National Championship opinions
#1
Me and group of friends were talking about this earlier after I read Rick Reilly's article on the BCS. My question to you is who do you think deserves to play in the national title game between the following teams:

- Alabama: only loss was to #1 team in nation, cant win their conference and gave up 21 points to 1AA Georgia Southern at home.
- Oklahoma State: lost to unranked Iowa State amid school tragedy
- Stanford: lost to very fast Oregon team, but also did not win their division
- Virginia Tech: can avenge their only loss of the season against Clemson
- Boise State: non AQ with a loss at home, but did go into Atlanta and beat Georgia, who's playing for conference title.
- Houston: non AQ, undefeated, but played much weaker competition compared to the teams above.

Each team has it's pros and cons towards its argument. Try to leave your team and conference fan-dome out of this. For example, saying Virginia Tech should go because the ACC is awesome, does not count.

This.....and their loss was in overtime...

All the teams above can make a case...this is why I do not like the BCS...

You can make a case for all of them but Houston. Houston is a good football team and very explosive, but they don't have the quality wins like the other teams do to help make their case, they have some good ones, but TCU, SMU, and Tulsa do not compare to a full SEC/PAC-12/Big 12 slate by any mean. Okie St has themselves to blame for getting beat by Iowa State so late in the season. Boise has themselves to blame for losing to TCU and looking less than impressive against a sub par Wyoming team. Oregon has already lost to LSU once, by a much larger margin than Alabama did. Stanford lost to Oregon, and had to take USC to overtime to beat them (something Oregon did not do). Hell, if Virginia Tech can beat collapse mode Clemson, they might have the best shot since that loss came much earlier in the season than the other contenders. I might sound a bit homerish here but I still believe Alabama and LSU are the 2 best teams in the country and the re-match will be nothing short of toss-up. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

I look at it and Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Virginia Tech, and Houston have legit arguments for making their case in playing for the national title. Boise State's loss at home against TCU did them in. They all also have legit arguments against them for playing in the national championship. Something could hurt Alabama and Stanford this week is Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, and Houston can still win their conference, and OK State can do it against a top 10 team in Oklahoma.

Now IMO, the 2 best teams should play each other in the National Championship, and right now, that's LSU and Bama. However, if OKlahoma State wins and wins big, then I would say Oklahoma State. Not because they won their conference, but because they would have more valuable wins than Alabama.

Alabama's only big wins were Arkansas and Penn State. Oklahoma State has Kansas State, Baylor, Missouri, Texas, and if they win Oklahoma.

Until their is a playoff, the best two teams are Bama and the Tigers

I think Alabama should get to play in the title game. They beat Penn State at Happy Valley. Plus the won all their games with the exception of the LSU game that they lost in OT.
#8
So what do you think happens if LSU loses the SEC title game? Do they still get a shot at the national title?
#9
^ Yes, LSU's point total will drop them to #2 in the BCS rankings. I don't see the human polls dropping them lower than 3, thus the computer points will keep them in the top two.

LSU vs. Bama if LSU wins, OK State wins
LSU vs. Bama if LSU loses
#11
Bama and LSU are by far head and shoulders better than everyone else..

I don't want to see the rematch, but LSU and Bama are clearly the two best teams, and the two best should be playing for the BCS championship.

Ok, let's take Houston and Virginia Tech out of the equation

Thankfully this is no longer an argument after today.

Agreed. It's all set now. I liked what OK State did tonight. But, IMO, they could not stand up to either Bama or LSU's defense.

I don't care what anybody says! I think that the National Championship should be between the Top 2 teams in the country and that is LSU and Alabama!!
