How much longer til UK's offense gels
#1
So far this season, disjointed would be the best adjective to
use in describing UK's offense. Sometimes it seems our best play
is a near turnover because when we recover it it often leads
to a lob dunk. It's really strange to see a team with such
tremendous individual ability, and of such high ranking as
recruits, be almost a singleminded entity on DEFENSE,
yet continue to struggle getting together on the other end.
When they do, it's hard to see ANYONE staying within
double figures.

I wouldn't even say we are "struggling" on offense...just getting used to each other like every new team, with good days and bad days. If we were struggling, we wouldn't have beaten #12 Kansas, #4 UNC, and #4 UofL..

I think after a few SEC games, we'll be working pretty well together and have most of the kinks out.

Typical freshamn and underclassed teams do this. But good teams find ways to make it work and UK has done that thus far. You also have to look at the scrappy style they play. Thats going to cause some turnovers and stuff.

Offense wins games, defense wins championships.

Everything will start clicking by the time March rolls around.

The offense will be fine. Last year, it was Mid-February before everything was clicking on all cylinders.

That's football. IN football you CAN defend your way to a title.
In basketball, BASKETBALL wins championships. And that means
teams have to be good on both ends of the floor. You don't
have to be a high octane, 100 points a game offense, but
you have to be able to run a cohesive offense, and to
have reliable ways to score.

BUT, if there was ever going to be a team that just stifled
the other teams out, and slopped their way thru to a
championship on the offenseive end, I guess this one
would be it. Just seems like with the fantastic talent
on this squad, they should be putting it together sooner,
especially since their fnatastic defense is allowing them
some breathing room to relieve pressure on the O end.

True, but that team was a lot more limited in personnel and ability.
Lagging on development didn't seem so problematic to them. This
team has ALL the pieces, and SHOULD be coming together
quicker. It's obvious they CAN work together and make things
happen, all you have to do is watch the defensive end.
