LexCath hires True as girlsâ basketball coach
Scott True, who has been the girlsâ basketball coach at Clark County the last 11 years, is leaving the Lady Cardinals for Lexington Catholic.
True will succeed Chelsea Chowning, who was LexCathâs coach for two seasons.
True said LexCathâs tradition, which includes four state titles, appealed to him.
âThis is just a tremendous opportunity,â he said. âMy excitement level is pretty high because of whatâs already been done here and the chance to start some new things.â
True had an overall record of 179-138 at Clark County, highlighted by a 10th Region title in 2010. The Cards lost to Rockcastle County in the Sweet Sixteen quarterfinals that year.
True also guided Clark County to region runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2009.
True was an assistant basketball coach and tennis coach at Lexington Christian Academy before leaving to become Clark Countyâs coach in 2001.
