Conner rallied from a 22-point deficit to upend Campbell County on the road Friday, 35-28.

Junior quarterback Drew Barker led a potent passing attack that helped the Cougars overcome a lackluster first half to pick up the victory.

Barker accounted for four of his squad’s five touchdowns and completed 32 of his 47 passes for 371 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Conner (3-1), ranked No. 5 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches’ poll, started and ended its comeback with touchdown passes from Barker to senior receiver Brady Padget.

Campbell County, ranked No. 6, built a 21-0 third-quarter lead before Conner found its offensive rhythm. Barker made up for struggles in the kicking game by rushing for a pair of two-point conversions in the fourth quarter.

“I think he’s doing some really good things,” Conner coach David Trosper said. “He continues to get better. He’s a winner, he wants to continue to win and he challenges himself to get better.”

Barker has received scholarship offers from UC, Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, South Carolina and Western Kentucky.

Cougars senior Cameron Fogel also proved to be a dynamic offensive threat, as he hauled in 12 catches for 164 yards as well as having six carries for 74 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Campbell County senior quarterback Tyler Durham threw and ran for a score to lead the Camels (2-3).
