I guess more will have to come out and support the Bobcats at home and away games.

Im worried about what will happen when Dave decides to hang up the announcing for us at Whitley.
Im sure Lennon will continue on with someone, but theyve been dong it over 20 years and hope they do for atleast 20 more, but all in all, the three Whitley county schools have great radio support.

Rockcastle County Rocket football has a great announce team. It is sad to hear that Bell County got dropped.

Why the drop?
I would assume that its more by viewers listening to the radio than it would be fans showing up to the game.

Coach Mills said it was more than that? It doesn't matter Bell County Football doesn't need that radio station anyway.

I do not see how it could not be a money maker. There is not that much over-head and you get lots of listeners. I would think that Bell would be an easie sell than Pineville and Middlesboro, but doing both schools you widen your sales base. I do not think contracts are the root of the problem, there has to be more to it.
WEZJ is now making ALL Whiltey games available on the internet. David Paul and Dave Lennon will be doing the game for the next 10-15 years at least. David sons are in the third grade and although he may step away from the booth when they play he will continue doing most games. You can go to http://www.ezcountry1043.com to hear all of the Whitley game, including the Bell Game, in a week or two you can get the IPhone app also to listen to the game on your smart phone. For WEZJ it is about promoting the school and the kids, they regularly interview the super and various other coaches from other sprots teams at the school. Also Whitley sports are an easy sell for most businesses in teh county

I would say it is because Pineville & Middlesboro are far more superior in football than Bell. :lmao:

yeah it sucks that Brian O'Brien's radio station dropped us from the radio station. its really stupid move.. i remember he was doing play by play during the games last year at bell county as the pa announcer and it was not good at all.. i enjoyed the music he would play just not his play by play.. guess i am used to hear bill stapleton our old pa announcer... i hope he does it this year....
08-18-2012, 01:10 AM
Absolutely agree with that. Brian couldn't hold a flame to Bill last year...even went as far as getting mad and bashing people who would call him out on it.

I sure Bill will be back at the mic. The other guy didnt have a clue.
I miss Russ and Rick on the radio.

I would look for another station, but if that is the only one and a lot of fans complained to the station Mgr. maybe they would get the message.

If you guys have some dedicated fans, a laptop and a microphone: you could always do your own radio show lol

All in good time bobcat fans. Another radio show in the works from another source. Be patient.
08-18-2012, 09:02 AM
I called the station yesterday once I heard Pineville, heard there wasnt enough sponsors to do it, so I have no clue whats going on!! But we do want to hear the game tho!!!
08-18-2012, 10:28 AM
Bell had the sponsors that is no problem for someone willing to do it. O'brien was not willing to do it. Someone called his hand called on some of the stupid Stuff he did at the games on the PA and he did not like it. The comments he made disrespecting the opposing teams was embarrassing and was not what the people at Bell are about. They will be better off without his ignorance.
As someone said a new radio station will be in place within the next week or so.

If I'm remembering correctly, the way he acted towards Bell County's fans and program during the Middlesboro game last year rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. Either way, a new station will be welcomed, and hopefully it's Rick and Russ calling the games, and Bill on the PA. The guy was awful all the way around, but had the support from the majority of the fans and program.

it was the wayne county game. right

It may have been, I'm not sure I tried to tune him out as much as possible. He was generally completely disrespectful to visiting teams for no reason, and I remember one game acted pretty disrespectful towards Bell County and rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. I didn't much care for his choice of pre-game music either..You come out on a perfect friday night for a football game, you don't wanna hear Justin Beiber and that rap crap blaring over the PA just before the game.
