This is not the Tates Creek of old. Harlan should run away with this one. irateSho

Harlan Co will bounce back in a blowout!

Going with HC in this one. Best of luck to the Black Bears!

I hope so. I'll be somewhat anxious to see how we respond.

What has happened to Cory Chorak? I looked for him to have a big season but I don't even see his name on the roster as being on the team this season.

You're right, this is not the Tates Creek of old. They play a spread out, pass oriented offense, rather than the heavy run offense that they used to play. They have a talented young QB, in sophmore Graham Gordon, who completed 16 of 20 passes for 176 yards in a scrimmage against #4 Butler (over just 3 quarters), and 15 of 19 passes for 205 yards in Fridays season opening win against West Jessamine. They have a lot of speed around him, as he completed passes to 7 different receivers including Tavon Dunn and RJ Taylor (both sub 4.5, 40 guys). They also have the talented running back in Dennis Oxendine in the back field and in the slot (also a sub 4.5, 40 guy).
Their defense does have some trouble in the trenches against the run, so if Harlan County has some good runners this is a high scoring game... in my opinion... Either way, it should be a fun game to watch, but I doubt it will be a blow out for either team... Good Luck Commodores!!!

The Bears will be out in force and hungry for their first victory!! I'm anxious to see how they will respond, and how the apply the "tweaks" that I'm sure the coaching staff are going to have.
These two teams play quite different styles, but I think the Bears will get their first win of the season next Saturday.
Go Black Bears!!!

Harlan county 16 tc 7

16 to 7? No way... sorry, neither team has the defense to pull off this score... I agree with ballboy... I don't know who wins, but the winner of this game has to score over 28 points to pull out the "W"...

Harlan Co. has plenty of D to hold Tates Creek under 14 points. Morristown West had an exceptional offense that would be in the top 3 or 4 teams in 5A in Kentucky football.

I'm not doubting Harlan Co. football team, they have a great squad from what I've read. I'm just going off what I've seen from Creek, and read about HC. I think this is a high scoring game. I won't predict a score, but I'll be shocked if either team has less than 21 points on the board... We'll see... you can go to iHigh.com and see the Creek game against West Jessamine... they will throw the ball a lot... minimum of 20 to 25 times... HC will need a lot of speed in the secondary to stop Creeks offense. They are good at getting the ball into open space and making a play...

Tates Creek is always very fast and athletic, Harlan should beat them but as creekfan said their secondary is going to have to step up and play D. If they don't Creek could put up 30 points on them in passing.

I don't doubt that.

Harlan Co trying to avoid starting the season 0-2 with a win against Tatescreek in the Fayette Co I High Football Frenzy at Bryan Station High School. I normally would take Harlan Co without hesitation in this match up but something again tells me that this is going to be a very bad night for the mountain teams as Harlan Co loses on the road once again in heart breaking fashion 34-28 as Harlan fumbles away the game with under a min left in the game inside the red zone as they are about to tie the game with a TD and a lone extra point for the victory. Once again Tates Creek 34- 28 winner winner chicken dinner. a Very disappointing night for the mountains.

We have never relied on speed in secondary to stop the pass, it is always our speed on the defensive line that stops the QB first from throwing it.

The Black Bears will make some adjustments and be ready. I read somewhere that Tates Creek is supposed to have a pretty good running back.

Dennis Oxendine, but he only had 4 carries for 70 yards last Friday. Junior Casey Grimes to got most of the carries. Creek was pretty well balanced on offence against West Jessamine, 23 running plays and 19 pass attempts

I'm guessing there might be more passing attempts Saturday. Black Bears are usually pretty good against the run. Its always intriguing to play new teams.
