Patrick Towles, Quarterback, Highlands
#1
After being the backup on the freshman team four years ago, Towles became one of the nation’s elite signal callers.

The 6-foot-5, 232-pound Towles finished his career with a 37-1 mark and helped the Bluebirds to three consecutive state titles.

“He’s just amazing,” coach Dale Mueller said. “Words can’t describe Patrick; he has just done so well. He started as a backup quarterback and now he’s the best player in the state. You just can’t describe what he’s done during his career.”

Towles, who has committed to play at Kentucky, threw for 3,820 yards and 42 touchdowns and ran for 589 yards and 15 TDs as a senior. He also threw just one interception, completing 171 of 279 passes.

Towles finished with 7,429 yards (30th on the state list) and 73 TDs. He was named Mr. Football by The Associated Press and also won the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year Award and the Paul Hornung Award.

Towles picked UK last spring over offers from Louisville, Illinois, Cincinnati and Vanderbilt. He is the grandson of Jim Bunning, the former Kentucky senator and Hall of Fame pitcher

I really would like to see the UK program do a turn around from last year, I think this will be a good start for UK next year.
