Knox (40) Rockcastle (14) Final
#1
The Panthers beat a great Rock team tonight. Left no doubt in the process. Coach Russell sprang a spread offense on them that they never were able to contain. Our defense stopped the run without leaving openings for the pass. Amazing win that will be tremendous momentum for next week.
#2
Great teams don't lose 40-14.
#3
great teams can lose by that much, just the other team was firing on all cylinders
#4
I've been following the Rock, stock and barrel. I was hoping they were for real. Call me a Rocket fan.
#5
I agree great teams dont lose 40-14 but I think what he was getting at was all the pre game post saying how great Rock was and that K-N-O-X couldnt even play with them Rock would win 30-0 and so on Rock didnt even have a chance from the time they kicked off till the end of the fourth Knox looked like the real deal tonight. way to go panthers one more win.:Clap::Clap: we :flush:

im a rocket fan too, hence the name, knox was just the better team tonight, im not saying it could have been different or anything, i hope knox plays like this in the playoffs, we need a few more good mountain teams representing..

if great teams dont lose by that much, ive seen trinity and st x battle it out and have scores like that, ive seen rock beat highlands in 2002 final score wasa 45-6, its all about the momentum

Rock is a great team. 7-0 with wins over PC and RC don't come easy. People thought since PCC beat us and Rock beat them it would be a Rock win. That logic failed for reasons I mentioned earlier - PCC played better against us by catching passes and converting 4th and 21s.

Tonight's game is proof that football is a coach's game. Great players aren't enough. Coach Russell and his staff broke out of all their tendencies by deploying an offense that is a perfect fit for our Sr QB and his talented corps of skill players. Brilliant strategy executed by excellent players gets you a signature win like this one.

Congrats to Knox!!! How many TD's did Canady have in the spread? That kid is a hell of an athlete.
#10
Looks like Parkey left his lucky rabbit's foot at the house.
It'll only take you so far.
#11
Congrats to Knox Central. The spread caught our coaches completely off guard. The boys heads were spinning because they had practiced a completely different defense. Some sorry tackling didn't help a thing either. I know a couple of our kids played their guts out. Some not so much. The game between Russell County and Knox Central will be interesting. I'm going to bed....Just got home from the hospital after an MRI on one of mine. 4:45am comes early...work tommorow.

Good win for KC. They have always spread Rock out and took advantage of mismatches in years past. Looks like they are in the drivers seat. Congrats to Coach R. and the crew. I figured KC's DL would give Rock trouble.

Papa I hope you youngin is ok.
#13
Congrats Knox
#14
Wow. I'm really shocked by this final score.
#15
So tell me if I have this correct.

Rockcastle County can finish no worse than 2nd place in the district if they beat Clay County.

If Russell County beats Knox Central then a 3-way tie occurs and it boils down to the RCHS's.

If Knox Central beats Russell County, they win district.

No matter what, Rockcastle County will not play Lex Cath or Boyle County in the first round of the playoffs.

If Russell Co wins Knox will be 3 seed and Russell 1 seed If Knox wins they get 1 seed and Russell 3 seed.....................................I think. Neither team wants to be a 3, on the road at Boyle.
#17
Congrats Knox County. I'm shocked by the score though
#18
^So for Rock the good news/bad news is:

Bad: Cannot win district
Good: Will play either Marion Co or Mercer Co and NOT Boyle or Lex Cath.

I'll take it!

2 TD's 2 pt conv. 4-rec 103 yards

I said earlier if you double or even triple team Canady--Knox has other weapons to use and Barger did a great job using them tonite--Evans-Mitchell -Gist-J. Evans-M.Barger ...Great job Panthers but your not finished............

Got to give all the credit to coach russlle and the rest of the knox cetral team. Rock was never in it. Rock looked like they were shocked to see the spread. or at least wasn't prepared for it. Parkey called a timeout when knox went to the 5 wide outs. Congrats to Knox on the win. time for the rockets get ready for the tigers.

Actually, the way I figured it last night. If Knox beats Russell Co, then the district goes Knox, Rock, Russell, Clay.

If Russell beats Knox, and Rock wins out the remainder of the season, then it should go: Rock, Russell, Knox, Clay. The PCC win is huge for Rock. If Rock looses the game w/ Mont Co, then Russell might slip by them to 1st.
#22
how much interesting can it get!
#23
Its obvious Rock wasnt ready to play last night.
Ive seen both teams and i know Knox isnt 26 points better than Rock.

Hopefully Rock can pull things together

My husband and I were "flying" back from Whitley County game, (trying to make sports over time) and saw lots of KC fans still tailgating in the parking lot. So we pulled in and asked a couple kids about the game. I was surprised, to be honest, that KC had won that big!! That's gotta be a huge boost to the program.

Congratulations Knox Central!!

I expected the Panthers to pull it together and become a tough team. They had been playing down in the early part of the season, and the games in TN gave them a chance to regroup. As far as Rock goes, it looks like KC got them in the hole early, and the rockets just didn't know how to respond. Both teams will become better because of this game.

That is good to know. I thought the same as well before last night, someone had told me that, now I am trusting you and my gut because I like this answer better. Big Grin

So no matter what, Rock will get a home playoff game if they win out, and it will be against Mercer Co or Marion Co.

Ah well...
I saw em both play and thought Knox would win...
and I'm being SERIOUS this time.

I wasn't going to call a 4 TD blowout like this...
but I was pretty confident when I picked knox.

i was wrong on both parts, i thought Rock would win and we got outsmarted, it surprised us when Knox came out to throw, our passing game was horrible also, I just wonder how much it hurt the players knowing Rowe was gone for year.
