I heard Letcher Central be looking for a new coach as Coach Whitaker resigned.

Yes, Coach Whitaker tendered his resignation on Wednesday (2/29). There was a lot of tension between he and the administration. Some have called it being "forced out."

Letcher County Schools have cut 15 certified positions for 2012-2013 (not just pink slipped, cut), so it is going to be extremely hard to justify a large expenditure to bring in a big name coach.

IMO, the time is now for LCC.
They need to make the right choice, and get an experienced good coach in there, or a young energetic one that wants to solely focus on football.

Wish they would give it to Terry. He has grown up with these young men. A lot of players played for him and really look up to him. Letcher Co coaches are successful in all sports up there.

I would... unless he well connected in the coaching community, even then that doesn't give you the best chances in the world to move up. I know he isn't getting paid all that well at UPike.

I would say it was a forced resignation but that is only my opinion.

The first step in the hiring process would be to fire the committee that hired some of these coaches in the first place.

You are going to think that I am crazy, but Al Hollland Sr coaching basketball at LCC and his son is going to be the head football coach.. That is the rumor at the Corbin Arena by several official out of the 14th?

I have also heard that Letcher Central was going after Coach Holland Hard and that he was gonna go there. Haven't heard anything about Football

Whitaker was not forced out administration wanted him to stay . He's got a young grandson in Powel co .Wanting to spend more time with him.

Have you lost yor mind? Thats the problem now with LCC athletics. We already have enough Pee Wee coaches trying to coach at the high school level. If we don't get someone who will not give in to all the pressure from parents and the current administration telling the coaches what to do there will be no chance of rebuilding the program.

I agree.....anyone could go ask Eddie Whitaker about that!!!!
