You will see a more disciplined, well condidtioned, and fundamentally sound tiger team this year. with the schedule we have I could see us easily winning 6-8 games. Only tie will tell this could be a very interesting offseason.

I would really like to see the Tiger's excell this season. It's time to get back to the old tradition rich Paintsville.

4-6 games next year. With that schedule they should win 7 to 8 games but they won't.

You sure have a lot of confidence , don't you
#6
They will probably win 7, losing all three district games.

The Tigers return to Memorial Field with a Coach that knows how to win and create the same with his players. He will have a large group of Juniors with a very talented group of State runners up in middle school on their heels. The schedule will be most conducive to the rebuilding process. Look for the Tigers to go above 500 and maybe better. More importantly they will play like Tigers and respect will return. The Blue will be worn with pride once again. That will of cource take some time.

I was told that they attitudes have already changed in the weight room! The boys are pumped about hitting the weights and pumped about coach! The motivation is already starting to show!

I have heard that Runyon was in as Head Coach and that Chirico would be joining the staff. Is this accurate? If so, then congrats. I suspect the improvements will be immediate and startling to those who aren't familiar with the talent level Paintsville has in their student athletes. Welcome back... (STILL hate to see Chirico leave the sidelines of the Blackcats, but its a better situation for him no question).

What is the schedule for next year?

You realize they only won a few games. I think Chirco is a great coach and BMR will always be a legend but to change that quick, I dont know. They will see a big turn around, I just dont know if it will be that soon.

Good Luck, I know they got some dandy players from the grade school coming up.

Apple Bowl in 2012?

See this past season's Prestonsburg team for what happens when a team plays without emotion, enthusiasm, and intensity. It appears this has been Paintsville's football downfall for some time now. (Nothing personal against Kinner...).

I don't know BMR personally, but have seen that he does have the knack for getting the most out of his players. Was there enought talent on last year's team to win more games than they did? I suspect yes.

The question then becomes, how much of a difference will it make if the coach can motivate the players to play consistently at a high level? If BMR can motivate the players PHS currently has (and I have no reason to think he can't...especially if he brings Chirico on board), yes, I think Paintsville will shock people next year. This is Class A football we are talking about. Realistically, a good Class A team only needs 2-3 really excellent players, surrounded by a group of highly motivated, enthusiastic, aggressive teammates. Based on what I know of the caliber of athletes Paintsville has and the type of coach BMR is, I think it will be a BIG turnaround next year. I think he will get more quality kids playing, get more out of them, and win more games immediately. I think Allen Central has beaten Paintsville for the last time...

Keep in mind I'm a Prestonsburg Blackcat. I have no vested interest in the Paintsville program other than that I want to see ALL EKY teams do well. When ALL the EKY programs are strong, it benefits us ALL.

Good luck next year. Lots of people OUTSIDE of Paintsville are rooting for you guys. Still hate losing Chirico though...

Why? Never mind I already have the answer. Besides I don't want the folks to dig all of the historical posts up again, Basketball is here and baseball is just around the corner.

I am sure everyone at the ville appreciates your post 86. I to believe that Joe C coming to P-ville is a great asset and I am sure the Cats would miss him. With a lot of hard work perhaps the old rivalry a lot of us remember between P-ville and P-burg can be again.

If these two coach's can't turn Paintsville football around in the next 3 to 4 years I don't know what could be done to save it. I can remember Paintsville beating Harlan in '79 for the region title at Harlan in the worst rain storm ever. A QB keeper up the middle,I think on 3rd or 4th and goal, won the game for them late in the 4th quarter. Thats when I first respected Paintsville football cause that was one of the best teams,if not the best team, ever at Harlan High School. I was 11 at the time.

My dad was the RB and one of the MLB's on that Paintsville team.

As for the Tigers in 2012, I think we will all see a completely different team than what we have seen the past few years.

It would be awesome to see Paintsville build up again and be a really good team. It was always a thrill to watch the rivalry between them and Johnson Central.
#24
anybody know if paintsville hired chirco fo sure
#25
Yes Chirico has been introduced to the players as an assistant.
#26
any news like how many is coming out for weight lifting or if any transfers are coming in
#27
do you know what dates spring practice
#28
Congrats to Joe Chirico, and congrats to Paintsville High School for making an excellent hire.

Let me publically say to Joe: "Thank You" for your time and help at Prestonsburg. He contributed mightily to the success of the past 3-4 years of the Blackcats, and he will be missed.

I have said before: Joe may be one of the best coaches in any sport at any level I have ever had the pleasure to watch work. This is a homecoming of sorts for him, and I am happy for him personally.

Welcome back, Tigers. You will improve almost immediately and in a couple of years...look out 1A.
