the skill positions. Ashland is better up from on both sides of the ball and would probably win though.
Highlands is better than Ashland and Brossart would get beat by Fairview as bad as Fairview wanted it to be.
Bad analogy.
It would be more akin to Highlands vs Beechwood on a lower level.

What a bunch of a whiners....Harry, Truth, rambutt77, patch...you nut jobs need to get a life. If the KHSAA ruled in their favor, then whats the problem? If they were guilty the KHSAA would have ruled against them. Raceland has transfers, so does Russell, Ashland and if Rose Hill had a football program they would have them too...the Attorney, CPA and good doctor would have made sure of that.
