Jan 23-28 in the Louisville Invitational Tournament Louisville Invitational Tournament

(From Lewis Meadows): One of the biggest events of January concerning girls’ basketball is the Louisville Invitational Tournament. It is one of the oldest regular season events in the state, starting right after Kentucky girls’ basketball was revised in 1975. The only event that may challenge the LIT for longevity is the Dixie Heights Invitational, held the first week of season every year.

The LIT, as it has for the past several years, will be held at Bellarmine University again this year.

The dates for the LIT are Jan. 24, 25, 27, and 28 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday). As usual with the LIT, there are no games on Thursday.

In the spring, the LIT invites four state teams to precipitate. Those state teams this year are Madison Central from Region 11, Marion County from Region 5, Perry Central from Region 14, and South Oldham from Region 8.

Also, a total of 12 teams from Regions 6 & 7 (Louisville area) will take place. The twelve teams with the highest Litkenhous computer ratings, as published by the Louisville Courier Journal early in January, will determine who those 12 Louisville area teams will be.

The Litratings will also be used to place all 16 teams into the brackets.

Manual is defending LIT champions, defeating Mercy in the championship game last year.

Any win over an out of state team is a good one. Congrats to a very good Manual team!
