Not quite that cut and dried. I think Bowling Green is pretty good this year in 5A. Doesn't matter because Highlands rolls next weekend and BG likely does as well.

I think at this point id put Highlands and BG at a tie for second, and both miles behind Trinity.
Either way in the words of Wideleft, runninclock in this one.
HHS-56
FS-6
So much for that whole "lets get rid of the six classes thing". Hell every state game will be a blow out except maybe the 2A game.

Highlands
but Franklin-Simpson may not be the pushovers that many Highlands fans think. F-S is 13-1 with the only loss coming at Warren Central (11-2 who only lost to BG).
The Bluebirds better be ready for this game, but then when was the last time a Dale Mueller coached team was not ready to take home the big prize.
IMO, this year's "DRIVE FOR FIVE" championship game may be over early if the passing game is in high gear.

Highlands will score 70+ points in this one.
11-26-2011, 09:31 PM
This game will be an absolute blow out. Some competition would be nice for the finals. But the way it is now it doesn't look like it will happen in 4A or 6A. This will be a running clock by 3rd quarter IMO. Woohoo some state championship game.

Highlands will win by a lot, but I've got a feeling some of the Bluebird fans will remember who the Wickwares are after this game.
again, Highlands by a lot
again, Highlands by a lot

Same here toussaints. I think Highlands will name the score and early, but the Birds folks will know who the Wickware are.
BG and Highlands are just on another level this year and Trinity is just, well, I haven't found the words to describe them yet.

Wouldn't it be great if Highlands was still in 5A and you could see them face BG in the finals.

So what made them move down a class? You would think with all those wins and championship, they would stay or even move up and play the likes of Trinity, St. X or any of Louisville powerhouse. I don't know, can you explain?

Do you think the teams decide what class they're in? They don't have a say. The KHSAA determines the school classifications by enrollment. You can appeal if you don't like it, but rarely do any teams get moved up, and they never play below their enrollment figures.

Listen JACK, unlike your arrogant comments here. I merely ask a question that I don't know the answer to. I was not being a prick. I WAS ASKING A QUESTION.....and yes I have heard of schools ( petittioned? ) to be move a class because of geographic location.

A little swap with 4A & 5A and we will have two great games....

When they did the classifications PRIOR to the latest one, KHSAA allowed Highlands to move up from where they were classified in 3A to 5A and CovCath to move up from where they were classified in 4A, also to 5A for the exact reason (geography) you mentioned.
For whatever reason, the KHSAA, in their INFINATE wisdom, did not allow ANYONE to move for any reason under the most recent reclassification. This time, the Birds had enough students to be classified as the smallest 4A school, which at least kept them from dropping all of the way back to 3A.

Sir, thank you for your answer. Like I mentioned, I had no knowledge of this, but yet your comrade insist on being a jerk with every answer. Again thx for the clarification brother.

Although, when you think about it, a Highlands vs. Central 3A final would be a game worth paying for.:yeah:

Highlands last played Central in 2008 and beat them 28-0. Central is good, but it wouldn't be worth paying for this year.

Unlike the past 2 state championship games vs. John Hardin (35-7 Win) and Christian County (50-0 Win) which featured a combined total of 10 passes by Highlands' QB Towles, I can foresee Towles throwing more this year, leading to quicker scores.
According to the KHSAA web site, Franklin Simpson is primarily a run first team, which Highlands' Defense has absolutely stuffed the last 2 weeks vs. Covington and Lexington Catholic.
IMO that combination spells a big victory for the Birds, their 5th straight and 21st state title overall.

It didn't matter that KHSAA put Highlands in 4A instead of 3A. With no 3A schools anywhere close to Ft. Thomas (Mason, Fleming and Lewis Counties being the closest) Highlands would have been moved up to 4A anyway.
