#61
I am certainly glad to see a mountain team win the 1A state championship. Congratulations Hazard!
#62

#63
CONGRATULATIONS Hazard!!! Way to bring one back to the mountains boys!!!
#64
Congratulations Hazard. :Cheerlead

Hazard owned this state title game, Mr Jon Jackson didnt look too much like a d-1 player today.
So I guess it makes Class A look like this

1 Hazard

2 Mayfield
3 Beechwood
4 Pikeville
5 Fairview
#66
Hell yes.
#67
Much respect to Coach Dixon and his Bulldogs!
#68
Congrats to Mayfield on a good season and a very Classy game played by both teams today.. You could tell that both teams had respect for one another.

Can't put Mayfield above Pikeville IMO! Pikeville gave Hazard all they wanted at Hazard and Mayfield couldn't give them a game on a neutral field!

Congrats to Hazard! This game will be right up there with the all-time greats...

I only wish that Dipper, Vernon Cooper and Mayor Gorman could have been here to see this. Hmmm...maybe they were.

Looks like the "experts" were right about this one, it wasn't even close! lol

Congrats Hazard!!!

BJ Combs stood on Daniel Field last Friday after the Pikeville game, in the middle of a mob of Bulldog fans and announced that we were looking at the team that was going to bring the 1st state football title in school history back to Hazard High School. You know what? He was right.

Nice cheap shot at Jonathan, in his defense he was playing with a torn meniscus. The better team won, there is no doubt, but that is not fair to Jonathan, at 100% he is the best athlete on the field, he will be back. Congrats to Hazard in bringing their first championship home, enjoy it and we will see you next year.

Congrats Hazard.

Congrats to the Hazard Bulldogs. They have a great team. Their O-line was very good and the defensive line was just as good. In the trenches is where we won the game last year and that is were they won it this year.

Very proud of the Cardinals on a great season. Elijah you had a great season. Now Monday you get to work on next year.

No let down. Better team won. End of story.

Congrats to Mayfield on a great season!

Congrats Hazard
Nice win

Jackson , torn MCL, played with knee brace
Lot of pressure on QB, no running game, Jackson a step slow.
Game was closer than score
1st half about even
Mayfield in red zone a few times , 2 field goals
Hazard , 1 td called back but gift on field goal.
2nd half, Mayfield abandons running game
Nice punt by Hazard, pins Mayfield on 1
Mayfield QB throws it up for grabs, intercepted on 30
Short field for Hazard, they take advantage
Time running out, Mayfield is desperate and has to throw
Hazard picks one off , scores in the waning minutes.

Hazard did the job
Mayfield didnt

Hazard, class 1A state champs

No Cheap shot intended. Its just a fact most d-1 players when they face a good defense dont look so good. Look at the Tandy kid from Christian Co there last year or year before last against Highlands... Jackson is a top notch kid and showed his heart playing like he did but he needed to realize if possible could of messed his career up playing with that injury. I know its hard to keep a kid off the field especially state title game but he never really needed to be playing. Coaching staff should of sit him or rested him. I heard he took a good lick early in the game and hobbled off to the side line. Best regards to the youngman and his injury.

Not what I expected at all. Congratulations to Hazard, I have rooted for Hazard since they were district rivals with Raceland many years ago. Back then they always played good hard football, and I am glad they finally brought home the trophy after coming up short for so many years.

Just an observation but if the officials are going to call unsportsmanlike for celebrating in the endzone then shouldn't they call that during the regular season? I saw it all season long.
#85
Hazard wanted it. Believed it. Worked for it. Did it. Congratulations Bulldogs!

It looked like on second one when whitaker scored he was down on the goalline and the Hazard players were just congratulating one another. But I did see the spike on the first score.
