Nothing better for me than to see the Golden Domers lose

Just saw some flashes of this game eating out with some friends, but it looked to me like Florida State did a really good job of establishing the run late in the game. Good, hard fought game by both teams.

I really thought for the most part our defense played very, very well.
Even better news that our stud linebacker Manti Te'o is coming back for his senior year, he's a beast.
Really wished Michael Floyd would have shown more toughness at the end of the game.
But oh well, it was a fun game.
Congrats to Florida St.

Well I'm glad to see Notre Dame haters.. To have haters you must have gave them a reason.
But we have a Ohio State fan-- very over rated looked like poop this year.
And a few UK fans--- no reason to dog a football team.
But anyways at least with Weis we would score 30 and lose.. Didn't like the O play calling in this game..

I wonder if ESPN's love affair withND will ever end.
There an independent team that doesnt have the ball sack to play in a conference, and want all the attention, yet every single year there overrated as hell.
The glory days are over ND, might as well hang it up, you all suck.

Definately a stupid post. There not in a conference so they can play a tougher schedule than just about everybody every single year (see next years schedule). So when the OSU's and the Florida's of the world are playing teams like valdosta St. rite into conference play ND will usually start the season with Michigan and then Mich.ST. Is it the 12 titles you can't handle? Them setting the standard for excellence?? Keeping strict academic standards? Or would you like them better if they cheated like shit and barely got smacked on the hand?? I guess you would have to call them Ohio St. then. That was an absolute farce what the NCAA let them get away with. We all know very few athletes have longevity in the pro's, would you rather have a legit degrewe from ND or a basketweeving degree from football state U. Quit eating the pills Johnny, they fry your brain.:hilarious:

ESPN likes Notre Dame because they are a classy program. And still put a lot of players into the NFL. It's jut like UK basketball.. It's a respect thing.
But anyways ESPN really don't live Notre Dame because there are a lot of ex Michigan and USC guys on ESPN that hate Notre Dame just like a lot of ex North Carolina and Duke players working on tv hate UK.
Saying Notre Dame sucks is funny..
Notre Dame would beat Kentucky by 20+..

Notre Dame does suck.
You cant honestly say theyve had a good team in the last 10 years.
What exactly have they one?
And when the hell did i bring up shitty UK football?
Thats not saying much seeing as to how just about everybody in the country could beat UK by 20+.
Get over ND, they suck.

lol, Notre Dame doesn't suck. They had a good season, some tough losses, but they don't suck by any means. ESPN doesn't have a love affair with ND, I can't believe anyone would even say that. The only reasons they're even mentioned outside of whatever game they're playing in is because for one, they have a pretty high profile coach that the media follows especially close since his incident with his QB earlier this season. Two, their QB situation...it's crazy that they can even win 8 games with how they use their QB's, but they have..all three of them are good, but their play is bi-polar, never know when they'll bring their A-game and it's an interesting topic to cover. And three, they have top players, some of the best in the country. Those players always get covered.
ND's history just adds to it, just how it is. ND was much better than their record shows this year, that's easy to see. They've deserved the coverage they've gotten, which isn't even all that much.
Would've much rather had seen them win though...I can't stand FSU. If anyone sucks it's them, especially because ALL we heard in the pre-season is how they're a top 5 team and going to the National Championship, hahaha.

Tough Schedule ever year???? :hilarious: What makes it tough? The fact they have two teams with the name Michigan in it? Sorry but playing Air Force and Navy and Purdue every year does not make your schedule tough. They would have gotten a tougher schedule playing in the SEC. UK's schedule was harder than this cakewalk.
South Florida
Michigan
Michigan State
Pittsburg
Pudue
Air Force
USC
Wake Forest
Navy
Maryland
Boston College
Stanford
Playing BIG names doesnt mean your playing good teams.
The only team on this schedule even note worthy is Stanford.
The rest of these team would all get demolished by the better teams in the country.
I didnt see your ignorant ass post when i first looked at this thread but just because your names Notre Dame doesnt mean your the best damn football team in the country. And what are you rambling on about academics. I dont give a flying shit about how good those kids grades are. If i wanted to talk about grades id bring up Vandy, hell, there just as good as ND in football anyways.
When they actually get into a conference and play some tough games and get some actual rivals they play year in and year out, they might get some respect, but right now that dousche bag program sucks and ND fans are just too stupid to admit it.
Your the one that needs to lay off the hash pipe.
Once again, call me when they win something that matters, you know, a national title.

