MaxPreps: 7th grader Braxton Beverly is a rising legend in Kentucky

superfreak Wrote:You're obviously family and you really shouldn't get on here and carry on like this. I'ts easy to read between the lines all you have to do is look back at your post it's spelled out in black and white.:lmao:

Think what u want about who i am or who im not. I do know the kid if thats what your asking! Come now with all the negative remarks, he is only a 7th grade HOLDBACK ya know. Let him be what he is gonna be. I know this much, he has accomplished more at HIS age than anyone that i can remember in eky. Thats something to be excited about i would say. By the way, Justice is 5'8" tops. How good was he as a 7th grade holdback? Not comparing the 2, I just never heard about him till he was a sophomore. Only time will tell on how good Beverly will be. Im excited for him and you should be too.

I've never said one negative comment about the boy. I actually enjoyed watching him play, but i'm not going to speculate about how good he may become because he just may never play at the level you think he will. All im saying is people (family like you) get on here and turn people against him with stupid OJ Mayo comparisons. Personally I hope he does well, but im not about to even say he will play D1 or any college bb at this point. Give it a rest big guy.

Braxton and Cameron both play with us and both are and will be special players as long as they stay on the path they are on right now. Both boys have competed against the best in the nation and have proven they are up there. Now as I said they have to stay on their same work ethic in order to get where they want to be. Braxton is already making national attention by getting published in max preps, invites to national exposure camps, and showing up at state and national tournaments. Cameron is first off legit 6', and smooth as can be. Top teams in the nation have called wanting him to play with them when not with us. And 2 very important things that these 2 have going for them is the people and family around them and their attitude in general. Two great qualities. Not trying to start anything, just another view and outlook. Best of luck to both boys and the rest out there with a dream.

Cameron Justice. East Ridge. 8th grade(I don't know his age)

Oh okay. I know who he is. I just didn't know anyone was talking about him in this thread.

Two fine young players

But I've not seen Steve Nash or John Stockton throw it down too many times and they did pretty well for themselves.

Dang comparing Braxton B. to Steve Nash and John Stockton.

bdub Wrote:He is a great 7th grader and deserves all the praise that he is getting. I agree that he is not the player that OJ Mayo was in the 7th grade. Not because of SKILLS, but because of size. THATS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE, PERIOD!!! I watched OJ and his skills were no better that Beverlys. Believe me when I tell you that ive been around the college game as long as anyone. This kid is a D1 player and if he continues to grow he is a major D1 player.

Are you saying that he is as good as OJ Mayo? OMG

It's a stretch to call any 7 th grader a legend guys. What you are forgetting is that he got a chance to play for a team that needed him early verses some of the larger schools that won't play middle school kids up. I bet there are some really good playersnin Louisville well be seeing over the next few years. If you want to see the best middle school pg go to kba last weekend this month. His name is Timmy Taylor from Lincoln co. Hel be playing for the Kentucky thunder in that tourney. I'm not knocking Braxton. He's a great player just remember there are a lot of good players in middle school you haven't seen yet.

I seem to remember some of this same talk surrounding Chris Harrison's kid a few years ago. Anybody know where he is now?

Beverly can obviously play. But after watching the KY-IN tryouts this past weekend, one thing is painfully obvious...mountain players struggle against athleticism. Hobo McCoy, who we all agree was a great player/shooter in the 15th, couldn't get a shot off against more athletic kids. Let's hold off on the Mayo, Nash, and Stockton references.

Good luck to the kid in the future.

Well you also didnt know that Hobo was playing on a really bad ankle that he sprained two days before in open gym at Pikeville College. So you need to get your facts straight before you start running you mouth! :moon:

http://www.basketballspotlight.com search braxton beverly. just an idea of comparing him to where he is at among the nation. Notice as well, braxton is not a full grown 7th grader bullying kids, he is a skill player. If he was in a Lexington/Louisville school he wouldn't play due to rules and regulation, however freshman year he would be varsity.(this also however is going back to what I said previously. HE MUST AS ALL PLAYERS CONTINUE TO WORK AND STRIVE TO GET BETTER.) one man press breaker. Bottom line is though it don't matter what I think or anyone else on here thinks, there is just one person that will determine how far he goes and that is braxton himself. Best of luck to him and any player with a dream.
#45
Thats stupid. superfreak must not realize talent when he sees it. All i can say is braxton is an amzing player and that you would even try to put a 7th grader down.

OK...
Fact: He's going to Pikeville.
Fact: He's not a D1 player.
Fact: D1 players chew these guys up and spit them out.
Opinion: He wasn't good enough to make the KY-IN All Star team. Oh wait...that's a FACT cause he's not on it.

Chris's son's name is Chris Harrison-Docks(he took the hyphen from his step-dad, Ted Docks, who played for Morehead St) and his family live in Michigan and he attends Okemos High School. He was one of only two juniors in the state of Michigan to be named 1st team all-state this year. He as received multiple scholarship offers. Most notably from Butler, Virginia, San Diego State, Utah, and Providence. He is 6' and 155 lbs. Scouts say that if he bulks up to about 175, he'll be on of the more highly touted PGs in the class of 2012. I know all of this because he is my cousin.

He's not trying to put him down. Moreso, he's trying to protect the kid from these OJ Mayo comparisons. That will only hurt him inthe long run because there is no way he can live up to that.

The Beverly kid can flat out play and no doubt is the best 7th grader in East Kentucky but to say he is a rising legend is not accurate. If the kid can lead Perry County to mulitiple regional championships and a state title then he will be considered a legend but until that happens in no way should he be considered a legend.

king 360 what 13 year old u know whos 6'4 230 who as the athletism of carson ? when u stop snoozing talk to me

I have only had the pleasure of watching BB play once. It was in the AAU State, at the freshman level. Kings where playing the Lville Magic. BB looked like a 7th grader that game. I know the Magic has a roster of future D1 players. But they made him look average at best. Guess I need a larger sample size.
#57
I watched him play once or twice this summer!! He is good but I wouldn't say a legend!!

I've played against the kid..he's good. hold back or no hold back he has talent to get to the next level. With the whole convo about comparing him with O.J Mayo is a little far. He is only in the 8th grade..counting this year he has five until college. A lot of time for injuries and many more problems..but thats up to him.
#60
This kid can really play, but he has a long way to go to be mentioned in the same breath with some of the people some of you guys are mentioning him with?? All this legend talk is ridiculous!! He obviously will be a kid that puts up some big numbers over the next few years, but whether or not that will translate into any championships or any scholarship talk outside of NAIA or OVC is a long way from being determined? Ervin Stepp put up some unheard of numbers once upon a time also and I dont think that translated into any kind of a college playing career!
