There's a lot riding on this game....Knox Central can win for a sweep of the District, Russell Co. can win forcing a three way tie between Knox, Rock, and Russell. The looser will get Boyle Co in the first Round
Who wins and why?
Who wins and why?

I know very little of Russell except they have scored a boatload of points this year. We were blessed to escape a very physcial Rock game with no injuries so we should get to come in loaded. Its a long trip but that just means our boys get to miss some school which they will be heartbroken over... LOL.
Russel will struggle to game plan for this one. We pitched a spread against Rock that was unstoppable. We might do that again or we might line up and play power - that all depends on what coach thinks will work. That diversity of offense will be an advantage for us.
Should be a great game. Looking very forward to it!

Russell Co. has seen a bit of everything....Power games from Rock, Whitley, N. Laurel......Spread offense from Pulaski, S. Laurel. For the past several years we've played the likes of ACS & Lone Oak who run spread with misdirection. So, for a young team, these guys have seen several types of offense.
This is one of those games where both teams will probably need to bring out a few plays that haven't been seen yet. I don't think the game plan will be too hard to figure out...it's just going to come down to which team performs better on the field.
I can't wait!

Oh now come on LWC. You sure you can't get in touch with the Casting Crowns and let them know you have a big game to go to........I'm sure they would postpone the concert......:biglmao:

If Russell Co wins and there is a 3 way tie does that mean that Knox could finish 3rd?

Whoever looses will finish third. If Knox wins, then Russell becomes third because of the records. If Russell wins, then Knox becomes third because of the the tie breaker.

I'm still trying to figure out what happens if Russell wins resulting in a 3 way tie according to records. What are some thoughts on seeding scenarios? Can someone give an explanation of how exactly this is determined?
10-15-2011, 10:29 AM
Laker, RIUTG or someone feel free to clarify if I am wrong:
Things already determined.....
Rock beat Russell Co
Knox beat Rock
Clay is just awful
What happens if Knox beat Russell Co......
Knox wins district and plays Mercer Co at home
Rock finishes 2nd and plays Marion Co at home
Russell Co finishes 3rd and plays Boyle Co on the road in 1st round
What happens if Russell Co beats Knox....
Rock wins district and plays Mercer Co at home
Russell Co finishes 2nd and plays Marion Co (again) at home
Knox finishes 3rd and plays Boyle Co on the road in 1st round
Someone else can explain how the tiebreak works, but Rock wins it if they win the next two games

i think if Barger comes to play then KC Wins. when he is playing his best game and making good decisons the KC skill players always make big plays.
10-15-2011, 05:06 PM
Russell needs this win bad. To host a play-off game and to draw Marion out instead of Boyle. I think Russell will be hyped up this game because it will be senior night and two or three seniors will go out and give it all they got to win there last game at home. Knox will have to be ready for anything and everything this game, Russell countys offense has been down the past two or three games so i think they will have another big game. watch out KC

One of the keys to this game will be the play of the secondary for the Lakers. Blake Ellis, Barton Mann, Darryl Neely, and even Brandon Bunch have displayed the ability to break on the ball and make some big interceptions. The linebackers are also able to drop into coverage, Short, Whittle and Fletcher are skilled at getting to the ball and making a play. Knox has a bunch of playmakers on offense...they will make some plays but so will the Laker defenders! Lakers have only given up 7 points at home all year. If the Panthers triple that I still like the Lakers chances.

Your absolutely right about the Laker's defensive backs, but we haven't seen a receiver as skilled as Jeff Canady this season. I really think we need a defender shadowing him all night. If he's lined up in the slot or wide, we can run zone w/ a matchup on #4. This would open up the middle a bit, but if he's not in the backfield they're not nearly as likely to run.

Let's go Russell
10-15-2011, 10:29 PM
russell countys secondary is one of the top in the state i believe. they have 13 ints i think i last counted, they have dropped several more. if Knox comes out throwing i think they will be in trouble but if they run the ball as much as pervious teams have this year on russell i think it will be a closer ball game

I agree, unfortunately 2 of those ints were on 4th down attempts and costed us a combined 60-yards of field position. That is the kind of mistakes that we can't continue to make moving forward. In fact, there's just a handful of little things that are keeping us from being a MUCH better team.
The passing game needs to become as dangerous a weapon as the running game. Mann seems to be much more comfortable throwing the ball when rolling out. I'd love to see some spread offense with some rolling pocket for him. We could become a nightmare for other teams D.

Looks good to me.
Rocks win over PCC was huge.
Thats prolly gonna be 8 points.
Im gonna take RC in the upset in this one.
I thik RC pulls off the in by 3.

One thing is certain. We are going to run it on Russell. The other thing that is certain is we are going to pass it on Russell. The real question is how much of each and will it work? Beats me for sure.

Knox by 21, Knox front 4 are very good.. RUssell will struggle running against Knox Defensive front 4..

Knox by 2 TDS.

We didn't load the box up against Bryant from Whitley. So, Knox can put Canady in the backfield and our DBs will not be cheating up. We have a nice mix of power and speed up front and in our LBs. We can handle a combination. The biggest mistake we can make is concentrating on #4 too much. Devon Evans #7, and Gist #13 are very dangerous as well. I can see Knox winning, but I don't see 28 points.

Knox Central-32

Also very dangerous as the above mentioned #5 J. Barger--#34 J. Evans--#23 J.Mitchell--#2 M.Barger --most weapons your team has seen all year...one thing might hurt is every team you have played this year, minus Rockcastle--has a losing record--:rockon::rockon:
GOOD LUCK
Hopefully Refs. won't be a factor..

I agree, and the teams you've beat have significantly less wins thin those we have. So, you can't go by the records of our (yours or ours) opponents.
Quote:Hopefully Refs. won't be a factor..Absolutely, too big of a game to be impacted by the officiating.
Good Luck to the Panthers as well.