The FSU team that was picked top 5 in the preseason, played in 2.5 games this season. Too many injuries to name, but the Noles were starting 4 true freshmen on the OL last night. At one point, 7 true freshmen were on the field against ND. Manuel was injured in the Oklahoma game and left before the game was tied. He did not play in the next two losses at Clemson and at Wake. Freshman Star WR Rashad Greene missed 4 games with a sprained ankle. JR WR Willie Haulstead missed the entire season with severe concussion issues.
However, the FSU D was spectacular all season. Even with two interior linemen going down with devastating injuries in McDaniel and McCray. Ranking in the top 6-7 nationally in most statistical categories. Most of the FSU guys have been looking to 2012 when Manuel is a senior and these two recruiting classes have had some time to mature. The Defense will return 8 starters and perhaps the best Defensive Line in America. The offense will return 9 of the 11 that started in the bowl game. Losing a projected 1st-round OT and under-achieving WR Bert Reed.
What would benefit FSU is to hire an actual OC and allow Jimbo the time to focus on the entire team without losing his ability to adequately do his job as OC. The recruiting class as of now is loaded defensively with the top 2 DE's and the potential to land a stud DT. If all that can hold up and the Noles stay injury free, 2012 should be a very good year. But I will not predict anything crazy, because of recent history.
GO NOLES!

^ I def agree with you about Florida State, PT. I watched Florida State play several times this season and I was very impressed with their defense. Injuries killed their season but IMO they will be among the favorites to contend for a national championship next season.
01-01-2012, 11:09 PM
RIUTG, you have just about completely ruined your credibility with me when it comes to your football knowledge, lol. How in the world could you say USC isn't good this year? Or Michigan?! How can you say they don't have "actual rivals they play year in, year out" when they've had great rivalries with Stanford, USC, Michigan, Navy for years and years...So they don't play tough games because they're not in a conference? They play top teams every year...and the cupcakes they do play usually aren't anywhere near the low skill level as every other top team plays 3 or 4 times a season.
Hell, alot of the reason they won't go to a conference is history. You can't blame them for seeking as much money as possible..those exact 2 reasons is why you don' see Alabama trying to join the Pac-12.
Hating a team is fine, but you are letting your hate for them make you look stupid when you say the only notable team on the schedule is a cakewalk. Not every team can be in the damn SEC. Of course they would've gotten a tougher schedule..try to tell us something we don't know! The SEC has the best teams in the country! Playing Bama and LSU year in year out would outweigh in other combination of teams in the country. But like I said, not every team can be in the freakin' SEC, nor risk screwing themselves out of alot of money and possibly quite a few bowl spots by playing 2 or more SEC teams.
Notre Dame makes plenty of money, they have huge fanbase, they play a good schedule that allows them any bowl they want as long as they play as good as they need to, and joining any conference would take away from the history of the program.
Trying to make an argument that they're horrible, they play no one, and saying something as stupid as "get actual rivals they play year in year out" makes you look like you don't know a thing about how college football works...just like every other SEC fan that does nothing but scream "YOU SUCK CUZ YOUR NOT IN THE SEC" when nearly any non-SEC gets success or is the topic.
And how in the hell do you get that you can talk shit and say that dumb stuff about Notre Dame anyway? You are a Kentucky fan and you are saying things like "Once again, call me when they win something that matters, you know, a national title."?! Seriously?! I figured you'd be to busy bitching about firing Joker and focusing on how to end the other 25-year losing streak to actually hate on Notre Dame of all teams...
How about you call someone, anyone when your team can place higher than 3rd in their division in their conference? Go ahead and keep screaming "SEC!" at everyone...that's kind of like the support pussies that deploy with us and do nothing, and when they're asked who they're with they say "infantry". Good lord...

Notre Dame is overrated and have been the past few years. It is okay. ESPN and the media love them. But let's face it, they still get preferential treatment based on their past. They haven't been relevant in a long time.
This year they went 8-5. here was their schedule. Their opponents were not that great.
South Florida (5-7) = loss
Michigan (10-2) = loss. Better than they had been, but still not typical UM.
Michigan State (10-3) = win. Good win.
Pitt (6-6) = win.
Purdue (7-6) = win
Air Force (7-6) = win
USC (10-2) = loss. USC was not a typical USC team.
Navy (5-7) = win
Wake Forrest (6-7) = win
Maryland (2-10) = win
Boston College (4-8) = win
Stanford (11-1) = loss
Florida State (9-4) = loss

If Notre Dame was in the S.E.C. they would be very Kentucky like, meaning they would not fair very well.

