Boys I tried to explain last week that the game against Russell County was a terrible opening game for Whitley. Good win for the Whitley faithful and may the nay Sayers get off the boys backs. GOOD JOB YOUNG MEN!

Yeah, can anyone post Bryant's stats?

Congrats to the Colonels. Defense looked good. Anytime you put up Bull Nuts it's nice. Bryant looked strong as always but how about this Zach Mills, I'm really looking forward to watching him over the next four years. All around great team effort. Heard the pads popping all the way on the hill. ROLL COLONELS!!!!:trolldad2:

Wow. theres so much i want to say i may forget some of it.
First off, let me say, Rock, i always enjoy our matchups. Some of the best fans around.
Now, as for the game, IMO, and i think Rock fans will agree, Whitley should have scored around 50. Four TD's called back for holding. On the SAME series we scored three consecutive plays in a role from over 40 yards out and the first two were nullified. Also, our Frosh stud run the opening kick off back but it was called back do to a hold. However, im not complaining, we held, im not going on about the refs like a lot of people do, its definitely something we need to work on.
As for the game, we limited Rock to around a 100 yards of total offense. It was one of the best defensive performances ive seen in years. Every player stepped up at one point tonight. Im also pleased to know that after talking to one of our coaches that next week we will officially have 67 players on the roster and everyone will be ready to go. This may be one of the best numbers ever at Whitley. Rock barely crossed midfield and the closest they ever got to a TD was the 43 according to the radio after the game.
What about a game from our frosh Mills? He simply out ran and out manuvered so many Rock defenders. Im glad to see some of these younger kids stepping up. The future looks very bright. I wouldnt be surprised if we played 25 different guys on defense throughout the course of the game, and all did very well.
Next, passing. I dont know if it was an off night or what but we passed for 77 yards and that number was the only bright spot. Our young QB still has a lot to learn when it comes to the passing game. Overthrown and underthrown balls costed us a lot of points tonight. I cant believe we attempted as many passes as we did. It had to have been close to 15-20. I heard a comment after the game that even though we two games into the season, were only 30 or 40 yards away from passing the total yards of passing we had all of last year.
Bryant didnt have a huge offensive game, 1 TD under a 100 yards, but as ive said all along his presence on defense is more valuable. He has an exceptional game on defense and laid the wood to several Rock runners. Also, the Jackson kid continues to prove that taking the last two years off didnt hurt him at all. The kid is a head hunter on D and powers his way with speed as well while running the ball.
You have to be happy with a shutout after last weeks game. Its looking like Russell County may be the toughest opponent we will face in the regular season, which could be a good thing considering in our first game of the year, we didnt do to horrible, but Russell is maybe the most underrated teams in the state.
Looking forward to another trip to log mountain. I think its winnable. If we play defesne like we did tonight, and dont make the same mistakes we did on defense, its very possible that we take down the team that hasnt lost to a mountain team in 6 years. Should be a good one.

First of Hats of to Whitley. Hands down the better team. I think the bryant kid is almost a better Linebacker the he is a Full back, Heck of a player. Whitley Scored 4 plays in a roll, 3 were called back. to make things worst the first three almost looked like a replay of the time before. I hope Whitley does well the rest of the season I will be keeping a eye on you. As for rock same as last week. Playing heartless Defense for the most part. Arm talking wont do it. Things are not working, they have to try something different. move guys around to different spots or something. I also didn't like the way coach Parkey had no sense of urgency with his team down 21-0 with 2 min in the third. The game wasn't over. seem like he was just wanted to get the game over then try to make a comeback. I would like to give a shout out to Rock QB Corey. things didnt go his way but he played his but off

I was shocked when Parkey went for it on 4th down early in the game. It seemed it killed any chance of Rock making a run when the play was blown up in the backfield.

IDk if it was a bad snap or what it was just ugly.Hopefully this group can get some confidence next week and pull one out. its gonna be a long year!

Congrats and I also want to say congrats toGUT because I could tell that he was excited about this team this year.

Rock will win some ball games. Its in there DNA.
Heard from a pretty good source that the series may not be over like i had been told after all.
Even the radio announced that while this is the last year of the contract between us, Black has said he would sign a 100 year deal with Rock as long as Parkey will.
Lets hope it continues.

Thanks man. We have a nice team.
The last couple of year i havent had much to talk about on here and last year i predicted in the preseason that wed go 3-8 and we did.
I dont blow smoke, if i think were good ill tell you, if i think were bad ill tell you.
Tough games against Bell again next week.
It would be sweet to end that mountain streak.

I forgot to add that, due to interstate work, Rock didnt even arrive on campus until close to 7 oclock. IMO, it made for a very sluggish first qtr. I cant believe nobody informed Rocks bus driver that he may want to take 25 as it was severely backed up, my bro said it took him an hour and a half to get from london to corbin today.
09-01-2012, 06:21 AM
I was pretty confident that WC would win this game, but for the D to pitch the shutout was a surprise. The offense is multi-dimensional this year which takes some pressure off of Boss. I've said a couple times now that he is a better LB than FB (and he's one of the top FB's in the state). Anxious to see what happens next week.
09-01-2012, 06:28 AM
Yeah, the interstate was a parking lot. We left at a little after 5pm and got there at 7:30. Congrats to Whitley on the win and good luck next week on the Mountain.
I don't know what to say about this group. All I know is I left not feeling mad or disgusted at my kid which is a big condolence on losses like the ones we've endured for the past two weeks. Tonight he played hard football. I patted him on the back when he came out of the locker room because he played his guts out. And I filled those guts in London on the way home because he earned it.
