Russell County @ Whitley County 8/24

Predictions, Thoughts?

This is definitley an interesting game.
IMO, this could be the game of the year, and its the first game of the year for Whitley.
Russell County comes out and embarrasses Campbellsville 51-0.

To be honest I dont know which way this will go. IMO, Russell County is a top 6 or 7 team in all of 4A and Whitley is a year older.

Should be a great game to get out and watch.

Will be a very physical game! We played a little sloppy especially in the passing game against Campbellsville...but our guys were hitting harder than I have ever seen them hit!
#4
Russell Co. 28 Whitley Co. 20 Think I will make the trip down and watch this one.
#5
Will be a great game. I will predict Russell County by 7. ONLY because of their speed. I would not be surprised to see Bryant carry them to a win. The Lakers did not handle physical big lines last year. They will have a tough time on defense.

I hope your right buddy.

I am sure that Whitley will try to keep our offense off the field by pounding the rock but it is hard to imagine anyone holding us to 14 points. I don't think we will be pushed around as much this year. Line is much stronger and linebackers are VERY physical! Ought to be a great game!

It wouldnt surprise me to see both teams score atleast 4TD's.
#10
I called this one as a great game to see my heart says Whitley but my head says Russell by 10

This game should be a hard hitting, down to the wire, brawl. If you looked at the game stats from last year without looking at the score you would have thought WC won by a TD or more, but the real difference was Lucas Williams' ability to turn the field with his leg. I expect nothing different this year. Russell Co 2012 is a much stronger more physical team, and they showed a different look on offense against Campbellsville. So, this could be interesting. Regardless who comes out on top....these are the kinds of games that make you better come playoff time.

Prediction to come later in the week.

Lookin for a hard fought game. Russell's D will have to shut down the Bryant kid and for Whitley to shut down Britt. Should be a interesting game and im looking forward to it. I pick russell on top 30-17

Have your trainers ready with ice and tape for this one.

Home is a wonderful place, and will help.

Bryant ran well against Russell Co. last year in his first start at FB and he has gotten bigger stronger and faster, plus he has some nice weapons to go along with him this year, it ain't just the Boss Show this year.

Britt is a GREAT running back and will get his yards you just need to limit his big plays, plus contain the QB.

Good Luck to Both Teams.

I'm going with the upset. I think Russell Co cannot stop Bryant. I think Russell will score some long play TD's because of their speed but I think Whitley is too rough in the trenches for RC to stop. I think the first cupcake game will come back to haunt RC in this game. Whitley will be much more physical and I don't think RC will be ready for it. Whitley 35 Russell Co 31

This should be a Good one, Saw Russell at WKU Camp lot's of nice Skilled people. QB, Britt ,#20 RB, Good receivers and a Great kicker. Whitley is suppost to be much improved. Well Whitley here is your chance to prove it. I Take Russell by a TD because of their Speed. Speed Kills.

Our boys know what we are walking into! No one is going in expecting to play the same team we shut out last year...But Bryant and the boys shouldn't expect the same team that they ran over between the twenties last year either! We will learn a lot Friday night. No matter the outcome I expect both teams to make some noise in the playoffs!

Russell Co.

Russell Co 35 Whitley 6

saw both teams last year. Russell was much better IMO and returns everyone.

This game was a turning point for the Laker D last year. There were a lot of questions about whether they could live up to standards of the offense. They gave up a lot of yardage, but they held strong once WC got down to the red zone. I believe it was this particular game that they all began to believe that they had the ability to play with the bigger stronger teams.

The difference this year is that Lakers have gotten bigger and stronger themselves.....this may be the biggest Laker team ever. Whitley County only had one real horse during this game last year, but Ysidro developed steadily throughout last season and has given WC another option in their option offense. The key to game for the Lakers will be to stop Bryant without loading up the box so much that the option opens up too much. The Key to game for WC is to try to stop Britt and not forget that there are 3-4 other Lakers on the field capable of the big play. I still give the slight edge to the Lakers:

Have y'all seen Whitley counties line they are not very big . Everyones talking about how big they are.
#22
I think this game depends on who can step up and make plays for Russell County other than Britt. If others do, Whitley could suffer another opening game loss like last season. However, Whitleys backfield is stacked this year, but as the oompa loompa above said, our line has a lot of proving to do.
It seems after both of our scrimmages, tying with Johnson Central and beating Pulaski by around 4td's i can safely say were already better than last year.
Dont be surprised to see Whitley air it out a little more this year. Ysidro has become quite the scrambling QB.

Have to go with the Heart in this one, Whitley by a feild goal. Did Whitley's place kicker return this season or was he a senior?
#27
This is a good senior class at Whitley and have some hard nosed kids. Bryant,Sears,Vanover twins (are beast),Lawson are all very physical and will not go down at home easy. I think the home team wins this one in a close game if they can stop the pass. Whitley by 6
#28
Would love to watch this game!
#29
From what I understand, this could be the best Russell Co. team ever. I will take the lakers 28-14.
#30
I think Ysidro may have enough with Hooper to pull it off.
