Who is your favorite ref?
#1
We got some stinkers out there. Some poor fellows are to old to get up and down the floor and very often make calls based upon the assumption that contact was made.

Who do you like? Who would you rather not see on the court?

Please do not dis these guys. I used to ref and this is not an easy job to do. No one, I mean no one respects your effort no matter how much you try.

I hate a home grown ref. They will not call fairly. I was at the SF vs. JC game last year that went into dbl OT. The refs called for SF most fo the game but when it came to OT it was obvious they were calling for JC. I hate that. The kids should be able to win a game w/o the stripes helping out.

I dont knwo about the rest of you young men , but i really do respect the way Windal Wallace calls a basketball game
#4
I think in the 14th Dexter Campbell is about as unbiased as one can be. He has a lot of experience too....he's been around in the business for 25 years.
#5
im goin with the ref from south floyd.....he stays on sidelines most of the time and cheers for them so he dont getta make many calls
#6
Are we talking Mr. Johnson?
#7
I wish that he was still a Ref (retired about a year ago) but personally I liked Dale Conn. Thought that he did a really good job :thumb:

That's so funny. I think he is about as crooked official as I have ever seen. He calls every game with a chip on his shoulder.

Ok everyone, are you ready for a good laugh,,,,,, MIKE HALL..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH that is the most unprofessional ref yet. there, everyone can start their day with a good laugh....... hahahahahhhahhaahhaah, im still laughing.
#10
I havent met a Ref that I like at all.
#11
I would have to say the 2 best refs in the 15th and my personal favorites are:

Jimmy Blankenship and Mike Walker.
These are the 2 most consitent refs in the region an d when you get them you know exactley what you are getting. These are the refs that usually represent the 15th at state the past few years. And they have the highest rankings year in year out.

Others that recieve high rankings and deserve mentioning are:
Johhny Webb
Mike Hall
Todd Duff (Not one of my personal favorites)
Roger Fairchild
#12
I agree that Roger Fairchild does a nice job. I also agree that Mike Hall is very unprofessional. I hate to see that out of officials...
#13
My personal favorite was Dale Conn... I am sorry he didn't get the assigning sec. job for the 15th. I like Jerry Hurley too, but Dale had been there longer and should have gotten the nod.... hated to see him go! Liked his wife & daughter too!(Nice people)
Conn, Hurley, and Jimmy Blankenship always made for a good game! Mike Walker's fine too... but no one can replace Dale Conn.
#14
Todd Duff- absolutely not.
I watched as he called a middle school game a few years back. His mother sat with the parents of one team. Everytime he called a foul he would turn around and wink at the fans his mother was sitting with. Very unprofessional!!!!! Those calls may have been legit- but the way he went about it didn't look legit at all.

Chad Allen and Tommy Hutton are two of the best. Walker can't take a punch. Balnkenship is the best in the 15th.:big grin:

That is too funny...

First off, his name is Wendell Wallen, not Windal Wallace.
He has been calling since I was in grade school about 25 years ago.

Now, in the mountains, Chad Allen and Jimmy Blankenship are two of the best.

Two up and comers in the 15th are Charlie Collins and Scott Shannon. They do a good job calling a game.

But no one was ever as good as Ancie Casey, Keith Hall, or Teddy Hall back in the day.

And Jerry Hurley wasn't too bad either.
#18
oh that is the best one yet...... i totally understand why someone would attack him, in street cloths he looks like a pablo escobar................... i look for another scene like what happend in prestonsburg, he needs to read the book or quit...........

#22

#23
Wendell Wallen has made so many bad calls against us and some other guy that is always with him dosnt call very good towards us either

yes mr johnson was a very good ref.....but i think the board banned him from all floyd county games:boo:
#25
I would rather coach with Roger Fairchild calling as anyone. He calls down the middle, will admit that he may miss a call now and then, is respectful and will let a coach vent his feelings.
#26
Jonathan Bogart
#27
Jerry Hurley are you kidding me!!!!!
#28
"MY ADIDAS" Wrote:I bet you thought that he was hot too.:BigLaugh:

No. I thought we were discussing basketball referees, their abilities, and our opinions of them. Did you think your comment was humorous? Since you are bringing it up, maybe you think "he's hot". A thought like that would have been the very last thing I would have ever thought about. I have always liked Dale Conn, his wife, and his daughter. They were never anything but gracious and nice around me.
#29
no ref really comes to mind as a favorite
#30
L Parker he does a good a job
