Scott County 99- Harlan 29

In a game that really wasn't good for anyone Scott County defeated Harlan 99-29. No player for Scott County played more than 16 minutes.

Per 1 Per 2 Per 3 Per 4 Total
Harlan Dragons 7 6 7 9 29
Scott County Cardinals 25 20 28 26 99

So how did a game like this get scheduled in the first place?

They played home and home. Scott Co made a swing through southeast Ky last year. They played Bell County and Harlan on back to back nights. This year both Bell Co and Harlan played at Scott Co. Bell Co also played in the Toyota Classic at Scott Co a year or two ago.

Scott County is really starting to click right now. They beat Bryan Station by 37 last night. Now that Bryan Station has Beckham eligible, they are a pretty darn good team. Station played Madison Central, a top 5 team in the state, down to the wire at Central.

I saw Scott County play earlier this year. They have a pretty good bunch this year.

70 points WOW.

Oh wow. Scott Co. shows no mercy to anyone?

Bad scheduling move on the part of Harlan.
Pretty ignorant

so it's ignorant or stupid for trying to make your team better and prepare them for Districts and Region? I think that's why Harlan scheduled them

Getting beat by 70 points could take the heart out of a team.

If you look at the box score, I think they did. 14 different kids scored and no player played more than 16 minutes. I would call that mercy.

SK, I understand what you are saying, but I'm sorry, when you get beat by 70 points and the other team is putting in their freshman, and you still can't stop them, then there is nothing that comes out of that in which you can build from. I'd like to agree, but you just don't get better when you have zero chance of competing. Having my baseball players face Aroldis Chapman will NOT make them better hitters, no way!

I'm sure Harlan's Coach thinks there's a little something there that they can build from

I would guess the contract for this game was signed before the current Harlan coach was there. SC played at Harlan last year. I would guess that this was the second game on that agreement.

He bet he does. He probably feels like he's looking up from ground level at the Empire State Building.

One reason this game was scheduled, I'm guessing, is Hicks is from Harlan County, I think his first coaching stint was at Evarts.

do you honestly believe that?
They achieved nothing by getting routed by 70 points.
It didnt make them better nor will it help them.

STUPID move by Harlans coach.

Why would any small school schedule an opponent like that? To make them BETTER! Which Harlan's old coach from last year thought that and Harlan had to play Scott County again this year because of a 2-year contract and when you have those you have no choose but to play them

If there was an old contract that had to be honored, then oh well. But, I think that games like this are as much a waste for the dominate team as the one getting torched. What did Scott Co get from that game other than a W? That's why I hate the seeding of district tournaments. KCC should not be playing Jenkins or Cordia during the regular season. It's a waste of four games every season for all three teams. To get better you have to play competition, but for it to be competition you have to be able to compete with them. Teams need to be challenged but not stomped.

I agree with your post, with the exception of tournament seeding. I am all for seeding the tournaments. I would even be for seeding the Sweet 16, much like the NCAA tournament.
