The Mountains were well represented this year. Congrats to all those "good ole boys" who got the honor.

I'm sure these are all good football player's but no Jonathan Jackson, JD Harmon both are 1st team talent and neither are honorable mention. It's a joke.
#4
Not one kid from Hazard unless I overlooked it.

Not a single player from Lexington. Seriously? While all the players listed are probably deserving you can't tell me that guys like Kyle Bolin, Adam Bush, and Bubba Johnson did not deserve a spot on any of the teams. I guess since this wasn't the best year for Lexington public football, with only Lafayette having success, it probably hurt but it does not mean we do not have kids that can play!

Not having Randy Maynard at least honorable mention? That's a travesty. Not a single player from a class A final four team? Pikeville got screwed on this one.
#8
That's bull. Highlands and Trinity both should have had more players on there.
#9
No Hazard kids on there, what a shame...
#10
how in the world did Rob Lewis, Dustin Powell, and Alan Williams from SW not make it?
#11
Congrats to Austin Sheehan who set a national record this year for yards per catch. Over 1000 yards on less than 30 catches. Well deserved young man. Congrats to the Bruns Bros as well. Is that the 1st time twin brothers have been 1st team all state selections the same year?
#12
Adam Bush
74 catches, 1160 yards, 13 TDs

Missed this entire list...how????
#13
Congratulations to all who are named here. It takes a lot of work.
#14
xtrapoint Wrote:how in the world did Rob Lewis, Dustin Powell, and Alan Williams from SW not make it?

I'm wondering the same thing. Powell leads all of Class 5A in rushing, Williams can play any position on the field, and Lewis' defensive presence is felt every snap. :pondering:
#15
Congrats to Codi Diamond, "Big" Mike Smith and Brandon Ball for making the team. Quite an honor and great to see some "Filthy Animals" get some ink. Great job boys!
#16
With the defensive masterpiece that Hazard performed in the finals Combs and Blanton should have been at least honorable mentions. And yes, Randy Maynard should have made honorable mention also. He was Pikeville football this past season and that's not to discount the rest of the team, they were good but no one player, especially in the mountains, had the impact on a team's performance that he did. How do you leave those player's out?

15 members voting on a all state team. No way that they can see all the teams and players. It should be more people voting on it.

And that is why the Courier-Journal All-State team (coaches selection) has long been the more repsected of the two all-state listings.

With that being said, congrats to all that made the team, especially Keegan Fields (1st team OL) and Josh Dixon (2nd team DB) of Belfry.

Not complaining but I feel Dixon could have just as easily been a 1st team selection as anybody in the state.
#19
Great Job Matt Robinson. Very well deserving. Best Football Player to ever play at Perry Central and probably this area in a long long time.

Also would like to say that Zach Blanton played like a damn MACHINE the last couple games of the year when I watched him. He took over games. Very impressed with him. Should of made something. Great football player period.
#20
Congrats to all who made it & to those who should have.
#21
AP version is a joke. I'm sure they are all good players but there are good players and then there are great players. Too many great players not on this list. A travesty.
#22
Went to the Lex Cath / Highlands game. Bolin is a terrific QB and there is no way he shouldn't have at least been honorable mention. He kept Lex Cath in the game against the 2nd best team in the state and gave the Bluebird defense fits. He is right up there with Mr. Wright from Trinity. I'm not a Lex Cath fan or a Highlands fan. Just stating my opinion. He is D1.

I agree. It's like they just pulled the names out of a hat and they must have done it before the state title games. Instead of 15 there should be 150 to make it a respectable poll.
#24
2nd Team
WR - Cody Withrow, Ashland Blazer
WR - Kiante Northington, Lou. Butler
WR - Scott Daniel, Scott Co.

Does anyone know what kind of #s these young men put up this season? I was looking at the overall football stat leaders for the season on KHSAA.org and they are not listed under the top 15 receivers in the state. Just curious as to the type of seasons they had.
#25
When is the Courier-Journal All-State team announced?
#26
I was disapointed that Mayfield's Jonathan Jackson was not even nominated. In fact as it turns out. None of the kids from the Jackson Purchase region were nominated by the local media
#27
Wondering where Ryan Timmons is on this list from Franklin County. The kid had 2600 yards of offense and close to 40 TD's. He is a D1 talent as a junior but not honorable mention on this list? doesnt make sense to me
#28
Kyle Fuller from Holy Cross?
#29
No kids from Hazard, Mayfield, or Pikeville!!!! but Williamsburg gets 3 kids on honarable mention???

Nothing against those kids but someone should have made it from each of those 3 teams.

I have watched football improve in the Mts for the last 10 years I beleive the quality of teams in Eastern Ky, are as good as any part of the state, Cory Davenport can match any running back I have seen. Dalton Sizemore and that gang of Freshmen from Williamsburg are destine for prime time. Hazard well coached field full of talent. I look forward to Eastern Kentucky Football
