Honakers...can anyone top them?

The QB from Corbin is better then the Honakers.

Not really sure if he better than the honakers,
but Q. Merchant was a good freshman. Not too shabby.

From what I saw, the Honakers only played in Mop up duty or special teams. The QB from Corbin STARTED and nearly led his team to the 2A state finals, and played in a region much much tougher then Pikevilles.

He didnt play for Pikeville. He played for Pike Central. For a freshman, he did well. One game he had 17 tackles. He was a freshman and solo tackled Doug Howard. Note: Im talking about Q.Merchant. But, i do agree with you on the corbin QB he did very well. I expect much from him.
The Honakers will be better players. Look at what a team pikeville had. I would love to have been mop up duty for them when i was a freshman. Some people are just gifted i guess.

The Honakers really impressed me when tehy had to step up after RObinsons injury
Also Devin Kohari i think it is did an exceptionally good job for Belfry past season
and i agree quirvon is a heck of a football player
I played on the same team as him when i was younger...

Devin Kohari is a sophomore, but no freshman topped the season QB Clint Cashen from Corbin had.

You played with Merchant too dirty? He is a good player right now. Cant wait to see him later in his career.

Pretty much all of the freshman and some sophmores played with Merchant in little league... me and him were great friends until he switched schools to virgie
02-14-2005, 12:02 PM
I played with merchant at virgie and he was a heck of a middle linebacker and has alot of heart.

No doubt it is the QB from Corbin, but everyone better keep a eye on the Honaker twins. They will be the biggest stars to wear the maroon and white in a long time by the time they are finsihed at Pikeville High.

You really think you want to put that kind of pressure on two sophomores?

I agree spxdad but I am just going from what I have heard from people that are on the coaching staff. I only saw the kids play twice but they defintely past the look test for freshman. I think they are going to be real good.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but if they are going to be that good I would have imagined they would have played a more significant role this season. JMO

That is true Happy. It is hard though for freshmen to step in a play a big role at schools like Pikeville, Belfry, Pburg, etc. I thought the kids should have played more this year also, though I admit I am not close to the program right now. I look for them to play a big role for the Panthers success for the next three seasons. I think in the twins case it is more "raw talent" than anything else. Last season was probably the first year that they had good coaching and they are still learning the game, but from I have heard the kids do have the potential to be real good.

Was last year their first year at Pikeville?

Yes they were at Betsy Layne I believe and I am not even sure if they played junior high football.

actually the honkers went to school at pikeville from 2-5 grades but they then switched to bestsy layne then back to pikeville

Yeap i played with him
He wasnt afarid of anyone...He could be a big impact player for the Hawks next season...and your right he is already a good player but after he gets more experience and practice in and hits the weights...he will be a hell of a player
Would love to have him at Pikeville but I dont see that happening!

Merchant was on my little league championship team haha.......but if i had to pick a honaker id go with Ted...hard hitter and surprisingly good D linemen
03-02-2005, 01:12 PM
Ted Honaker plays Dline? hmm I figured he would be like an outside linebacker as quick as he is.
03-02-2005, 01:18 PM
well i would say ted on D and tim on O
