IMO they should remove Farmer based on his record as Ag Commissioner.

toussaints Wrote:i don't know if he should have his number retired, but i do think there should be a small place in Rupp or Memorial that honors past UK players and coaches that came from Kentucky. Guys like Darius Miller, Joe B. Hall, John Pelphrey, Richie Farmer, Jack Givens
They could have done that at the UK Basketball HOF at Rupp, but it went bankrupt and closed.

You know exactly why they are up there. They were apart of a TEAM that will be remembered forever and are beloved by many UK fans.
Does he belong up there...NO. Are there some up there that should not be....YES.
You all have to be fn kidding me. This was one of the most inconsistent players we had. The dude didnt even start and you want to give him a banner. WTF.
If you wanna give out a banner, give it to our first ever player of the year and the most dominating freshmen of all time, not to the 6th man.

He was better than any of the four I mentioned and it's not even close.
You said superstars. Those four were not superstars. Beloved yes. Superstars no.
So which is it? Make up your mind.

FBALL, I love you man, but I have to side with GUT on this one! I said before, those other players played so far above their talent level, the have to be rewarded. Darius scratched at his abilities, and was just as bad as he was good! He will be the last of a dieing breed, SENIORS, but that is still not enough for me. Will I be shocked to see him hanging from the rafters, No! But will still stand by my comments.
04-04-2012, 07:58 PM
I never said his should be hanging in the rafters. Only that you can't say it's just for superstars. That simply is not true.

I think LWC had the right of it in his original post. This is something that most fans will have to wait a couple years, step back and take a long look to really decide whether Darius is deserving of this honor. I love Darius as much as any UK fan and he will always be one of my favorite players to ever wear the UK uniform but I'm just not sold on it right now with everyone's emotions so high.

Dead nuts accurate! I agree, and have said as much also. Let's let the emotion wear off and look at this later. It's why they wait 5 years for athletes to be eligible for the HOF. This allows fact and fiction time to sort it out.

Miller was a huge part of the transformation at UK.
Theres no doubt about that...
Was he good enough to be considered as one of the greatest and to have his banner hung? NO.
As i said before there are a lot of players hanging up there that shouldnt be, but if you give Miller a banner, you might as well give all 5 starters a banner as they were a bigger part of the success this year.
But if your only gonna talk one player this year, its gotta be Davis. Ive already mentioned why in the last post, and like Dusty said, You have to look at the bigger picture.

Every player on this team got a banner. It says "NCAA Champion 2012".

No shit.
No shit.
04-05-2012, 01:04 PM
Yep, no shit. Maybe we should take that down as well since every player on the team is not a superstar.

Yes

There's a lot to be considered when putting a player/ coach/ supporter in the rafters.
1. What and how did they contribute to the program?
2. Why do people need to remember them in the future?
3. How did they represent the program?
4. How long were they here?
5. Stats, Accomplishments and Awards
I think Miller falls into the same category as guys like Wayne Turner, Scott Padgett and Jeff Sheppard. These guys made significant impact for Kentucky basketball and were a huge part of their teams success, but not rafters worthy... yet

Again, we can look back in a few years and feel more comfortable answering these questions. To do it now is full of emotion, because I can guarantee you anyone who would have said he should be immortalized now did NOT say that before this season. So, how much is based on emotion, versus true contribution? We'll see.

Why be a dousche bag everytiome somebody calls you out.
We know you cant stand it, but as soon as someone either calls your shit or proves you wrong, you keep on and keep on with pointless post that tries to change the subject.
Quit whinin
04-06-2012, 08:50 PM
I didn't change the subject and you haven't proven anything except maybe you know how to cuss and you have a difficult time with the English language in its written form. Surely you can do better than resorting to name calling. Well, probably not. If you can't take it don't talk it.

Yes...
He's been one of the most beloved players in UK history. It belongs up there...not just about potential filling or stats.

Theres nothing wrong with cussing, it my damn choice if i choose to do so Mr Mod since there is no rule against it.
Also, i never resorted to name calling, i never called you anything. I asked why you acted like a dousche, not that you are one.
And yes, i can take it, but can you? Your the one thats riled up..
And yes, i stand by my decision, Millers jersey should not be in the rafters unless we start reserving a special spot for the best 6th men in UK history.

I agree, if it happens I will be as happy as anyone for him. Do I think it will or should happen? I'm not so sure.

Actually it was "douche bag" which you still haven't spelled right. If you insist on trying to throw out insults you should at least have the courtesy to do it correctly.
I'm not the one that's riled up. I never said it was against the rules to cuss now did I? But if you want to debate a point of view your idea comes across much more clearly if you can articulate it without resorting to cuss words and name calling.
Finally I never said Miller's number belonged in the rafters. Only that being a "superstar" was not the only requirement for having a banner up there. Which you agreed with upon saying that the unforgettables were not there because they were superstars but because they were "beloved".
Have a nice day.

Im glad all you could come up with was being the grammar police and the fact i said a cuss word or two which i can do if i want and yet you havent once made a valid reason why his jersey should be hung in the rafters.
Way to work around it. That always seems to be your MO

You should work on your reading comprehension as well as grammar.
I'll spell it slow this time

You gotta love a good argument. If not there really is no point in getting on a site like this.
