HACKNEY AND DERAMUS(PIKEVILLE), JONES AND HOWARD(BELFRY), FORD AND BESS(DANVILLE), WHO WOULD YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE BEST BACKFIELD EVER IN KY?:worthy:

Ashland has had 2 sets of great backfields
1990 Ashland - RB Juan Thomas, RB Chris Hutt, FB Charlie Johnson (All Thousand Yard Rushers on a State Championship team, QB also had 800 or so yards)
1997 Ashland - RB Jason Nichols and RB Jack Smith (Would have been one of the all-time best in KY but Jack broke his leg 3rd game of the season, at that time they were 1 and 2 for most rushing yards in the state)

Danville 2003: Kelvin Turner and Charles Penix (combined for 500 yards rushing against Beechwood in the state championship game--I still have nightmares about that one)
Beechwood 1991: Brandon Berger, Joey Johnson, Brad Wulfeck (each rushed for over 1200 yards during the season).

Doug Howard & David Jones - Belfry Pirates
Led the state's 3rd leading all-time rushing offense. In the state semi-finals & state finals (2004) these two combined for 858 yards & 10 TDs. Jones had 204 yards & 4 TDs against Russell in the semis, and 176 yards with 1 TD in the state finals against O'Cath. Howard had 200 yards & 2 TDs against Russell, and a state finals record of 278 yards with 3 TDs against O'Cath.
For their senior seasons their stats were unbelievable:
Jones: 176 carries 1805 yards & 32 Total TDs (10.3 ypc)
Howard: 198 carries 2138 yards & 31 Total TDs (10.8 ypc)
Thats my vote for best backfield in EKY history, but as far as KY history goes. I'd have to say any backfield that had Shaun Alexander in it. The Bryan Station backfield from the late '90s led by Eric Shelton gets my vote for second, and I feel comfortable putting Howard & Jones up against anybody else.

One to be considered is Blake Johnson, Sean Music, Shawn Grim, and Ron Blume from Johnson Central. They're not the best ever but they deserve to be up there some where.

Good call PHS fan, I would hate to live on the difference between those backfields!
Hackney, and Deramus, could very well be the best in KY history!
