Harlan Ind. schedule for 2012

Mountain pride 10 Wrote:What say me is this, adults should be examples to kids at all times, would I be upset with my son if he were doing some of this? Yes, and I would explain to him why I think that it is in poor taste to do so. My issues with the subject at hand is that while I have coached many of the kids at HHS and HC that for some reason it's not right for me to want the Bears to do well because my kids went and still go to HHS. I agree that this and other sites are for expressing your opinions and that is what makes these things fun, but these are HIGH SCHOOL kids that are playing these sports and they do read these posts, my feeling is just when you are typing have a little class, and put your child in the cleats of the ones that you are voicing an opinion on.

We know you would be upset with your son if he were doing this because we understand you wouldn't want him talking about the dragons! Lol. It's all in fun big guy, don't get bent out of shape. Staying on this subject, I wonder which two schools hate each other the most in Kentucky. Over the years, can the Harlan County/Harlan city feud stack up with the rest of the state? I know I have tried my best to make it number 1 over the years! Since the school closings ( in football) we are concerned about Perry, Whitley, Letcher ect. But we always root for the team playing Harlan.

Saragas is a great player, but I really like the Morris kid from Harlan. I hope they try and get him the ball more in the run game.

Dakota Morris is an exceptional athlete. I have a feeling that we'll be seeing more of him this season. I have heard that they have moved some player around this season and the offense should have a new feel and look to it. But don't get me wrong,I believe they will throw the ball alot but with a little more run added in. There are other really good athletes on this team and I'm excited about the season.

Anyone have info on how the Dragons did in the 7 on 7 tourney at Jackson Co. today?

According to harlancountysports.com they won 3 of 4.
Sorry, I don't know how to post the article or link.

Morris is the Dragons best athlete hands down. Williams is more than capable of running the football and would be known throughout eastern KY if he had more chances with the ball? Will be interesting to see if the offense has a new feel or will they simply try to throw for 10,000 yards. Having said that IMHO i think Saragas could throw for a record number of yards and win that Battle! However, if he does i think Harlan loses the WAR?

Well, for once I agree with at least some of the things you've said. I think Harlan has some needed changes in store for this season.

It's on Harlan County Sports.com

I think the Dragons will have the big bodies up front this season to be more successful on the ground. But, they will still throw alot. They should be better at setting up the passing game. Problem with last season was, other than injuries, was that everyone knew what was coming.

Ol' Coach Donahue knows what he's doing. He will use his best weapons to win and, from his history, will run it if at all possible. Three sophomore OL starters much of last year weakened the run game. KHSAA stats: 283 passes = 2302 yards; 272 runs = 1204 yards. Almost same number of attempts for each but almost double the production in the air. Easy math.

He knows what he has in DeMarcus (my cousin), but DeMarcus was never healthy after the 1st game last year and missed 4 games completely. Less than 4 yards per carry (as he got last year) is not his usual performance. We will see a much better all around team from Harlan this year. Excited to watch.

Was told this is one of the best and well put together teams Harlan has ever had. Looking forward to see how they do this year. Around 13 seniors i believe, that could be the making of something good for the dragons. Also told they have outstanding skill players, a state top QB, and a backup for everyone of em, but you can't get anywhere without a line, how is the line looking over in dragon country ?

Saw the linemen last week and they will definitely be bigger and stronger across the line. Faster more than likely. The center is the smallest on the line but is one of the stronger linemen. The guards should be a senior Oky Boggs and junior Dakota Lewis, both are the strongest on the team. The tackle spots should be decided out of a group of about 4 upperclassmen all of Which have good size and speed. I have heard that Dalton Overbey will be doing time at the tight end position with an unbalanced line. I would say that unbalanced side would be every bit as strong as HC's. All this will prove to be a big factor for the Dragons this year. It's something we've not had in a few years. These should be able to open some big holes for Demarcus and Dakota Morris among others such as Ryan jones and Cody Logan. Harlan is loaded this year and I can't wait for it to start.

Why you got to go and compare it to HC? The Lizards might win every game they play but that one sentence is pretty funny and I would have to say you are wrong on that statement!

I know that 3 of those guys on that side Of the line are benching 300+. Does that not rival HC? Or does All of HC's lineman go 400+. I don't think so,Wildone.

P.S. real schools have water boys who bench 300 pounds! On a serious note, the bench press is about as useless a football lift as any! How much those guys clean? That is what you should be asking yourself?

I don't think upperbody strength is useless in football and it would take an idiot to say so.

Oh yeah and real schools aren't shrinking by an average of about 150 students per year. If the coal business doesn't pick up and people don't quit leaving this county then by the time county gets that stadium built they will be 1A. Lol.

Idiot, mighty mean word for joking around about football!

Funny eh? What you are saying is very true and if things don't change they will not even be 1 single a school in this county. Yeah that's real funny big buy! If you want to talk numbers Harlan county is better off numbers wise than most county schools in eastern ky. Bell co being the worst as far as losing pop. You must only go about an hour down the road to must most of them in Laurel co. Times are tough all the way around for everyone and I don't think it's a bit funny or lol! I pray something will change for the good every night so men as myself can feed their families and hope you would do the same? As far as Only one school and it being single a it would still be HC. You think the state would fork over 15 million dollars for a 60 plus million dollar school and close it down before Harlan ind. you are badly mistaken! Think about that and see if it's lol?

they will throw the ball all year imo.the qb's father is part of the off/play calling and you can guarantee the bomb is coming regardless if you have bo jackson and barry sanders in the backfield.check stats at end of year.75% pass 25% run.

I agree 100 percent. However, father son coaching isn't anything new to the dragons. Football, basketball and next year they will hire a different parent for baseball. Its all who you know and how much influence you have!

I'm ready to see the match up vs Williamsburg. It will be a test for both teams and possibly a preview of the district championship game.

Last time i checked, they were the dragons, not the lizards wildone89
And why you gotta come in here talkin ish? Not one bad thing was said about HC, just comparing lineman
Before i posted this i called to reassure, the dragons have 10 players powercleaning over 225 and two at 300, and several sqauting over 400
I dont understand why the county school cant be appreciative for he city on a year that theyre pretty.good, i mean yall dont even play each other

No problem with you Admire, lizards just sounds better? 10 over 225 is pretty good. The two at 300 is really good. Good job, shows a lot of hard work in the weight room.

If you put your faith in Harlan Co. coal, wildone,it will fail you. The Lord is my Caretaker and Savior and He'll see me and my family through. And yes my livelihood comes from coal. But,I'm a Christian before I'm a Dragon or a coalminer.

Already checked in early post, bruh

Plays were Pass 51/Run 49

Production though was 65 pass/35 run. Rush attempts aplenty but rush yards were slim.

DeMarcus will change that this year if healthy all year. You guys don't let facts get in the way of arguing though. Pretty fun to read.
