I follow the Collins football program pretty closely and I'm amazed that there is little if any talk about the athlete Mr Brooks is. This young man has 123 tackles total, 65 solo, 58 assist, 18 loss, 1 sack, 1 Pick six, 4 fumbles caused, 3 fumbled recovered if I'm not mistaken two of the fumble recoveries were ran back for six and this is just his defensive stats. I know he has ran for numerous TD's, thrown one, caught a couple. Am I missing a reason his name isn't out there at all?

Probably because he doesn't have any rushing yards, and his QB rating isn't that good.:lmao:
In all reality, the guys on D just don't garner the attention that the offensive stars do.

Highlands Towles will be 4A POY!

Towels may get it because he signed with UK. However, there is no way he is as multi-dimensional and involved in as many facets of his teams output, both defensively and offensively, as Michael Brooks. This guy is the real deal and he just has that uncanny ability to always be around the football.

Is he playing anywhere after this year?

Sounds like a beast on D. Love to have him on our side. Like NCC41, I too am wondering where Mr. Brooks may be continuing his football career. Any offers?

I've seen him play and was wondering the same thing! He's easily one of the top players in the State. Should be on a lot more people's list if you ask me.

You've got to have a lot of preseason hype or an incredible senior year to garner Mr. Football recognition. Corey Robinson is the only Mr. Football I can remember who won it just because of his senior year and even that year it was debatable that it should have been him. Mr. Football isn't like the Heisman it's more about a body of work and less about a single outstanding season. That's why it's seniors only.

Lamar Dawson being the exception to the rule, right?

The kid has been playing this way since is soph. year..
The kid is a player and has not gotten that many looks. He has speed and determination. He is an all around player.

Guys you can forget it, he will NEVER be 4a player of the year, that award is going to Towels, QB at highlands who will also be Mr. Football in the state of kentucky...

WHY? Cause he signed with bit time D1 school Ky?
Who knows, they meet up in the Bowling green.

Not only is Towles much more likely to get 4A POY over Brooks, so is J. J. Jude, who is currently 4th all time on the list of Kentucky high school career rushers and has a shot of finishing the season at the top of the heap. By virtue of signing with UK and playing in one of Kentucky's major media markets, Towles has the edge but I doubt that anybody who will be voting will be unaware of Jude's record either. Brooks sounds like a fine player but awards like this often come down to location, location, location. You can't win a statewide award if a large number of voters have never heard of you.

Right, a Lamar Dawson type player is a rare occurrence in the bluegrass state.

I can tell you that the folks in Louisville and Lexington have heard of him.

Junior -Jeffrey Canady from Knox Central High School is the only player in 4A -in the TOP 10 in 3 of 4 Stats--REC-Rush-Scoring

The Candy Kid is also a Beast on Defense at 6'1 and 204 he makes some jaw jarring hits--not to mention he has 5 INT's----but just a Junior and location-location-location :redboxer:

No, not because he signed with a D-1 school, if you can call Kentucky a D-1 school now since Joker has taken over, but because he's the best football player on the best 4A Team and he only has to play half the game because they are way ahead at halftime.... I'm not discounting anything that Michael Brooks has done for Collins at all, but he will get some votes, but he will not win 4A player of the year...

MR. football is a 3 horse race IMO Towles, Jude, and Wales. And because of TEAM accomplishments, scholarship offers and LOCATION I would say even Jude would be a very long shot.
