Greatest Rock Band of All Time
#1
Chicago?
#2
ACDC followed by Nirvana then the Foo Fighters.
#3
Guns and Roses was one of my favorites back in the day.
Metallica, Kiss, and Queen were great too.

I guess it depends on what generation you're from, but my favorite is Metallica.
#5
I honestly never like Metallica

From the 70's, it would have to be Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, CCR
From the 80's, it would have to be AC/DC, Metallica, Bon Jovi ( NO HAIR BANDS!)
From the 90's, it would have to be Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Kid Rock, Korn
From the 2000's, it would have to be Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, Seether

IMO.

I have a lot of favorites. I guess my answer will start with me tweaking the question.

What rock band could you listen to at any given time, for any reason, and for any amount of time?

To that I answer: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, CCR, AC/DC, (some) Metallica, Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, Nickelback, Daughtry, Seether.

Now that I am out of my wild teenager days, I have made a point to listen to as many instrumental versions of these groups songs. Angus Young can play the fire out of a guitar, but it tough to listen to some of their songs even though Bon Scott can rock the mic like its nobody's business.

I forgot about Pink Floyd and Kid Rock. Two other great bands.

I put down the one group that nobody would ever even consider. In my mid 50's, I still listen to ZZ Top, Bob Seger, The Beatles, AC/DC, CCR, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Zeppelin, and the such, so I consider myself a rock and roll guy. I could always listen to Chicago music, but was never really what you would consider a fan. When you think about Chicago, I never really thought of Chicago as being rockers. To me always a mellow soft rock ballad type of band.......BUT, while surfing through the channels last night I ran across a live concert of them. Wow, listening to Chicago on the radio and seeing a live performance is nowhere even close to being the same. Those old men can (as LWC said) "flat out play the fire" out of every instrument in the band, and when it comes to Chicago, there is a bunch of them. I was flat out astounded, (I can hear the snickers, lol) their musicianship is second to none.

In my mid 40's, I'm still chasing KISS! We are going to our THIRD farewell tour concert this August! I had the fortune to see most all of the great 70's rockers, though I was too young to appreciate it at the time. Sounds like a lot on here like Southern Rock, which I like, but is not my favorite. Chicago and Journey produced the two songs that is "Our Song" for my wife and I. Throw in Styx, Asia, Yes and you have some really nice date music. But they were too slow for me to consider as my style. I've always been a Metal Monster fan. Give me the fast strings and powerful percussion, and you have my style of rocking. As for being a fan of Rock, I can say I probably have tried and like them all. Individual, I have to put Ozzy as the single biggest influence to the 80's rockers. Add Alice Cooper and KISS, and you get the creativity of shows that makes concerts a "Show".

A close second for me to KISS is another 70's band that took most of their influence from KISS and that is Angel. I recommend you check them out, they were the opposite of the KISS look dressing in all White but also wore the 7" white platform shoes. They had the heavy drive of KISS and a sound that was close. They were more popular in Europe than in the US, but they were darn good!

this question is like asking who your favorite child is.
#15
Everybody is biased on this.

Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I think its a great question. I think this turns into more of a question of what is your favorite style of Rock than anything else.
#17
This generation I would say Foo Fighters or A7X.
Back in the day I guess I will go with Alice In Chains.

I just don't know how some of you are picking Queen. You are a female if you listen to Queen.
#18
Kid Rock doesn't rock anymore. He's gone country.
Theory of a Deadman? You call that rock? LOL
KoRn, I don't even think they are a band anymore - they all are probably in psych units or in rehab.

:lmao: This was funny, but you have to know about KoRn to get it.

Of all the styles of Rock, I could never get into Belly Scream, Hoarse Throat version.

The Beatles (IMO, probably the greatest of all time)
The Rolling Stones
The Beach Boys
The Who