Amun-Ra, you are freaking crazy. You say Notre Dame gets preferential treatment based on their past, but you say that USC and Michigan aren't their typical selves?!?! Michigan hasn't been the Michigan of old for 10 years! Hell, this is the most like the past they've been in those 10 years! And for USC, they were a damn good team this year and had the best team and season they've had in a couple years.
How about you people that can't get past your bias compare the opponents records of Notre Damn and an SEC team, since you like to compare the incomparable? ND plays more teams in the hunt for a bowl than any SEC team does. Don't give me that SEC horseshit, because it doesn't matter one bit. Those other teams make up for it by being bowl contenders. They beat 9 damn teams with 6 or more wins...that speaks for itself!
And NewarkCatholicFan, ND would be better than Kentucky if they were in the SEC, by ALOT. If not for any other reason it'd be for the history of the program drawing much, much better recruits than half of the SEC.
You all are hypocrites. You never miss a chance to bring up the history of UK, ever, but you easily dismiss the history of Notre Dame.
I don't even like Notre Dame...but I can see past my dislike towards a team and state the obvious.

I do not like Notre Dame, and my hatred for them started with Kelly Tripucka and Basketball, but the love affair with ND and the media is legitimate for football. I hate them, but I respect what their football program does. To be without a conference and play a schedule like they do is a tremendous testament to their program. And for that, I do think they get rewarded. Their schedule is not the best every year, but over the course of years, they have to have the best schedule strength of any team in football over the last 25 years. To play teams like Michigan, Michigan St. USC every year is quite an accomplishment in itself. Now, with that being said, those teams have not always been at the top of the football scene, but those are programs that will forever be in the hunt of their conference. For whatever reason though, the ability to bring every blue chipper in is no longer happening for the Golden Domers, It is similar to UK between the Pitino and Calipari years, when UK was not as cool anymore. It is going to take a Marquee name to coach there to get them back prominence again, just as it took UK. Without Calipari's name, UK would still be in the same category as they were with Tubby, good but not great.
Had Urban Meyer showed up in South Bend, we would have to contend with Notre Dame playing in a BCS championship game every year. It would be "cool" to play for ND with Urban Meyer, and he would be doing what Cal is doing, by getting the top recruiting class year over year.

Exactly. I don't mind that ESPN likes to talk about a program like Notre Dame. They do the same thing with Bama, Auburn, Michigan, USC, Florida, Ohio State..all of the historic programs, no matter their talent level, they get talked about. And get talked about even more than that when they have something about them to debate or are winning. Just the way it is.

Vundy, reread this post because its exactly what i would have posted.
ND is overrated and sucks.
USC doesnt count, there on probation remember?
As for your UK comments. I am in no way shape or form a UK football fan. They lost my money when they brought the Joke in. I havent defended UK football, said they were good, or any of the above. Ask Paintsvilletigerfan on my opinions of UK football.
I dont understand how or even why you take up for teams like ND.
IMO there a cancer to college football. They clearly think there the best football program to ever live and they are the best there ever will be, but they havent won shit in my lifetime.
I made the SEC comments because its true. You cant deny that teams like USC, ND, and as you call it, those Mich teams, cant compete with the top tier of SEC football. And as i said before, let me know when ND wins something. They cant win a conference title because they dont have the ball sack to play in one. They cant win a bcs bowl game becausse they cant make one, and they cant win a national title, what ND describes as the only thing that matters, because they cant get the talent.
I speak only the truth.
Honestly, i dont have a favorite college football team, just a non biased spectator that calls it like i see it. If it was the other way around and these teams were winning titles, id say the SEC sucks, but unfortunately for ND, Mich, USC, Big 12 and Big 10 fans its not happening and IMO wont happen any time soon.

vundy33 Wrote:Exactly.
And this is one of the reasons i hate college football, especially the rankings on espn.
EVERY single year, you can bet your ass, Ohio State will be ranked. This year, that held true and it will for years to come. Did they deserve it? IMHO, NO!, will they get it? every time.
ESPN gets to caught up in the history of teams instead of seeing the now.
When they do see the now, they talk about teams like Boise State which drives me even more crazy.
There are a lot of problems with college football. Too many to mention on here, but as long as college football is this way, you will have the overrated teams dominating polls and rankings.
