Highlands quarterback and UK commit Patrick Towles, who was sidelined by a head injury in the first quarter of last weekâs game at Cincinnati Elder, will be back in the starting lineup for the regular-season finale against Ryle Friday night.
Bluebirds Coach Dale Mueller said Wednesday morning that while school policy prevents him from discussing Towlesâ injury, he said, âPat is going to start the game on Friday. He practiced yesterday and heâs looking great.â
Towles, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound senior who has led Highlands to state titles the last two years, has thrown for 2,428 yards and 30 touchdowns (with just one interception) this year. Heâs also run for 223 yards and 9 TDs.
In his career, Towles has passed for 6,037 yards and 61 TDs, and rushed for 1,352 yards and 32 TDs.
Highlands has a score to settle with Ryle, which upset the Bluebirds 28-26 in the regular-season finale last year. Thatâs been Highlandsâ only loss in its last 52 games over the last four years.

I'd say Highlands comes out firing on all cylinders on both sides of the ball tonight.
