Buckhorn 46 - Perry County Central 42
#91
zaga_fan Wrote:Did you guys expect us Perry fans to get on here and make excuses and claim that we got screwed or something?

Buckhorn is stacked with seniors
they went to the finals of the WYMT and lost to Knott but avenged that loss later in the season
they won the 14th Region All-A

This team was a great team and no matter what kind of trash any of us talked on a message board; anyone with any sense knew that Perry was not going to simply run through Buckhorn tonight...
or through the region for that matter.

Watch on Saturday night....
Buckhorn may not even win the District.
This is the most competitive and talented District around here and no one should be ashamed to lose to any of these teams.

The only reason you didn't was because myself and a few others posted that we couldn't wait to hear the excuses, but I commend you guys for not making any excuses. My question is will Hatcher be back and will Beverly stay at Perry?

Congrats to Buckhorn and Coach Noble with the big win. I will commend the Perry County posters for being gracious losers and showing good sportsmanship. The Perry nutjob posters have chosen to remain quiet and that makes this thread all the much better. I am one of the few people who has posted that hopes that Letcher Central can somehow pull it out in the region, but if they don't, go Buckhorn.

Anyone can take the time to go back and see when Perry loses that I don't come up with excuses. I simply eat my crow and move on.
Ask Harlan County fans Smile

As for your questions....
I couldn't tell you what Hatcher has planned because he simply won't tell anyone.

A few years ago it was rumored that he was headed to Pike County but no one around here knew anything of it. Someone posted that he interviewed in Pikeville on a given day and he showed up to summer ball practice a little late and wearing a suit lol

I can promise you it will be dealt with privately but Coach Hatcher knows that Perry County is behind him all the way. He's one of the best to ever walk the sidelines in the mountains and there is no denying that.

As for Brax....
Anything can happen and let the rumors fly...
but everyone is better suited to be prepared for him to wear Red and Black for four years.

I am not from perry county but I have been a fan of coach hatcher and have always thought he has a great basketball mind but after watchin tonights game I walk away with the impression that coach Noble out coached him. Hatchers plan was simple play that match zone/sagging man with huff guarding day and everyone else pretty evenly matched up except cornett guarding gay from buckhorn with the thought that allowing gay to shoot jumpers was what they were going to give buckhorn by cornett just kinda roaming the paint, only problem was both twins made perimeter shots especially trey who ironically knocked down a trey to win it. Hatcher allowed this to happen far to long but did correct it by subbing austin pray but putting him a smaller defender on day instead of huff and what did coach noble do... Day scored the nextthree buckets off the block. I thought Pray played well when he was in it was just a mismatch. Then hatcher went back with cornett and it ultimately got them in the end. PCC also looked very unprepared for the box and chaser on paige. Could not free him up and some of the time they did when he would pick and roll ball never got to him and in the second half it looked as if hatcher decided to just play 4 on 4. All respect to buckhorn and coach noble. Several years ago i coached against these buckhorn kids many games and they have stayed together and improved. Tonight was an example of feeling comfortable playing together sometimes trumps a superior athletic team. To the easterling kid from buckhorn, i was very impressed with how much you have improved and you played a heck of a game tonight as did trey gay. Respect for trevor combs as well, also coached against him and him play and develop. You played a solid game tonight. Good luck to buckhorn in the district championship.

I can't completely disagree with you when you say that Noble outcoached Hatcher...
but I will say this.

If the Commodores execute on offense and make those shots that they should have made......we would be talking about what a good job that Hatcher did.

But there is absolutely no doubt that Perry did little to counter the box-1 that Noble used on Paige and there is no doubt that they were gambling in regards to leaving Gay room to shoot....
Those two things ended up costing them big.

I was forced to come out of retirement tonight and it was maybe on the biggest upset loss in Perry Central's history lol

And also...
I posted my first few posts without reading what anyone else had to say.

