15th Region preseason picks?
#1
My preseason pick:

Johnson Central Golden Eagles.
#2
East Ridge
#3
Sheldon Clark
#4
Another tight year for the region rank them top to bottom and anyone in the top 8 could win it.
#5
Johnson Central - Retursn everything--- enough said... Oh yeah they got HALL D1 prospect.

Betsy Layne - Loss Roberts which was huge but alot of returning talent. Need a big guy to step up.

Belfry - Messer is a load and will carry them deep. Tons of speed.

Sheldon Clark - Johnson is good but will be tough without Moore. Spurlock is a great coach and will have this youthful team ready come tournament time.

Shelby Valley - Top 3 leading scores return and the rumors of adding Rowe. Could be #1 by seasons end and another trip to Rupp.

East Ridge - Randy McCoy back at the helm. Great run last year. If Kasongo goes so may the season.

Paintsville - Didn't lose anything and with the regions top winningest coach of all time I'm putting them here preseason but in the championship game at the end of the year.

Pikeville - Tough to replace Branhams scoring and if its true that Rowe is going to SV then the Panthers will struggle to put points on the board.

Prestonsburg - The most talented team in 2012 with 10-11 players deep. Return their top 2 scorers but lost everything else (5 seniors). Will have good shooters but will struggle matching up defensively and rebounding. May drop to the list below by mid season.

The rest haven't a snowballs chance in my opinion.

Pike Central will be better than a lot think.
#7
Here is my top 5:

1) Johnson Central
2) Betsy Layne
3) Sheldon Clark
4) Shelby Valley
5) Pikeville

Others in the running - Paintsville, Belfry, East Ridge

It will be tough for anyone to beat Johnson Central.
#8
Johnson Central are the champs and will be #1 until someone takes them down. Any one of 5 or 6 teams are in the hunt.
#9
Sad to say this but Pikeville will be lucky to break even this year. Confusedtare:

Well, that's your opinion and I'm sure coach (BMR) would take back the nothing they lost this past season in a heart beat. I guess you also agreed with the "empty cupboard" comment made in the Paintsville Herald....LOL. Most would consider, your starting PG for the last 3 seasons and "TRUE" Team player, a some what of a loss.
And DON'T get me wrong. They have some VERY good young talent one the way up. I say another tough season this year. Then better and better each year after. As they say. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Have to be crazy to pick against Johnson Central right now. For Belfry, if Messer plays he'll be a top 5 player in the region and will carry the team moreso than last year.

 Here we go again. I never said anything negative. I think your son is a great young man and will be an outstanding adult and make a positive impact on society. All I'm saying is the entire team will return from last year with the exception of 1 player. I don't know his stats but the games I watched he could be replaced without a glitch. Again nothing negative just basketball isn't his best sport. Its fine to not be the best at everything as long as you are giving it your best. I will go on to say he had an great baseball season and will further his career at ALC and I congratulate him and wish him the best.

^Whatever man. It just seems everything that come out of your mouth is neg. toward him or is directed toward him in some hidden way. And YES what you said was neg toward him. I know he wasn't the best there. Not even close. But, YES there is a glitch.

Belfry, Lawrence, and Pike Central are the big question marks for me.

Belfry - Messer is 3rd best player in the region and they are talented, but just don't ever get it together.

Lawrence - Has a ton of 7, 8, and 9th grade talent and a new coach.

Pike Central -
This is the best group they have ever had at the school in 10th grade. Will they put it together.

Phelps will be the worst team in the state bar none, I don't see them winning or even being competitive in a single game.

Johnson Central/Sheldon Clark

Lawrence could be a possible sleeper late in the year. Very athletic bunch
#19
Lawrence is a young and talented team, not much size in the center but very skilled and deep in depth with the guard positions. Looking forward to watch this seasons team.

Not going to say what I heard just yet. BUT, IF the "RUMOR" I heard ends up being true! You can for sure add Paintsville into the mix! Got my fingers crossed!

Why make the comment, if you are not going to tell us??????? C'mon.....
Go ahead and spread the "rumor" with the rest of us and we'll just leave it at that.

LOL....Not big on spreading rumors. But, I am watching the situation very closely and as soon as I hear anything I will post it. Should know if there is any truth to what I heard in the next week or so. Til then...We will just have to stay be like we are watching Days Of Our Lives...LOL.

Nope, the regional champ years have been in '72, '75, '84, '00, '06, & '11.
