Bowling Green 55 Anderson County 3
#1
Final, Bowling green wins by the largest margin ever.
#2
No way in heck Anderson shouldve even been on the same field with them.
#3
The state finals in 5A took place...... well crap, I don't know that they ever took place! 55, 69, 21, 50, 51, 29, 33, 42, 52, that's the margins of Bowling Green vs. 5A competition. 29 points is the closest anyone came in the playoffs.
#4
They didnt even get to play the best team on the east part of the bracket, not to say it wouldve been different but hey its the playoffs, some times the best teams get beat and sometimes they dont.
#5
Unfortunately the best team in 5A didn't get to play in 5A this year. Lucky BG.

Congrats Bowling Green!!!

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Scooter Hollis passed for 205 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 103 yards and two scores as the Bowling Green High School football team dominated Anderson County 55-3 in Saturday's Russell Athletic Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl Class 5-A championship game.

A crowd of 8,623 at Houchens Industries/L.T. Smith Stadium saw the Purples (15-0) clinch their second state championship, having won the Class 3-A title in 1995.

K.J. Cofer added three scores for Bowling Green, rushing for TDs of 1 and 70 yards and also catching a 73-yard TD pass.

Anderson County, playing in its first state final, finished 12-3.

Congratulations to Bowling Green.

This team finished strong. Tonight was impressive but last weeks big win over JH shows how strong this team was.

This team had both both power and speed, along with great coaching.

Wow, what a game.

Where's bubba and his excuse?

BOWLING GREEN — Purples reign.
Bowling Green completed an undefeated season with a dominating performance in the Russell Athletic Class 5A finals Saturday night in front of 8,623 fans in WKU's L.T. Smith Stadium.

The Purples pounded Anderson County 55-3 to win their first state title since 1995, and erase Coach Kevin Wallace's painful memories of runner-up finishes in 2005, '06 and '07.
Bowling Green's 52-point margin of victory was a record for the state finals.
"It sure feels good to win that last game," Wallace said.

"This is such a great group of kids, 30 very mature seniors, that went through such heartbreak last year. We lost three games, and all were in terrible fashion.

"But they came back this year with a real commitment and we got over the hump."
For Anderson County, it was a bruising end to an otherwise joyous season in which it reached the finals for the first time in school history.

The Bearcats had the bad luck to run into perhaps Bowling Green's best team ever, a talented collection of fast athletes and big, strong linemen.

"They're outstanding," Anderson County Coach Mark Peach said. "We knew that going in. They're big, fast and extremely well-coached and deep on both sides of the ball. That's a nice combination."

Bowling Green, which never left its hometown in its five-game romp through the playoffs, put Anderson County away early. It built a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, and stretched it to 34-3 by halftime.
The Purples started the second half with the same fervor. They scored on their first two plays from scrimmage, with Scooter Hollis going 75 yards for a touchdown, and K.J. Cofer following with a 70-yard scoring burst.

That gave Bowling Green a 48-3 lead and started the mercy-rule running clock midway through the third quarter.
Hollis capped a sensational senior year with a sensational title game. He completed eight of nine passes for 205 yards and two TDs (all in the first half). He ran eight times for 103 yards and two scores.

"This is great for our program, our fans, but most of all for our seniors," Hollis said. "We've been talking about this since the seventh grade. It's great to be able to finally get the state title."
Cofer ran for 71 yards and two TDs, and had a 73-yard TD catch. Nacarius Fant had four catches for 93 yards.

The Purples had 548 yards to just 120 for Anderson County. Michael Bailey led the Bowling Green defense.

Bearcats quarterback Seth Carmichael and running back/receiver Ethan Kelly, who made big plays all season, couldn't find room to breathe against the Purples.
Carmichael was 15 of 35 passing for 127 yards. Kelly was limited to 23 yards rushing and receiving.

"I wish we could've gone out different, but we still made history tonight, being the first Anderson County team to make the championship game," Carmichael said. "This was big for our program."
Peach agreed, noting this was the first Anderson County team to play for a state title since the Bearcats, led by Jimmy Dan Conner, were state basketball runners-up in 1971.
"Sometimes your program's gotta take steps along the way," Peach said, and noted that Hazard took its lumps in the state finals before winning a title this weekend.

"You hope you can keep coming back and eventually get an opportunity and convert on it."

Well this was pretty much expected! Biggest blowout of the weekend!! I think there is a team sittin at home this weekend that could have put up more than a FG against BG! But, fields get muddy without it raining all the time, right?!

Saddest excuse I've ever heard. You lose by almost 50 because the field was muddy? Give me a break guy. Your team obviously no mental toughness, and of you would have watched film on us, you'd have known our field is always muddy and would have prepared better. Anderson was a good team and won 4 games to make it in the playoffs. You can't say they didn't deserve it, when the other two teams (Franklin and Harlan) were eliminated by teams AC beat. And dont even get me started in Southwestern, yall played with little class and even one of your coaches reflected that. Yeah Anderson got beat big, but so would have Harlan, Sw, or Franklin. Bowling Green is a phenomenal team. Based on the games I saw today, I think they are on, or past Highlands level. Now your team had a great season, respect to SW, but AC won and deserved to be here. Coach Peach and his staff handled their season with class, pride, and the wins reflected. If a team can't play when the field is a little muddy, you certainly have no chance against Bowling Green.

WOW,I knew BG would win ,but i thought AC would put up a fight.BG has got my vote for second best team in KY overall behind Trinity.

Hey packdaddy348, quit liking every single post that is against Anderson. You are Steven Perkins and you are an assistant coach for Franklin county.. You have no one fooled. You talked bad about Anderson all year along with flyerfan1980 or better known as Doug Murphy until you got absolutely crushed by Connor. I mean you would really think you would be mature enough as both an adult and a high school coach to give these kids some credit. That's pretty pathetic I must say. Jealousy is your alls obvious weakness and you should look at controlling that. Great job for both teams for making it that far.. As for the coaches that talk down at opposing players..that's pretty sad and overall very unprofessional. Maybe coaching isn't what your meant to do..because if so, you very well could have been playing longer than week 12.

Identity release!!! Now that's not very nice!!!!

Hmmm idk if I wanna pick a side but I don't agree that just because Anderson beat teams that beat the two teams that are obviously better than Anderson doesn't necessarily make Anderson a better team..with that being said big ups for making a phenomenal run but those like bubba who down played Franklin county all year and decided to come outta the woodwork when they lost to Conner seem to forget that Franklin blew out Anderson too by 32. It's irrelevant now, but just expressing an annoyance

Don't we have playoffs for this reason? The best teams face off?
#25
No shocker!!

You know, we could all keep coming up with reasons why teams could beat each other and teams are better than the other, but the records speak for themselves and all we can do is get ready for next year. I don't think anyone has anything to be proud of, but Bowling green. Calling other people out is not the right thing to be doing and everyone is able to voice their opinon.

Well, I guess Anderson Co can be happy for setting the record for the worst State Final loss since the switch to the new 6 class system!! Heck, it may be the worst loss in the history of State Final games!

You are the moron, I did think Frankfort had a good team and still do, I think Anderson had a good team that is why they made it as far as they did. I do not think that Frankfort would have beaten Bowling Green this year and I NEVER SAID THEY WOULD! Get off your high horse and realize I call them the way I see them and quit thinking everyone is attacking your team. It happened, it is over, get over it. MORON!!!!