You are definitely not in the nutjob category. A pain in the @$$ sometimes, but not a nutjob. Like me, you are a gracious loser 99% of the time no matter how much hell you give somebody.

I don't have a choice...
If I got on here and raised as much hell after a loss as I do prior to the game the world would probably implode.
This is the first time ive heard the score.....

WOW.

So this entire year of talking about PCC bball on this thread is pretty much useless? lol

Serious shocker. Its the great thing about high school bball.
ANEWPAT Wrote:Yes, Buckhorn shocked the world!!! I said from the start of the season that I pray no good came to any team that these out of state recruits and prays have been answered. I don't care who wins the region now because I know that regardless of who it is, they will do it with mountain boys!!!! Guess I am headed to Rupp this year after all.Confusednicker:

I hear the recruiting runs in the family with those Hatchers.
Paige couldn't get eligible to play in wv for Logan so that hatcher sent him to another hatcher in ky lol,, an hatcher will be at perry but it will be the one from Logan because it's so much easier to get recruits eligible in ky.
Well I wonder what Perry will do next year after the "high school transfers" graduate.
They might as well give up on trying to win because they can't win without em.

People hate on whomever is on top.
Just like ekff's signature states...
when you win games people always have something to say.

I don't care if Jaysean was recruited to play tiddly-winks and chess...
he's a good kid and no one "used" him.
He's trying to make the best out of his talent and Buckhorn stood in the way of that tonight.

If my kid has a shot to do something with his life and he has a better shot at doing that a few miles North, South, East or West I'm making sure that I do what I can to get them there.

Yea and it will get him/her a cup of coffee someday.

Cup of coffee?

If my kid has a shot at getting their college paid for at a small school if they play golf for Leslie County we're going to go to school at Leslie County.

I never thought I would say this, but Zaga is 100% correct!
Again, on any given night...that's what makes tournament season so exciting.
PCC had a great team this year, and arguably was out of the tournament too early.

Congratulations to Buckhorn!
Congrats to the horn!!!! they get done with local boys. A shout out to Wall2Wall, I don't think PCC is going to be running wild in Lexington.

More often then not, its the parents and kids who recruit the school other than the school recruiting the kid. As a parent you make choices everyday that impact your children. Hopefully those choices help them become a better person, whether it be ball or character. I am not saying this is the case with Paige because I don't know.

Thanks GB!
It's amazing..It only took John Noble and those "home grown" Wildcats 32 minutes to declare Jayshan Paige "ineligible"..What a victory for all "mountain boys"..
^^
My pleasure ZF...
We disagree on a lot of things, but the truth is the truth.
Anyone can be gracious and humble when they just got beat. Wonder what everyone's tone would have been had PCC won this game! As for Paige, no I don't blame him for moving schools if he thought that he had some benefit to gain. I do however blame the PCC coaches and administration if they lied, twisted and cheated to get him eligible. Which is exactly what has happened all year at every school that has had these out of state transfers. Not one of them can honestly say that their moves was not primarily to play basketball which makes everyone of them ineligible. Someone joked about Paige probably already being on a plane back to NY, wouldn't surprise me. I know that Hudson at Cordia was already planning to go back to Texas before the season even ended. Don't know if he will finish the year out or leave now, but he told his friends in Texas that he was going back home and would be playing AAU in Texas. Now, come August, let's see if he comes back to Cordia and if the KHSAA lets him play.

The parents may do the looking and moving, but the school has to submit the paper work to KHSAA and if they know the truth and submit lies, they are cheating.
You know something that I think all PCC and Horn fans are forgetting is that a Perry County team won tonight. Be proud of that. Now all Perry County residents ban together and support your schools. And yes, that includes Hazard.
Last time I checked, they were located in this great county of ours.
How can you say that!!! Buckhorn barely beat Hazard in the All A Classic. Knott beat them on a last second shot in the WYMT Classic. I wouldn't count out the bulldogs!!!
