Knox (40) Rockcastle (14) Final
#31
Congratulations, Knox Central!
#32
Wow. I'm surprised (not shocked) that Knox won, but the margin is shocking. Congrats to KC on a big win and keep your heads up RC, you guys have a very good football team. Most competitive 4A district in the state BY FAR.
#33
I have said for many weeks that KC is a darn good football team and now it is becoming very obvious to a lot of people! On the flip side, it does not appear that Rockcastle is very legit. Great job KC, that ole Harlan County boy (Scottie Russel) looking like he is going to be a fine football coach also. Hats off to you Panthers!
#34
^I wont say who, but someone asked me that exact same question after leaving Barbourville last night. (Did losing Rowe for the year kill their spirits?)

3 things:
1. No Clarke Rowe but still beat PerryCC and Russell County.
2. Ask anyone at that game if the Rockets played their best. They will say no. Knox Central was the better team for sure, but they are not 26 points better.
3. Define legit. Are they as good as the Black Bears? No. Are they good enough to win a playoff game and have a shot to win two? Yes. Would they be a Top 5 4A team with a healthy Clarke Rowe? Absolutely.

Wow Knox co where did that come from?Great win build off that one an ride it to the playoffs!!!
#37
I figured Knox would win this one, but not by this much.

Congrats Panthers!
#38
Saw this coming..Knox was way more physical than Rock
#39
Knox was not more physical or better as far as talent the Rock just got out coached plain and simple. And Knox fans you was respectful besides one who ever that guy in grey hoodie was that I had to quiet down he was an as@hole
#40
Great win KC!! I thought that KC dominated every part of the game.IMHO Everyone is raving about the offense(which was awsome), but what about coach Napier's game plan on defense. I thought that was also the big key to the win. It wasn't fumbles or int but just plain stuffed them. It seemed that they knew where the ball was going on every snap. The two fourth down stops where huge in the win. The Rock only scored on the varsity one time late. Keep your head up Rock. Hope to meet you in the playoffs.
Now for KC! Go get that first district Championship!

^Must be the guy in the grey hoodie?
I've had all the respect in the world for KC...all along. I have been friendly with some of the kids on the team as a matter of fact. I know a few parents on the team and actually went to root for Knox Central when they played against Rowan County last year in the playoffs. My good friend at work is a first cousin to Coach Russell and I think they both are great guys. But, when your fifteen year old kid is laying on the ground behind the bench while a doctor is checking him to see if his hip is out of joint and some horses hind end is heckling the team about thirty feet from where this is going on......you tend to lose respect for people. Not classy at all. Just back there to show exactly what he was. No sense in those people being over there near the team and especially if you've had a couple of cold ones. If not, he acted like he did. I still wish the best to Knox Central on the rest of the season. But that one guy....who was giving the team crap with them down big and my son laying on the ground getting medically checked. Wellll..........

Oh boy, it is hard to defend a team that loses by 26, but I will try.

Rock got out-coached in this game.

At the beginning of the season most knowledgeable Rock fans either picked Knox to win district or for it to be a very tough 3-way fight. I did both. I said Knox would win it but Rock and Russell County would be very good. Someone said earlier that this is the best 3-team race for district in 4A, and arguably in the state (Trinity, St. X and Manual would be tough if the Rocks weren't so dominant this year) Knox Central is the most talented team all-around in the district, especially with Clarke not playing but 5 games this year and Knox not being one of them.

I saw em both play and thought Knox would win...
and I'm being SERIOUS this time.

I wasn't going to call a 4 TD blowout like this...
but I was pretty confident when I picked knox.

I honestly think Rock came in and thought they were gonna cakewalk Knox.
After seeing both teams i really did come away with impression that Rock was much better.
This is why we cant compare games and all that stuff like so many people try to do, its all about how teams match up against one another.

You were right on this one. Knox seemed to have the better team on that night.

I have lived in this town long enough to learn two things. First, most of the folks here are the kid that would take the shirt off their back for you anytime. Second, there are a few that Id like to take my shirt and strangle. Anyone that would heckle a player or even a team forbeing injured or even just for lsoing is a classless jerk. We have a few of those. My apologies on their behalf.

On behalf of Panthers I am sorry you had to deal with somebody behind your team being a ahole ---for this I apologize and hope and pray your son makes full and speedy recovery...

My final thought on this game is that Knox did nothing this night that they have not been capable of all season. We used a great SR QB to throw to a multitude of weapons and did not have him handing the ball off to watch a fb crash into 9 in the box. This game had little to do with how Rock played and everything to do with how our coaches positioned our players to have success in this contest.

Best wishes to Rock going forward.

I look for Knox to make a Very deep run in the playoffs..
#51
^I do not say this because I am bitter but because it is the truth. Nobody from this district will get past Lex Cath or Highlands. They are match-up nightmares.

If somehow Lex Cath gets taken out of the picture, then a team from this district could make it to Highlands but no farther.

I'm not so sure about this. I honestly think that the Laker's have a chance (all be it a slim one) against LC. I agree, that the advantage would be heavily towards LC, but we have been able to put up some scrappy points, even when we weren't quite clicking on offense. Bolin threw 6 INTs during his first 8 games. For LC #12 Bouvier & #1 Bush make up 50% of thier pass offense. So, if the Laker's can limit their receptions, and contain Bolin, then they have a chance to pull the upset.

I think all three of our teams can give Boyle Co a good game. In fact, the Boyle game against our 3 seed may be one of the best Round 1 games in the playoffs.

If you was at the game you would know we got out coached. Rock was not prepared fro what knox was bringing. that falls back on the coaches. Rock has really good coaches. But Coach russlle and his staff just did there homework alot better and out coached us.
#55
Rock got out coached AND out played to a pretty good Knox team.

just goes to show you that rockcastle is not god. how does it feel to be beat by a team that even Perry Central beat who in most rock fans words can't play. Confusednicker: i guess no one can guarantee that rock is the best of the three after all.... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

i know what im about to say has nothing to do with this score but if this is the case then i guess that is what happened the night rock beat perry. they just got out coached. had nothing to do with rock being a better team then. thank god!

To former: Really? You honestly do not think Rock was outcoached? Really? There is a reason people poke fun of Rock fans for their unrealistic posts sometimes. That my friend is one of those posts. It is okay to have a love affair with Coach Parkey and to support a program but there is no reason to blow smoke up the tailpipe either, figuratively speaking.

You question my football IQ but you were the person bragging after the Danville game last season that Rock stopped the run so well, yet gave up 40 points and got passed all over.

I am not saying I am perfect or that I am the Bill Parcells of football, by no means am I good enough to be a successful coach in any level above pee-wee and youth league. However, reading the things you post, it is hard for you to question anyone's football IQ.

i wanna know how does that happen, i'll just assume that the coaches just coached and played for them at the same time.

common sense says they got outplayed and straight up got their ass's whooped, not just out coached

I see your point. Still, My emphasis here was on the scheme change made by our coaches to take advantage of strengths we could bring to this contest that we knew Rock would struggle to handle. That was a coaching move not a players choice.
