Final.

Notes/Observations from the game:
Atmosphere for the game was awesome. Both sides were into it, felt like the rivalry game.
First half was a disaster for East Ridge, offense and defense were both undisciplined. In the second half East Ridge came out with a fire and took the momentum of the game by storm.
Last minute of the game was epic. Both sides made some mistakes, but ultimately East Ridge's Johnny Miller outplayed Dalton Richardson for Valley in the final seconds. Richardson let the ball slip through his hands along with the chance to tie the game on a three.
Ray Kasongo (ER): Didn't have his head on his shoulders in the first half, didn't play well at all. Second half was a different story. He made some terrible decisions, commited a couple of questionable fouls, but he hustled like I haven't seen him hustle before. He had a few key offensive rebounds that were huge for the Warriors.
Johnny Miller (ER): The kid is clutch. Hits a three with around 38 seconds to go to give ER a comfortable five point lead. He made some huge plays down the stretch and in the fourth quarter. Miller is extremely poised and carries the maturity of a player well beyond his age.
Tony Wolter (ER): Controlled the game and played his heart out. Hit some big free throws down the stretch that helped seal the game for the Warriors.
Hayden Mullins (ER): His numbers won't show the impact he had on this game. His rebounds, tip-outs, creating extra possesions for the Warriors was huge. He played a excellent game overall.
Dalton Richardson (SV): Extremely polished offensive player. Hit big shot after big shot. Like Miller, very mature and poised for a young man of his age.

Very good game. Valley was on the verge of blowing E.R. out in the first half, but the Warriors regrouped in the 2nd half and pulled it out. This is the first of many close games in the coming years.

Wooooohooooooooooo!! Awesome boys...wish I could've been at this one with ya..
I've heard alot of talk about Belter being so good, but what I seen of him earlier this year, he didn't look great at all. How'd he do?

Very fun game to watch. Belter had a very good game. 22 points and 7 rebounds. If he had Ray's athleticism, he would be unbelievable. Belter has had games this year of 23 points, 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocks, and 33 points. He is much improved over last season and just needs to be more consistent and continue to get stronger.

Cheers of the night: East Ridge fans cheered when Ray absolutely swatted Belter's shot out of the air into the stands. Valley fans cheered when Belter blocked Miller under the goal after getting an offensive rebound.
Oh, and ray's fast break dunk, that was pretty cool too.

As was stated before. East Ridge did not play well the first half with only 17 points at half time. Third quarter different story. Hayden Mullins had key defensive moves by knocking the ball away from the offense when they were trying to get it into the lane. Tony Wolter played extremely hard defensively as well and only had 1 foul. Kasongo played well in the 2nd half. Johnny Miller was Mr. Clutch draining the 3 ball when it counted most. Hagy, Thacker, Fields and Coleman came off the bench and added some help tonite. Valley played hard as well .. Well fought game and I think they left it all out there on the court.

East Ridge (8-4) protects home court with big win over Shelby Valley. Valley (7-5) will face South Floyd (2-9) in the All A.

I am note sure games will be close in the up coming years.....

^^I think they will. The competitive rivalry is back...at least for the next 3 or 4 years.

I love how 42 and 12 for er doesnt get no credit from what i heard 12 has held everyone he has guarded under 10 this year.42 stepped up tonight and 12 does not come off the bench he picked his team up after the half and was a big leader

To me, Cody Belter had a very good game. I thought he played hard, wanted the ball and controlled the middle and showed me he is the best big man in the 15th region. As far as the games being close in the future, unless the younger kids get a chance to develop they won't get get much better. You can spin this however you want to but to me I liked the line up right at the end of the first half, lots of potential with those young kids, but they are missing a lot of experience. Anyway congratulations to ER on the victory, Kasonga is defintely a freakish athlete and I liked the SV sweatshirt he wore to the game.

I disagree with Dalton Richardson, he is alright but he can't handle pressure and he had a chance to win the game but got nervous and fumbled the ball! Not going to say he is bad but I just don't think he is! Good game for both teams tho!

I didn't mention every player, because I thought that might have been annoying. But Belter also came to play. He had a really nice post game actually. I saw a baby hook and I believe an up-and-under move as well.
Overall, it was just a fantastic game and a joy to watch.

They did better than hold their own, they have a very nice squad and they will get better as they get older. As for E.R. they had a very good 2nd half, not so good in the 1st......... I will ignore your statement, as its quite obvious to everyone on here that you are trying to keep something going. Either you are a child, or you have the mentality of one, in either case, nice job by both squads.

Next time they play remind me and I'll tell the other team to take it easy he is just a freshman. Freshman sophomore junior senior, they are all playing together makes no difference?

Actually, Valley was down by 3, so he had a chance to tie the game - and besides, the game was not lost at the end of the 4th quarter, it was lost in the 3rd if you ask me. Richardson and Miller are both excellent freshmen players, but anyone who watched the game must admit that Miller was calmer, steadier, and more poised. Love the Wildcats, but I guess we will have to try it again at home...congrats Warriors, keep your heads up Wildcats.
PS No one has commented on Valley's decision to let Cody Bentley bring the ball up the court...thoughts on that?

Dalton is a heck of a player! Yes, he's young and yes he will make mistakes. Who doesn't? I would put him on any team I would have!

Was when the the players from both teams had prayer at the center circle after such a hard fought battle with each other.

Are you saying that Valley will dominate???? Did you look at the JV game the other tonight, ER beat Valley's JV by 18...and it could of been worse than that...so what does Valley have at the JV level that will go to the varsity and compete in the 15 region...

Yes he is but he should be maybe a.......Sophomore, Junior...quit holding kids back just for athletics...by the time there are Seniors they should be in College classes and athletics are not all that its about...they will just be artists like their parents...Drawing a Check...makes me sick!!!!
