Collins @ Boyle County 8/25
#1
Boyle County will host Collins in the second game of the Stuart Powell Bowl Saturday night. Allen County-Scottsville will face Mercer County in the first game.

Any thoughts or predictions on this one?

Forgot to add a poll. Could a mod add one for me?

I wonder about Boyle's defense,i guess it depends on which one shows up the one that held Highlands in check in the first half friday or the one that absolutely quit in the third quarter friday night.I'll still take Boyle 35 to 21.if the defense plays 4 quarters it won't be close.

I also wonder about Collins' defense. They looked really good in the first half against Meade County but looked very tired in the 2nd half. The defense will have to play better against Boyle.

Boyle could easily have scored 52 on Highlands, they dropped 3 passes that were easy TD'S.Believe me the Highlands game was closer than the score would indicate.Highlands scord 19 points off Boyle turnovers in the third quarter alone in probably a three minute time period, but if thier defense dosen't play 4 quarters Collins could win.

ACS turned the ball over 5 times against Bowling Green last night and paid a heavy price. The run dominate offense was stopped and the Patriots were forced to the air. BGs pass rush also gave us some trouble.
Bowling Green had the ball for over 10 minutes in the third quarter and wore the Pats defense down. Mental errors and jitters played a huge role in the outcome of the game. Bowling Green played very well and gave the boys at Allen a wake up call. I hope that people on here can give a little insite on Mercer. What O do they run? Who are the play makers? How would they stack up against a Bowling Green or Boyle? Just trying to get a feel for what the game will be like. If I remember from the game last year they like to throw it around a bit.

I am looking forward to coming back up to Boyle. You guys were great hosts last year when we played Boyle in week #2. Hope my Pats can get over such a loss. I'm sure they will be ready.

Would ofs and could ofs, HHS could also scored a couple of more if not for dropped passes, a blown whistle of on a fumble, and could of stopped Boyle scoring more if not for dumb penalties and if JV would not given up last score. It is all part of the game and HHS was the better team that night. You are not giving HHS enough credit for half time adjustments and coming out with more intensity the second half, it was not just the fumbles (one which the HHS D caused).

Boyle has a good team and will improve as the year goes and hopefully endurance will improve. That being said, I think they win this game easily, Collins was overrated last year with a very, very easy schedule. I still think 4A is a four horse race with Boyle,HHS, and the two catholics.

First of all this is not a Highlands thread, lets keep it that way.Highlands was the better team friday night, they made the plays to win,and Boyle didn't,thats all i have to say about that.lets keep this thread a Boyle, Collins thread.

You are the one to bring up Highlands in the thread first, if you do not want others to respond to you comments, do not bring it up.

I was only referring to how poorly Boyle played in the second half.believe me i could go a whole season without talking about Highlands,if it were possible.

^ But you just couldn't do itConfusednicker:

This game could be a good one.
Typical Highlands, Collins was not overrated the last couple of years nor weak schedule. Go figure.
Sounds like both teams ran into the first game conditioning problem.
Collins controlled the Meade game for 3 quarters. Showed that they have some big play makers.
They did what good football teams need to do. Took the ball in the last 6 minutes and drove it to eat up the clock. Could have scored at the end but decided to take the knee in the last couple of minutes.

Boyle Co

This will be an interesting game. I think Collins needs to put on a good performance to be taken seriously around the state as a contender. I still think it's anybody's game though but Boyle at home I'm going:

Boyle 31 Collins 21

I think this game is important for the Collins football program as a whole to put on a good performance and compete. Also just as important for Boyle to show they are still a top team to be reckoned with.

That is a very good point. Collins has a couple of more games on schedule to help judge them. @ Eastern in 2 weeks will also be a good judge. Will close the Season @ Bryan Station. 2 very good 6A teams.
WOW, @ Meade @ Boyle @ Eastern @ Bryan Station and Oldham Co. @ home.
So much for a weak Schedule...
#16
Not sure I would classify Bryan Station as a very good team, but it is not a weak schedule.
#17
I think Collins will score some points on Boyle...

...I just think Boyle will score a lot more.

Boyle 38
Collins 20

Boyle Co.

Wow, you really make me question your football knowledge when you list Meade and Oldham as quality opponents! Meade was 4-7, yes they are 6A and yes they beat you, but that does not make them a good team. Oldham is also 6A , and yes you beat them(not by much), but they are a bad team at 2-9. Just more examples of your weak schedule. Boyle is a good team and I predicted that Collins gets thumped by them. BS and Eastern are both 6A schools and good to fair teams and will give you all you want. Collins also beat Western by 1 point, Probably the worst team I saw play all last year.
#20
Collins - They have good team speed and want to show they can play high level football
#21
I don't understand how Collins was way overrated last year. They played every game on the road, won 11 games and were a touchdown away from the state championship. They may not have played the toughest schedule, but they play a decent schedule for a 4A program that is brand new.

But it doesnt really matter whether or not last years team was overrated because last years team wont be playing Boyle County Saturday night.

I agree, I am just saying if you want to win a championship, they need to play a tougher schedule to prepare for playoffs and the tougher east teams in the final. They are doing a great job for a new program and should strive to do better and keep the program strong. Win this week and it will do a lot to quiet the critics who say you do not play or beat anybody good.

Boyle wins by40 plus.

I don't think you can say that, though. At least two of those dropped passes came on drives where Boyle scored anyway.
#26
BC bounces back at home, wins by 17
#27
Well I don't think there is too many 4A teams that want to play this schedule.
Hey Boyle and Highlands has a great history. I am just saying that Collins isn't that far behind you.

We must have watched a diffrent game.

Farther than you think, if Collins would have been able to make it to the final the past two years, you would have seen for yourself. Look what happen to the teams from the West in the finals who Collens has had trouble with.
#30
Collins has a nice passing game and some athletes in the secondary. I don't think they can score many points on B C, maybe hit them for a big pass or two, but they should not be able to stop Boyle much at all. Maybe 42-14.
