If Boise St. Wins Out, Do they play for the national championship?
#1
With OU and Wisc losing today, and IF OK State loses to OU, i think Boise will move up to number 3 behind Bama/LSU.
Will they get jumped by someone else even if they win out or will they make it.
BTW, Boise barely beat Air Force today and that sure didnt help them in the computer rankings.

Personally, i think they should take the crystal ball to the Bama/LSU game and give it to the winner, but its not my call.

Who will be there in January with one of these two teams?

if there undefeated at the end of the season and the winner of LSU/Alabama stays undefeated until the season is over then yes they should play for the National Title, it's only fair. People whine and complain because of the conference that Bosie State is in and they don't have any powerhouses in that conference but Bosie State played Georgia this year and everyone said Georgia would beat them but what happened, Bosie State ran all over the bulldogs. Now I will admit I am a Bosie State Fan and they need to play better opponents and I think they started that this year by playing Georgia.

Boise also played Georgia last year or the year before last and was murdered but that didn't make Georgia championship worthy. Georgia isn't even any good this year.

Everyone knows my feelings on this one - HELL NO! They do not deserve to even be mentioned as a candidate to play in the BCS championship. Their resume is flawless, but gives them no right to even think they deserve to play for a title! I'm still going to see LSU and Alabama play in meaningful games that will give either team meaningful reasons for their lofty success. Same about OK State and others. But not BSU! BSU has a BS schedule that gives them no more reason to think they deserve a shot at the big boys for a title. I could care less about the argument that no one will play them! That's an argument for another thread, not for whether they deserve a shot at the title! Let them go win a Liberty Bowl and feel good about themselves, but shut them up for saying they "DESERVE" a shot!
#5
no lol. They'll take a 11-1 Alabama/LSU before Boise, and that if Stanford, Clemson, or maybe even Ok.State/Kansas St go lose.
#6
Let them play LSU or bama. Its not like they would eb in either game after the first quarter.
#7
I'm not counting Clemson out. They're looking good.
#8
Who is Boise St?
#9
I say HECK NO! But you know what? I would LOVE to see them play LSU or Bama in the National Championship in a huge game that is televised to everyone across the country! So everyone can see that they suck compared to the SEC. And the only reason they look so good is because their playing terrible competition.

Boise has played one ranked team. ONE. Every other team they play is awful.

Here is a little comparison of rankings of the teams Boise plays opposed to LSU and Bama.

Boise State oponents: LSU: Bama:

Georgia 22 Oregon 7 Kent State 112
Toledo 40 Northwestern St NR Penn St 21
Tulsa 48 Miss State 54 North Texas 97
Nevada 45 West Va. 25 Arkansas 8
Fresno St. 91 UK (lol) 84 Florida 36
Colorado St. 107 Florida 36 Vandy 56
Air Force 67 Tenn 47 Ole Miss 81
UNLV 114 Auburn 28 Tenn 47
TCU 32 Alabama 2 LSU 1
San Diego St 52 Western Ky 98 Miss St 54
Wyoming 92 Ole Miss 81 Georgia Southern NR
New Mex St 120 Arkansas 8 Auburn 28

Average Rank of opponents. I gave a rank of 120 to the not ranked D2 teams that LSU and Bama played so that I got a more accurate score.

Boise LSU Bama
69 49 55

* sorry for the way this post looks. For some reason I can not to get it to save the way I had it typed.

^^^ These rankings were an average of several rankings that include the Sagarin, Massey, Howell, etc.

But the way it is looking they might be the only un defeated team left

Boise State will need to stay unbeaten and will need all or 5 of the following 6 teams to lose:

Alabama
Clemson
Kansas State
LSU
Oklahoma State
Stanford

now Alabama & LSU play each other next week, and the winner still has to get through SEC play, including the title game. Whoever stays unbeaten will most likely make the national title game.

OK State & K-State play each other in 2 weeks, and the winner will have a tough end to the season, however, there is no Big 12 title game so if one of those 2 stay unbeaten, then they could knock out Boise.

Stanford still has Oregon, USC, and Notre Dame left and the PAC 12 title game. Clemson has Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and the ACC title game left. So all those teams still have some tough games left, but it all means nothing if Boise loses to TCU in 2 weeks

If Boise State is the only or second undefeated team left at the end of the season, I personally feel they should be given a shot. Whether win or lose, it would silence those who make this argument every year. You have to give credit to Boise State that regardless of their conference, they are in the top 10 every season.

If Boise State really wants to make a case for the BCS title game every year, they need tougher opponents on their schedule. But my guess would be that we wouldn't be discussing this if that happens...

So that would be like Alabama playing Appalachin State 10 teams, it's meaningless! BSU can have their perfect record, but the opposition is HORRIBLE!

^ good point

First of all, Georgia sucks and Mark Richt is on the hot seat because of how bad they suck.

and plus...
the national title game will be held on November 5th
LSU - Alabama will be playing for it.

The BCS is supposed to take the 2 best teams and pit them against each other.
I guess they decided to have it early this year.

In all honesty I think Oklahoma State is going to win out and play for the title.
#22
I started this thread before the new BCS rankings came out.
After seeing OK state, Clemson, and Stanford right there its going to be tough for Baby State to get in.
IMHO if OK State wins out, they should go.
If OK State loses and IF Clemson wins out, the should go.
If Ok state and clemson lose and If Standford wins out, they should go.
Any way you look at it, Boise plays noone that can keep them from getting jumped in the polls. Expect more whining this year.

The winner of the Bama/LSU game should definitely go.
If everybody at the end of the year has one loss exxcept for the winner of the LSU/Bama game, than i think we should have a rematch of the to for the national championship lol.

I would love to see Stanford in the BCS title game.
