Hazard 24 - Mayfield 6 (KHSAA 1A State Championshp)
#91
Mayfield beat us by 3 my Jr year from playing in the state championship game so it sure is great to see Hazard knock them off! Congrats to the bulldogs! Congrats on another nice season to Mayfield. Mayfield might have some of the dullest uniforms I've ever seen in high school btw.

I think that hop24 needs to have him a nice hot plate of crow after saying that "mayfield already has the state championship as far as I'm concerned" and that this was apart of bad bracketing by khsaa, talk about eating your own words :gtfo:

Wow! I did not see this coming. i thought Mayfield's defense would be too much for Hazard. Good to see a mountain team pull a championship in. Glad Coach Harris got a State Title.

Who??? Hazard is coached by Mark Dixon.

Congrats to Hazard, I was one of the doubters, I made the trip down last year but didnt get to this year. Looks like I picked the wrong year. I am proud of the Bulldogs and staff. Great job. That was a great team you guys put a beating on.

I guess all that talk about the 1A moutain teams being "years away" from a champioonship when down the toilet.
With the way Hazard dominated this game its possible teams like Pikeville, Wburg, and Harlan could have gave Mayfield a run.

Congrats Hazard on the win.
Way to bring this one back east.
This has been a good year of football in Perry County.

True that, I would of loved to of seen a Hazard Perry game more this year then any other year. Two of the most talented teams to come out of either school.

I don't want to bring anything NEG to this tread bc its been very clean and respectful but NO WAY!!! Maybe Pikeville but Mayfield is still a VERY good football team... Hazard players stepped their games up against Mayfield. I don't know how to say this but Hazard didn't play with the fire against W'Burg and Harlan that they play with against Mayfield.

And against Mayfield I don't think Bj Combs, Jordan Olinger, Austin Johnson, or Zach Blanton came off the field.

Plz lets not start this... It's been all over Facebook.

Tonight has nothing to do with Perry Central. Not saying anything about Perry's team but this is Hazard's night.
Congrats Hazard!!!
i said last week at the hazard/pikeville game, if hazard win. they will win the title this year. HOW ABOUT THEM DAWGS!!!!!

mayfield have a great season, they have nothing to hang there heads about.

I don't know how you can say that. At Harlan the halftime score was 21-13. The Hazard kid's played their hearts out. They had too to win. Now I don't know if you are selling your team short or if you are simply taking a shot at the other teams in our region/district but,it really isn't needed. Hazard is the state champs for 2011 and everyone in the east respects that and kind of takes it to heart because they are a mountain team as the rest of us are and it makes us proud. So don't turn nasty on your mountain counterparts. Try to be gracious in victory. If the Dawg's want to repeat they have got a lot of work to do. They have more obstacles to overcome next year as opposed to this year and they will have to play hard every game to get it done.
Congrats to the Hazard Bulldogs from a Belfry Pirate fan !!!! :1:

Hazard played a lot of good teams this year on their way to becoming state champions.I watched every game this season and i can honestly say that Hazard got something different from every opponent, from the scrimmages to the actual games. Those teams helped Hazard achieve that state championship oppurtunity and winning it was due to the hard work put in to those games. So even though Hazard is Class A State Champs ,all the teams they played along the way are part of it.
No one give us a chance in this game. The only people who believed we could do it was the coaches and the players especially our seniors. We knew what heart these seniors had.Congrats to Mayfield on another good season. This comment is directed to ontopofthewest.Tell me,how does it feel to get in ass kicking contest with only one leg.

Ontopofthewest is probably going to be silent till after they win the state championship;next year.
I think that all the hype Mayfield got throughout last season and then the big game they had in the finals against Hazard kinda threw all of us in the east off just a bit. It made Mayfield look like they were light years ahead of all of us in the east. I think it even got Mayfield to feeling light years ahead of everyone else when really Hazard's 5 turnover's and a good game by Mayfield was all it was. I'm glad the Bulldog's didn't buy into it. Mayfield is a great team and so is Beechwood but they are not light years ahead of Hazard,Pikeville or other's in the east. Next year I am not gonna listen to all the hype on those Powerhouse teams in the west and I think this win by Hazard has taught our kid's that they are closer than they realized. I believe it will spark a fire under, not just Hazard and Pikeville, but other team's in the east. Thank's to the Hazard Bulldog's for showing the rest of the east what hard work and heart can bring us.Championships!
