I wasn't expecting them to lose to Morristown West and I am sure that they weren't either so they're going to be even more motivated and hungry for a win! Black Bears win this one!

Harlan Co. - 35

I cant see Harlan County giving up that many points. The Filthy Animals are mad and hungry, don't see Creek's passing game having enough time to wait on their recievers to get open.

I agree but am anxious to see TC quarterback in action. After last week, I couldn't believe the accuracy of those timing pass plays!!

Are you talking about the West Jessamine game?

I will take Harlan Co. 28-14. IMHO, too much smash mouth football.
#42
I dont think Harlan, cent is as good as everyone on here thinks they are, I may be wrong and it want be the first time. Whitley is my pick to win the district.

No, CreekFan. I was speaking of the QB for Morristown West. I hadn't heard very much about him, but he was able to place that football with precision that surprised me. He had one pass that they used twice against us, and it was phenomenal how he could place that ball!

HC will continue the power running game but I doubt Tates Creek will be as good up front on defense as morristown west was and Jake Middleton is definitely not an easy person to bring down, if he can get to the secondary he will make plays, along with Cole Wilson and Treyvon Long.
#46
Harlan County will need to be careful so they wont mess up and be 0-2 at teh start of the seasonhttp://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/images/smilies/flush.gif

Harlan Central isn't very good, because there is no such thing they are simply Harlan County.

Not trying to be too rude just a pet peeve!

Wow, why didn't he play last year? I believe it was his freshman year when Bell went up to ol cawood field, and he moved the Ball very well, almost with ease on the D while others were struggling quite a bit.

Onto the topic, I hope HC wins this, but if Tates Creek can move the ball through the air, and do it well HC might be off to a 0-2 start. I hate to say it, but Larkey hasn't exactly showed much respect for very many passing attacks in his day. If HC is fast enough in the secondary and can make a few plays to put some doubt into the QB's head about throwing the ball, HC wins it.

Getting pressure to the QB is key!

I pick the Black Bears to win this one.

Harlan Co. is a very good football team. Tates Creek will not be able to stop the run. Harlan Co. will have 350+ rushing against Tates Creek Friday.

Nobody's argueing that... but can Harlan County stop Tates Creek's passing game? After what I've seen on film, maybe not... I'm either going to come back to this thread and give a big fat "I Told You So", or I will be eating crow... but this team can pass the ball!

I have watched both of these 2 teams and their respective games thus far. I can tell you that both teams are EXACTLY what the other team does not want to see. Both teams pose the biggest threats to hurt the other, the POWER running game of Harlan county vs. the Team Speed and Spread offense of Tates Creek.

The biggest mismatch of the game will be Harlan's line vs. Creek's line. With the second biggest mismatch being Tates Creek Team Speed and athleticism with it's spread offense vs. Harlan.

Tates Creek has played 2 Power running teams in a row and beat #4 ranked in 6A Louisville Butler (35-28)(scrimmage) and Power running team West Jessamine in an easy 28-9 victory. Tates Creek boasts several big time athletes and D1 prospects. Starting with Mr. everything #32 PreSeason 1st team All State Dennis Oxendine (RB,DB). He will be by far the best player on the field and will more than likely have a big game (win or lose). Right behind him will more than likely be JR. WR/DB #19 RJ Taylor who is being recruited by teams such as O State, Michigan, Nebraska etc (sub 4.5 speed mixed with elite route running and great hands)..........And the pleasant surprise for the year has to be the young QB Graham Gordon who has been nothing short of amazing thus far. Posting gaudy numbers in the range of 29-34 for 381 yards and 4 TDS including the Butler scrimmage. Also, WR Tavon Dunn (6 catches 105 yards and a TD last week) and JR. RB Casey Grimes along with SR. RB/LB Marcus Wilkerson give Tates Creek a cupboard filled with playmakers.

Harlan has no identity crisis as it knows exactly who it is, it's going to line up and shove it down your throat until you like it or do something about it. Bullish Middleton in the backfield behind a very strong line poses a problem for most teams. And that is especially true for Tates Creek as it is smallish on the D front, although very fast. Harlan is also very well coached and is establishing a very nice program. Underrated is Harlan County's tough Defensive front that is the strength of it's D.

This has THRILLER written all over it. 2 teams very adept at what they do, and the other does not excell at stopping each others strength. I see a shootout with the determing factor being Turnovers and Special Teams. I can see both Middleton and Oxendine having big days on the Ground but Creek being very efficient once again through the air having more firepower and pulling out a hard fought 34-30 victory. Good luck to all.

The Bears have to limit the big plays and keep pressure on the QB.
#60
If TC really has a good QB along with a wr with sub 4.5 speed and a 1st team all state rb they will score probably on 80% of their possesions. Hopefully the time consuming ground game of HC will limit the TC offense to a low number of possesions.
