The Lady Pirates return more talent any other team in the District, It's there's to lose. The Good news for Estill is that the District Tournament is at Estill County. Powell County (from the games I've seen) plays extremely well in Estill's Gym. If Your an Estill Fan like I am, The Lady Engineers only lose 2 players on next year's team so they will be in the running for the District Championship not only in 2013/14 but also 2014/15 but this is next year 2012/13. I did as well as some others counted out the Lady Pirates Last Year, I thought they were too young to win Districts and actually thought it would be between Estill and Owsley but was proved wrong, They came together when they needed to and they won Districts. Powell returns a lot of very good players from last year and Coach Jones does good things with that Program over in Stanton.

Powell will win the district the next 2, maybe 3 years.

I think it will be interesting to see how the teams outside of Powell look heading into the season. Owsley has a new coach (former boy's coach) Charlie Davidson. Estill lost quite a bit but have a difficult player to contain in Kennedy Flynn as well as other quality players. Lee returns Noe, who is a fantastic shooter, as well as a couple of up and comers.

Powell, only losing one senior, should look to improve on an unexpected district title run.

Owsley has some new and young ball players who are ready to make an impact.

Watch for lee to suprise some people this year!

It is just my opinion but I see this as Powell's to lose. They return the most talent after Estill and Owsley lost so much and they are finally an experienced team starting 4 juniors and 1 freshman. This is not a knock on the other teams in the district, just how I honestly see Powell being at the top. Time will certainly tell. and I'm always cheering for all the 56th district teams to do well.
