Couldn't get the job done at SC, won't get it done here. Overrated.

I just wonder if Coach Spurlock still has his attorney going after the Big Sandy News....lol. This is all a big joke. I dont blame the kid for bettering himself but all these coaaches leaving schools every other yr and going to another and recruiting their players to come with them. In my opinion Julian Tackett should be at the unemployment office tomorrow morning because we obviously have no use for anyone in his position. High School basketball has became an AAU fall and winter league.

You have to feel a little bit for sc and for martin co. The hire a coach who has a track record of not staying long at one place. He there for two yrs, should of went to rupp last year and its been a long time for sc, had high expectations this yr, then the coach quits in sept and blows out of town with their best player, how long has it been since they had a player comparable to johnson? Kind of sad for the folks in martin co.

And by all accounts they are hiring another Coach who they are hoping brings some kids with him or gets kids from another school....crazy.

A bouncy kid with plenty of energy to burn, he makes an impact on the glass, runs the floor and shows some touch on short jumpers. He's far from a finished product, but looking to be a high-major prospect and somebody who will jump into four-star territory.

The coach had probably the best opportunity he has ever had. An opportunity about any other coach would have taken. Sorry for SC. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

Wow.. Just when you think PCC may be out of the region talk this happens.
Can't wait to see this guy play.

You ever watch him and Johnson Play?

Anybody in their right mind would have taken the PCC job, heck Al Holland even called about the job! I do feel bad for SC, but the nature of the coaching positions is to move to the top as quick as you can. This was an excellent opportunity for Spurlock, one that may not have came around for another ten years! Do u blame him! It is the best overall program in Eastern Ky for the most part. I know they haven't won state championships, but year in and year out, they are always competitive. Where else can u go and compete for a regional title every single year, get ur grades given to u, and get ur ACT score up, lol? jK...I really just went ahead and stated that before someone else did the trash talking, lol.

Everyone should've known this was happening, especially after Spurlock jumps ship to PCC. I for one cannot wait to see just how good this team will be!

what a joke:ChairHit: Spurlock is a snake.

Forget winning the 14th. Johnson could very easily make PCC a top 10 team in the state by year's end. Too bad for SC. They lost a great coach and an unbelievable athlete

Wasn't PCC a top ten team last year?

is the word loyalty still in the dictionary?

If he gets eligible this team is gonna be scary good! Johnson is one of the better players iv ever watched and you throw him with Beverly and Cornett and call me crazy but IMO they have a serious shot of making a deep run at State Tournament but hey long season anything can happen!

lol, this 14th and 15th region stuff just keeps getting better.
Honestly, i hope everything goes well and id like to see a mountain team compete for state, but how can teams do this so many times? lol

The whole turn of events just smells rotten. A coach leaves a school and then the best player from the previous school decides to leave and goes to the same school the coach is at? Come on? I could maybe see a player deciding to leave for JC or Paintsville or a Floyd or Pike Co school, but Martin Co. Isn't exactly sitting next to Perry, or at least it wasn't last week. Does the family intend to move or is there new adoption rules that have just been passed? Is someone from Martin Co. considered to be classified in the foreign exchange program and a " host" family can get em? :dontthink. If Spurlock said ANYTHING, even out of joking about Johnson going with or coming over, then that is recruiting! Get mad or whatever, but truth is truth! I have no knowledge of anything that has went on or what has been said, but this just smells fishy and I think raises a huge red flag on both PCC and Justin Johnson. If the KHSAA allows this to happen then the heck with their rule book, it means nothing:HitWall: ive heard people say I don't blame Justin for moving, this is a great opportunity for him. I call that bullcrap! If a college likes you and you're good, they will find you. No use for this kind of stuff to happen in HS sports. 15,16,17 yr old KIDS are encouraged and pressured into to many things. Lets just start branding them and tagging their ears at birth, so when they get older and if they have talent, we can sell them off to the highest bidder. All this might be legit, who knows, but 9 times out of 10 its usually not. Good luck to Justin, I hope it all works out for the best and you succeed, but I just hope you haven't sold your soul to people who see you as a ticket rather than a kid.

If this transfer isn't investigated thoroughly and some justification produced as to how this player can be eligible after a transfer that is obviously for purely athletic reasons, there is absolutely no point to have a regulatory organization whatsoever and it should disband now. This is an absolute farce, and flies in the face of basically every transfer rule that exists.
09-05-2012, 06:29 AM
The KHSAA is a joke when it comes to kids transferring so I expect nothing will be done. But I just wonder how Beverly and Cornette are going to feel having to defer to Johnson because surely he was not brought there to play second fiddle. Some in Martin County can say what they want but the majority is glad Spurlock is gone. I truly believe that the KHSAA ought to disband because allowing kids to simply transfer to follow a coach we might as well just play AAU because the KHSAA is both blind and deaf, all they see is green.

Lol, wow...really screwed SC good.

Johnson is taking a big risk here with this move. If he is declared ineligible, he would have to sit this year and have only one year remaining next year as a senior. His eligibility will be a crucial factor in Perry's season. This will probably be the same process J. Paige went through, and Johnson will sit for the first few games this year then he will be declared eligible to play.
09-05-2012, 08:55 AM
The family has moved already.
09-05-2012, 08:56 AM
It's been brought up on here 10 times you guys. The KHSAA can't read minds. Do you have concrete evidence that this kid moved for athletic reasons? My gut feeling is that he moved for athletic reasons, but I couldn't tell you 100% for sure. I've never spoken to the kid. Never met his family. I only know what people say on here. If you went to court for murder and everyone had a gut feeling you did it, but they had no evidence, how should they rule? It's like that Casey Anthony trial a while back. We were all pretty sure that the chick was guilty, but there was no evidence to prove it so the only choice was for her to walk. If this kid is deemed ineligible simply because it "smells fishy" then we are opening the door for a lot of kids that actually switch schools for legit reasons to not be allowed to play basketball.

As I asked in another thread... educationally how comparable is the 2 schools ? Hasn't the state taken over Perry Central due to low test scores ?

Prediction: Johnson becomes eligible for PCC. Their fan base rants all year long with several thousand posts on this site of how they are all world and state contenders. They draw Buckhorn in the first round of districts. John Noble shocks the world and sends the "Commode"ors home early once again!

In all seriousness though, if he does get eligible, WOW, 4 teams within the region will be serious contenders and would make for a very exciting season. It would be hard to pick a favorite between Hazard, Knott, Perry and Breathitt. Is all four of these teams in the WYMT Classic this year?

No one has said that this move is for educational purposes if you are trying to refute someone's argument for that. But I doubt Perry is any better than Sheldon Clark
09-05-2012, 10:58 AM
If Johnson would of moved to Scott County, nobody would of said a word or could of cared less. Knott done the same thing with the Justice clan. It just so happens that Johnson is the top player in all of Eastern Kentucky and he is now a Commodore. I know Hazard would of loved to of had him enroll up there. I dont have nothing against Martin County, but where would you rather live? Hazard or Inez? Thats pretty much a no brainer. Especially if you are a really good athlete. Hazard isnt paradise but its a lot closer to larger cities and they are basketball crazy there. Glad to have you JJ. And this is the highpoint in a lot of peoples lives. High School sports mean a lot.
