Thanks for the correction

Congrats to Highlands and props to LC for a good game. Highlands has got to quit committing the personal fouls which is allowing teams to continue drives that would/should stall. It is frustrating to see those penalties - and the penalties occur in every game. Ugh!
Highlands vs Franklin-Simpson in the finals. I hope FS has no bear this year although the bear was out in either '75 or '76 I don't recall. Charlie88 played in that title game I'm pretty sure. Highlands won in a low scoring slugfest that year.

Lex. Cath. was better than I thought. They screwed up my 56-14 prediction. Oh well, I'll take it.

Congrats Highlands, and great season LC. Sounds like Catholic had a pretty good offensive game against the Birds powerful defense. They only managed to put up 10 against Boyle last week. Highlands special teams was definately the difference in this game (2 td's). Good luck next week in BG.

That would be 76. The 75 team wasn't very good. The score might have been 7-6 HHS over FS.

Never felt like LexCath was going to win. On to the finals.

Another blowout in the finals. HHS will win in the finals by at least 3 touchdowns. Said it before, might as well give them and Trinity the trophy. Will not even be a competitive game. Watched the second half online. Towels didn't even throw a pass (I don't believe) in the second half. He didn't need to. Waste of time even having the next game. Will be a true basketball score by Highlands. Will be a very boring state championship game guaranteed.

807 points and 115 touchdowns both Kentucky single season team records

HHS has defeated F-S twice in the finals:

1975 at WKU: score HHS 21-0
1982 at Cardinal Stadium: score HHS 6-0

But I'll be able to go, I've been unable to attend for the last 8 weeks.

So, I'll take it.

Go BLUEBIRDS!!!

This game wasn't over until the mid 4th qtr. Lex. Cath reminded me of Cov. Cath/ Highlands I back in Sept. Birds had trouble stopping their offense. Scary thing is they return practically everyone except Bush.
#18
Maybe true, but they couldn't stop HHS at all. I mean they ran the ball for positive yardage almost every time. Don't have a dog in the fight, just wanted to see a good game but unfortunately that didn't happen. HHS is just too powerful. Lex Cath did move the ball fairly well, however they just couldn't stop HHS when they really needed to.
#19
Apparently the Lex Cath defense gave Towles and the Bluebird coaches a classic case of "alligator arms". Doesn't matter with this offense anyway and I'm sure if push came to shove, Towles would've opened up if necessary. A win's a win.

sloppy game tonight, I do not think LC puts 21 on the board without the help of all those penaltie, but that is part of the game.
I thought it was a little bit of a boring game. HHS felt they had the game won in late 3rd quarter and was content to run the ball, run clock, keep a 2-3 TD spread, and keep LC offense off the field. Not complaining though, I'll take the win and happy to be moving on to state!

As a coach, I did see one thing that Lex. Cath. should have tried to exploit more of. The middle of the field was wide open at times. HHS down def. linemen were coming so hard at times, and the LB's were running straight off running to the flats. I felt that hitting the mid field with screens or shallow drag might have kept the drive alive. They did make a good effort one time, but it was tipped up and fell right in the defenders hands. Just an observation though. Still think it will be a complete blowout of a state championship game.

Towles took over the game like Guidugli did in the 2008 championship game. I mean, he TOOK OVER THE GAME. Congrats to Seidl too, co-mvp.

At 5-foot-7, 155 pounds, Colin Seidl is one of Highlands' smallest football players, but he was huge in the Bluebirds' 42-21 victory over host Lexington Catholic in the Class 4A semifinals Friday night.
Seidl returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to get Highlands off to a quick start.
Seidl used his speed to burn Lexington Catholic again early in the second half. After the Knights closed to within 21-14, Seidl returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a TD.
The Bluebirds stayed in control after that to get their 19th victory in a row and 24th consecutive playoff win. They also broke the single-season state scoring record with 807 points, eclipsing the 801 by Highlands' 1998 team.
The Bluebirds, four-time defending 5A champs, will play Franklin-Simpson in the 4A finals next weekend in Bowling Green.
Seidl's kickoff returns were the first for the Bluebirds this season. Lexington Catholic Coach Bill Letton thought they were the difference in the game.
"You take those two plays out, and we're either a possession short or a defensive stop short," Letton said. "But give them credit. They made the blocks and made the plays."
Bluebirds quarterback Patrick Towles, who has committed to Kentucky, had an efficient night. The 6-6, 230-pound senior passed for 108 yards and a TD (all in the first half), and ran 17 times for 120 yards and two TDs.
Lexington Catholic junior quarterback Kyle Bolin, who has committed to Louisville, had an impressive night. He threw for 223 yards and three TDs, and ran for 58 yards.
Adam Bush caught 11 passes for 98 yards and a TD.
Lexington Catholic played Highlands to a virtual standstill through the first 15 minutes.
After Seidl returned the opening kickoff for a score to give Highlands a 7-0 lead, the Knights moved the ball effectively until they got into the red zone.
Lexington Catholic stalled twice — at the Bluebirds' 19 and 22 — and had to settle for field-goal attempts. Jake Pumphrey missed both times.
The Knights' third possession was a charm, however, as Bolin threw a 21-yard TD strike to Adam Bush to tie it.
Highlands dominated the last eight minutes of the half, however, to take a 21-7 lead.
Towles was the play-maker with his legs and his arm.
He drove the Bluebirds 80 yards in seven plays, including a 30-yard pass to tight end David Christian.
Towles and Luke Turner hooked up on a 16-yard TD pass play to put Highlands ahead 14-7.
After the Bluebirds' defense forced a quick three-and-out, Towles went to work again. This time he moved his team 89 yards in seven plays for another score.
Towles had three carries for 45 yards in that drive, and a 20-yard pass to Christian.
Jake True got the TD on a 15-yard scamper through the left side of the Knights' defense.
Lexington Catholic scored on its first possession of the second half, with Bolin tossing a 5-yard TD pass to Noah Mitchell to cut the lead to 21-14. But Seidl quickly regained the momentum for Highlands with his second kickoff return.
"That was big," Towles said. "Lexington Catholic's crowd was getting back into it, but Colin quieted them really quick."
