Pikeville would NOT cheat - facts only!!!
#1
I have no clue what happened but I do know Pikeville would NEVER intentionally cheat. There had to be a misunderstanding of the rules.
Before you Pikeville haters who don't have a clue either jump in here, this thread is for people who know FACTS. I will call BS on Pike County Schools people who have transfers from all over the world (and WV too for the Belfry fans) who don't know FACTS. So PLEASE, what happened in the 8th grade state tourney? Remember, if you don't know FACTS, you will be called an uninformed idiot on this thread.
#2
As someone who knows a lot involved, I'll say your burying your head and hoping they didn't break rules knowingly but they did.

The rules are pretty clear and no one associated with the team is going to say they broke the rules.

They got disqualified and to do that down there it has to be pretty blatant that they cheated.
#3
^^No facts in your post, so in the rules of the thread posted in advance you are hereby dubbed an uniformed idiot. Feel free to post facts to shed your uniformed idiot status.
#4
FACT - Pikeville disqualified for using illegal player.

FACT - rules CLEARLY state you must play 5 games with YOUR team(not JV, Varsity, scrimmage) http://www.playkba.com/Documents/KBA%20T...0Rules.pdf

So the facts are either-

1 -your coaches/people in charge cannot read(shouldn't be the case with Pikeville's high academic standing) the rules

2 - They cheated hoping to slide by.

Any other assumption is just be foolish or looking through it with rose colored glasses.

If we are stating only facts where are yours? You state that Pikeville would not intentionally cheat (opinion) There had to be a misunderstanding of the rules (opinion). The point is whether it was intentional or not it happened and they were DQ'd no more no less (fact).
#6
Fact is this issue was being discussed on rivals prior to the tournament. Obviously, someone had to know to at least question the rule prior to the tournament, otherwise everyone from pikeville took two weeks off from reading on rivals. And I am not a Pikeville hater, I like all the kids, including the smith kid, and enjoy watching them play.

Fact: It's better to keep your mouth closed and let everyone assume your an idiot, then to open it and remove all doubt.

You have no clue, you're asking for facts, yet you are bringing nothing but a sorry attitude to this thread and bashing anyone who has a different opinion than you. Because that is all you are bringing here (an opinion).

You think the KBA in Lexington has an agenda against Pikeville High School?

The fact is this....They played a player who was not eligible. Simple as that. The fact that Brian Johnson thought it was ok to play a kid who just transfered earlier in the week (when he needed 5 games) goes to show how clueless and morally bankrupt he really is.

Pikeville has now been shown in an extreme negative light twice this season with Johnson as coach. If you are not sure, then don't play the kid. You'd think that since Pikeville was so good this year they wouldn't need a hired gun to win the state tournament.

Simple as that.

***Got this PM***Edited to not name names.......

<<I sent a PM so that no one questions my sources and I have to defend them. I do not want to give out my source so that that person does not get in any kind of trouble.

After Pikeville defeated Northern Pulaski in the semi-finals, a coach or administrator from Northern Pulaski (who I am told is friends with ***** ******) called ***** ******. ***** told him/her that Pikeville was not there representing the school. They did not take a bus and were not covered under school insurance. The team was there as an AAU team. This is the technicality that Pikeville was DQ'ed under.

Based on how the KBA rules are stated, a player must play 5 games with the team. Teddy played 5 games that week but not sanctioned middle school games. Pikeville's books and proof of student enrollment were checked before the game started and Pikeville was cleared.

To avoid this in the future, KBA will need to clarify that the player must play at least 5 middle school games during the regular and/or post season. Also, this could be stopped by having teams submit rosters in January.

So, technically (based on how the rule was stated), Pikeville did not break the rules. The coaching staff knew what the rule meant, but that was not what the rule said.

The way I understand it, ***** ****** threw them under the bus.

Hope that helps.>>

Did the Smith kid enroll at Pikeville on Monday and this tournament start on Friday?

Technically OJ did not kill anybody either.

Hey Jet go to the Teddy Smith to Pikeville thread and you will see the second poster in the thread mentioned this rule to Panther Thunder.

First of all, I have no dog in this fight. Based on my understanding of what happened, Pikeville was questioned before the game about the below rules (copied from KBA website) and all involved (I heard Dave Clevenger was there and isn't he from the Johns Creek area) agreed that Pikeville was eligible. Again, I do not have a dog in the fight. Just putting this out there for discussion.

- Grade Exclusive School KBA Tournaments Athletes Will Be Judged Age Eligible Using The Practices of the KHSAA Standards – see http://www.khsaa.org/handbook/bylaws/bylaw3.pdf
- For KBA Middle School State Tournaments, Players Must Have Played In At Least 5 Games With Their Team To Be Eligible
- Coaches Must Be Able To Prove Their Player’s Age and Grade Level Upon Request-Failure To Do So Could Result In Forfeit Of Games

Should we say any more about opening your mouth and removing any doubt. We have he said she said, no facts. The rules are very plain. I do believe someone is in the first stages of denial....Confusednicker:

Clevinger played a nice little role of getting Smith " in" at Pikeville so naturally he would say he was eligible

Im sure one of the names you "hid" with ****** is Kevin Garris, sp? Why in the world would the AD at Pikeville decide to turn on his own kids?

Once again Dave Clevenger screws up a tournament. :flush:

Not saying if you are right or wrong on the name but assuming the PM I received accurately describes what took place the answer to your question is to cover his own ass.

Fact = When you are describing a team or school with transfers from all over the world, the team that most resembles that statement was Pikeville football during the late eighties and early nineties.

That cuts deep JP, but luckily for me I wrote you off as an uninformed idiot long ago.

I must admit it is fun to watch some of the Pikeville faithful like JP here squirm. It must be embarrassing to have this happen since it is being talked about all over the state.

But back to the point. Pikeville knew this wasn't an AAU tournament so why did they treat it like one? They too good to ride a bus to Lexington? Also the idea that Smith should even be let on the team at the end of the season is a joke. The Pikeville kids that played together all season should have been able to play this one out and see what they were made of without a transfer coming in. No way he played 5 games that meant anything. One would think that the top Jr. High program in the nation wouldn't need to pick up players along the way to win.

Even if the "bus theory" is what caused the DQ, you could call it karma. Pikeville should have never been able to use Smith in the first place so it all worked out fair in the end.

There's more to all of this, like what is going on in the locker room to get lawyers involved? But we'll leave that out of it for now.

And I also find it comical that you mentioned Pike Co. Schools recruit from all over when Pikeville probably has the biggest history of recruiting in the 15th Region.

Whether this is true or not, this post is titled Pikeville would not cheat facts only. Your post and still no facts, only he said she said.

Haters will hate, go ahead. It's funny really. Not squirming at all. If Pikeville broke a rule they should be punished. And I agree that the new kid shouldn't have been allowed to join the team after the county tournament. I'll leave it at that, I'm done. Still nothing but hearsay but that's all we will ever get.

jetpilot Wrote:A jealous idiot is no way to go through life son. You don't have a clue what the heck you are talking about.

:lame: So you are saying that Pikeville did not have any transfers from out of state on any of those championship teams as well as teams that followed. If you sincerely believe that, you are a much bigger dumb@$$ than I thought. Oh yeah, probably not a dumb@$$, just an idiot from Pikeville.

Since you are wanting facts I will give you at least one, I talked with the Principal day before yesterday and asked him what was up with the Jr. High basketball program and he said, and this is his quote, they CHEATED and got caught, and thats a fact!
