Agreed. I did think Rowan would score more points but Ashland is the real deal.
Congrats Tomcats.

I was at the game and three comments on the game:
Ashland was the better team
Ashlan should've won by this much
Ashland shouldn't have won by this much tonight
It was 14-10 w/ a minute to go in the third. Rowan played w/ a lot of heart but fell apart at the end.
That said good win for the Tomcats and if they were to play again I would expect them to truly roll.

Wing is a real competitor!! Enjoyed watching him run his team. Great job Tomcats!! Loved the tandem of McLeod an watts! But I also love McLeod an Prichard!? I don't know but I'm thinking wishbone! Nah... just a thought, but with those three in the bone wow what trio! If it ain't broke don't fix it. Tomcats d shines once again. Corey gregg an Cade o'bryan D ends are absolutely tearing it up! so much depth at virtually every position. An cant say enough about hunter. Keep it rolling cats!!! Total team effort week in week out.

Wow. I'm shocked to see Rowan County only put 10 points up on the scoreboard.

No surprise here. Ashland is that good.

Ashland's defense is limiting the opposition to 12 points a game on average. The most any team has scored on them was by George Washington who put up 18. Seems like not many wanted to give GW credit but people who actually have to face them are glad to give them credit, I promise ya. If you take away the TD's scored on Ashland's JV players at the end of 3 of the games Ashland is only allowing 9 points a game. Rowan's big O line did give the Cats some problems but there were a lot of tackles for loss tonight by Ashland. Defense wins ballgames.
Tomcat line play on both sides of the ball has been very good too. We have lined up against some really big teams in Ironton, Russell and now Rowan and done great work in there and that's no exaggeration. If we can stay healthy and get Shannon Justice back in the lineup before the JC game it should be interesting.

To the Rowan fans who wondered why i didnt have them ranked.

that game was closer than the score showed it was close the whole game intill about 8 minutes in the 4th. Rowan fumble the ball on the 3 yard line on kickoff return.

At the half Ashland had a 14 to 3 lead and had a 143 to 30 yd advantage over Rowan on Offense. For the game Ashland had 300 rushing yds to Rowan's 83, passing- Ashland 159 to Rowan's 42. Rowan's 1000 yd rusher was held to only 16 yds. On the defensive side of the ball according to the paper 25% of all Rowan's plays wound up as lost yardage.
Adam Wing played with poise the whole game and made a lot of plays when he called his own number including the TD in the 3rd. Of the 429 to 125 yard difference Wing rushed for 51 and passed for 40 accounnting for 91. Ashland's D was the difference in this one. Everyone was saying it would come down to who could defend the other, right?

williamson had a high ankle sprang from last week and hurt it worst thats why he only had 16 yards on 3 carries. Also the star reciver didn't play b/c of a broken collerbone from week 3 he was leading the state in touchdowns, rec. and touchdowns.

I sure hope with all the Rowan injuries and turnovers they can win in the playoffs and play Ashland again and then they can show them.

That's exactly why Ashland will roll on, DEPTH at every position. You've got to be able to grap another horse out of the stable when one goes down that is just as atheltic.

Well, for what it's worth I never want to see any kid hurt. A lot of people were saying that Rowan would score in bunches and I believe many on here were saying the same thing. I didn't hear anything about Willamson's injury before you brought it up or I might not have mentioned that. I thought he had 13 carries? Not trying to be disrespectful, just pointing out the neutralizing effect of good defensive play on a good offense.
09-25-2011, 02:23 PM
I hate it that those kids weren't 100%, bottom line is it would not have mattered. No one mentioned that Ashland starting mlb didn't play.

Well, the last time I checked neither of those kids played offensive or defensive line...therefore I believe their impact would have been negligible. And if Williamson was so hurt, why wasn't he benched for the last 2 games to get healthy for the first district game?
The fact is, that RC has won some football games the last 3 years, but have not beaten a quality opponent. Just look at the combined W/L record of the teams they have beaten. The program has gotten better, but it is not what some would have you believe it is. An I am one who loves to see RC do well.
