- Ranked 350 in North Carolina

- Went 4-7 last year and went one and out in the playoffs. lost 7-6 against Rosman, NC

- Last year they had 31 players on their team.

- Last year they averaged 17.3 points per game

- 76.9 passing yards per game

- 185.9 rushing yards per game

Johnson Central shouldn't have a problem, I wouldn't think

How big is the check they are getting?
#5
This won't be much of a game.
#6
JC should be able to name the score......

I'd say running clock by middle of the 3rd period.
#7
Johnson Central 63
Hayesville 7

Excited to see what the Eagles bring to the table with a fresh backfield.
From the background check of Hayesville looks like the Eagles are going to take this one.
#9
Pointless to name a score, I just know that Johnson Central will score enough points to warrant a running clock.
#10
No matter if JC kills them or not. I just can't wait to see it! It's time for some football!!!!!!

yeap its on my list of possible games to attend.

Can't wait to see JC back in action. I think alot of people will overlook them because they lost the states all-time leading rusher....but they'll be pretty tough to handle this year.
GO EAGLES !!!

Hayesville to Paintsville is a haul!

Hayesville is on the GA border with no good way to get there...I bet that's a 6 hour drive

Jc 36-6

I remember a few years ago... JC played a team from Beckley, WV in this game. The score could have been 200-0 in favor of JC. Matney played his JV and frosh squad pretty much all of the 3rd qtr. and all of the 4th qtr. Heck, he even had the field goal unit attempt a field goal on a 1st down.

Like Jim Matney or not, he is not gonna leave his varsity squad in just to pad stats and demolish a smaller, younger team. District and rivalry games are a different animal.

JC

This team does have a new coach with 30plus years experience in South Carolina at a school with some state championship experience. So you may see an entirely different animal.

Very possible....

Does anybody know if North Carolina has anytype of BGR type site? I'd like to check it out if they do.

So I guess Woodford County is in the district then?

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

GO EAGLES !!!

I dont think anyone will overlook JCs backfield or them in general, Matney finds a way to win.

Should be a link to the local paper's article. Not much useful there, but it's all I could find.

There's a site called NCPreps with message boards, but they want you to pay to read it, so somebody else can check that out if they care enough. They probably just talk about Highlands there anyway. :devilflam

I was just referring to the fact that all winter and spring most people on here have been saying JC won't have anything now that Jude is gone. I mean absolutely no disrespect to JJ Jude by what I'm about to say...but everyone said the same thing after Ron Blume...and the same thing after Shawn Grim...and the same thing after Richardson....see the pattern. I agree totally...no one should overlook the JC backfield or any Matney team in general,...but it just seems like thats been a common thought over the last few months, that JC lost everything when the lost Jude...but that just isn't true. (again, no disrespect to Jude...I'm one of his biggest fans).
#25
Some of the athletes that have came through JC in the Matney era....
Ron Blume, J.K. Ratliff, Shawn Grim, Ian Welch, Nathaiel Dials, Michael Tackett, Tommy Taylor, Chase Richardson, Cody Parker, JJ Jude, Nate Dillion, Ross Sanor, J.K. Hall, Dennis Dillion, Trent Davis, Tanner Bratton, Sean Music.....
And the list could go on and on. These are just some players I can remember off the top of my head. And yes, every year we hear the same old thing "how is JC gonna replace So and So?" I guess it's something in the water in good ole' 'Johnsonville', cause we seem to always have players step up and fill the voids left by graduation.
#26
Your right that while the district is a little down as a whole this year jc will still win there share of games same for my tomcats. With the future being bright for both programs what seperates these 2 schools from the rest in the area is great coaching its about the systems and the team not individual players. So I believe JC will be just fine.

Bump...

Just a little over 7 hours 'til kickoff....
