He missed three wide open receivers on deep routes that would have been touchdowns. Id say it was nerves but the staff has alot to think about.

Also gotta say the Joker haters better hope smith sucks it up because he is Jokers type of quarterback, and was underrated out of high school, and went largely unrecruited. Joker saw something in him, and he just might turn into a superstar. I personally like him and think he has limitless potential.

^ I was listening on the radio just a few minutes ago and Joker said that Smith deserves to be the starter next week. I say if we're winning games, leave him in there!

He will be a star at Kentucky. He has Randy Sanders and Tee Martn to coach him into a great pocket Passer. He is accurate, He is the QB we need. Either way though this will breed competition and force newton to work harder. So if smith isn't the starter we this will have at least forced newton to get better.

WOW!! So happy to see the Cats finally beat an SEC foe!! Who is this Maxwell Smith guy?? There is no way that 283 passing yards can be a mistake!! I really hope that Joker stays with this guy at QB because we might actually have a chance to salvage the season and make a bowl game but, that is still really big stretch!!!

I said i wasnt watching another UK game until Newtons ass wasnt starting and so i got to watch one today.
Its sad to see Smith make Newton look so terrible.
Just goes to show this move should have been made before the season but Jokers boy got to start for as long as he could milk it.

However, with all that said, one win, against the worst team in the SEC shouldnt have Joker off the hot seat.
IMHO, he is not a good coach and wont be with time. He hasnt had his team prepared to play good football all season long and its showed, we just overpowered Ole Miss today.

Enjoy it, because realistically we shouldnt win another game with a progressing Georgia, an underrated Vandy and the team we will never beat no matter whos the coach or who we have...Tenn.

I have criticized him all year, but he deserves it today.

Congrats Joker Phillips and a job well done. Offense and defense came to play both did well.

UK should have beat this team anyway, BUT you have to play the game and you have to win the game, and that they did. Well done.

If these guys like Maxwell Smith and Coshik Williams can come in and provide this kind of offensive output, it makes me wonder if Joker is truly going with the best overall players or if he his favorites and sticks with them until they get injured?! Something has to be going on if your Freshman QB and 4th string RB can come in and score a combined 4 TDs against an SEC opponent. Where the starters struggle to do this against lesser opponents!!

Smith is obviously the starter now and possibly for the future if he can beat out Towles Big Grin

But it's hard to base anything on this game because Ole Miss is BY FAR the worst team in the SEC and one of the worst in D-1 football. We are too though. But it's nice to see us blow a team out, no matter how bad they are. Honestly though I still can't see us beating Vandy, Georgia, or Tennessee.
