Micah Jones scored 32 points Wednesday morning to lead Green County to a 60-44 victory over Lexington Christian Academy in the opening game of the All "A" Classic girls' basketball tournament at Frankfort Convention Center.
Jones, a 5-foot-8 senior guard who has signed with Western Kentucky University, made nine of 17 shots from field, was 2-for-3 from three-point range and cashed in 12 of 18 free-throw attempts to help the Lady Dragons (16-5) advance to Friday's second round.
Green County, representing the 5th Region in the small-school state tournament, led 29-23 at halftime but opened things up in the second half by outscoring LCA 16-7 in the third period. The Lady Dragons committed only eight turnovers in the game, compared to 22 by LCA.
Katelin Bundy, a 5-foot-7 sophomore, topped 11th Region representative Lexington Christian (9-14) with 24 points.
